With her right hand fumbling, Anna tried to pull off the blue button, but due to her heightened tension and sweaty palms, she failed several times. Just then, the door swung open, and instinctively, she looked up. A flash of silver passed before her eyes, and she felt a strong arm wrap around her abdomen, pivoting her in a different direction. In the next moment, the man who had been behind her collapsed onto the ground outside the train.
"Go."
Before Anna could react, she was pulled away and brought to a seat in the last carriage.
Everything happened in an instant, like a dream in the afternoon. If it weren't for the pain still stabbing at her back, Anna would have truly believed she was just having another nightmare. When did her life become so tumultuous, as if she were forever teetering on the edge of life and death?
When did it all begin?
The train continued its journey, and through the window, she saw the man who had been lying on the ground now staggering away while clutching his abdomen.
Having hovered repeatedly at the threshold of life and death, Anna looked incredulously at the man sitting beside her. His familiar silver hair and coldly handsome features were unchanged, especially those eyes that still sent chills down her spine.
"Is it you?" Anna said, realizing she didn't even know this person's name.
The man smiled slightly.
"Nice to see you again, Anna." His alluring voice made Anna feel even more uneasy.
Anna furrowed her brow and looked at him with confusion. "How do you know my name? Who are you?"
The man did not respond to her. He took a small flask of liquor from his pocket, took a sip, and placed a hand on Anna's shoulder, turning her around. With one hand, he lifted the back of Anna's clothing, using such force that she could not resist.
A wave of intense fear flooded her mind as she struggled to cover her body, but the man held her firmly in place, rendering her immobile.
"What do you want?!" Anna shouted in panic.
"Shh~~ Don't scream. If someone sees us, it won't be good," the man said softly.
It was then that Anna realized if Park Seok really woke up and saw this scene, she would have no way to explain herself.
As Anna was lost in thought, sensing her confusion, the man smiled slightly and spat the liquor from his mouth onto Anna's wound. The sharp pain made Anna gasp and let out a muffled groan; she clenched her teeth tightly, her face turning pale. The man tore off the sleeve of his shirt and expertly wrapped it around Anna's wound.
Seeing Anna drenched in sweat and gasping for breath, the man smirked.
"Who are you?" Anna asked.
"My name is Hogga."
"Hogga?" Anna repeated unconsciously.
At some point, Park Seok seemed to have woken up. He looked around several times and finally spotted Anna and the unfamiliar man. Rubbing his eyes, he got up and tried to walk over to ask what was happening.
Seeing Park Seok approach, Hogga smiled and stood up. He looked at Anna, who was still filled with confusion, and said, "That guy probably wanted your phone. I think you understand what's going on. Also, we will meet again, Anna."
After speaking, he walked towards the exit, passing by Park Seok. As they brushed past each other, Park Seok raised his hand to greet him, but Hogga didn't even glance his way and continued walking straight ahead.
"Ashi, really rude," Park Seok muttered under his breath, then approached Anna and asked, "Who is that?"
Anna shook her head; she didn't know how to explain this person to others. She said, "I don't know." She truly had no idea who he was. All she remembered was his peculiar appearance and that she couldn't tell if his name was real or fake.
Why did he happen to appear beside her twice? How did he know her name? How could he so easily rescue her from someone with a knife? Why did it seem like he knew everything about her?
Park Seok pondered in confusion, unable to make sense of it all. However, noticing that Anna's expression was somewhat off, he asked with concern, "What's wrong? Are you feeling unwell? You look pale."
Anna replied, "I'm fine; it’s probably just too hot. A little breeze will help."
The train entered a long tunnel, the prolonged darkness causing unease. After what felt like an eternity, when light finally returned, Anna looked again, but the man had vanished without a trace.
