Finally, after a good night's sleep, it was time to rush to the office. Although the program recording was completed, there was still a lot of post-production work to be done. There was always some time left until the holiday that Miao PD mentioned.
The house was unusually quiet. Normally, as soon as she stepped out of her bedroom, Anna would see Andy sitting on the sofa reading the newspaper, but today he was nowhere to be found. She knocked on Andy's door, but there was no response. He must have left for something, Anna thought, and she headed to work.
At the entrance of SBS, she happened to run into Park Soo Eun. Anna happily waved at her and greeted, "Sister Park!"
Seeing Anna, Park Soo Eun also waved cheerfully and quickly walked over, linking her arm with Anna's as if she had made a significant discovery. She said to Anna, "Hey, did you know?"
"What is it?" Anna asked, looking puzzled.
"Miss Choi's father was arrested for tax evasion! And her mother, who is a congresswoman, also stepped down due to being implicated in tax issues; it's all very unclear."
"What?!" Anna exclaimed in surprise.
"Now... that Miss Choi is definitely in big trouble. She used to be so arrogant in this industry and offended so many people, relying solely on her parents. Now that they are gone, who knows how she'll fare? Everyone will probably want to step on her," Park Soo Eun said.
The sudden news left Anna feeling a bit unsettled; she lowered her head and remained silent. Noticing Anna's lack of response, Park Soo Eun curiously asked, "Huh? I thought you'd be happy to hear this since she always targeted you before."
Anna gently shook her head. Yes, she really couldn't feel happy about it at all. She didn't like Miss Choi; in fact, she felt somewhat disgusted by her. However, now that this so-called 'retribution' was happening right before her eyes, it made her uncomfortable in some way. Especially the cries from that day lingered around her ears.
"Honestly, if I were you, I'd make sure to deal with her properly next time she comes on Running Man. But now with all these scandals surrounding her, there are probably more people in this industry wanting to take her down than we can imagine; it might not even be our turn. Whether she can continue in this industry is really uncertain," Park Soo Eun said.
"Then what will she do?" Anna asked.
Park Soo Eun thought for a moment and said, "Well... it won't be anything particularly serious, but definitely some media that didn't dare to expose her behavior before will come forward now. Her image will definitely be damaged, especially since she has always been sharp-tongued and arrogant. But that's about it. With her once imperious personality, she can handle it. This is also her own doing; if she had been kinder to others, it wouldn't have come to this."
Anna pondered this. Based on her understanding of Miss Choi over the past few days, the humiliation would surely be more unbearable than death for her. It was just that everything had come so suddenly; the person who had been like a princess beside her just yesterday had suddenly become like this, leaving Anna somewhat at a loss.
On the large screen in the SBS lobby, factual news was being broadcast, showing the photos of three middle-aged men in well-tailored suits with different appearances, as the host introduced them fluently.
"Ah, the election is starting again," Anna remarked. She knew these were the presidential candidates of South Korea, and soon there would be a new round of elections, capturing the attention of the entire nation.
"Yes," Park Soo Eun replied, then chuckled self-deprecatingly. "But every time I vote for someone, they never get elected as President."
Anna teased, "That's because your choices are quite unique."
The two exchanged smiles as the elevator arrived. They hurriedly took a few steps and squeezed into the elevator.
