It was shooting day again, and the call time was eight in the morning. Anna arrived at the meeting point at seven-thirty.
The atmosphere on set felt oddly different.
"Good morning," Anna greeted the other staff members.
A few people pretended not to see her and turned away, while some politely returned her greeting. Zhao PD was talking to Dongwan when he noticed Anna and said, "Anna, come here for a moment." Zhao PD waved her over.
"Okay," Anna hurried over. "What’s up, Zhao PD?"
"Jiang Yan can't make it today," he said.
"What?" Anna was surprised.
"I discussed it with Dongwan and decided that today, you will independently follow Haha, and you'll handle all the communication for the process," Zhao PD explained.
Anna glanced at Dongwan, who smiled and nodded slightly at her.
"Zhao PD, a new FD needs at least a month of following experience before they can do this. This is only her second time. I don't think she can handle it; we should find someone else. Besides, Haha has been doing variety shows for so many years; it's fine to communicate directly without an FD," the production assistant Park Soo Eun suddenly interjected, looking disdainfully at Anna.
Anna felt confused; she didn't understand what she had done to offend this sister.
"I..." Anna was about to explain when Park Soo Eun continued speaking.
“Last time Miss Anna followed Dong Wan to film Ji-hyo, she couldn't keep up with the pace. How can she manage to follow Haha alone now? If the FD can't handle the game rhythm and drags down the members, it would be better not to have an FD at all.”
Seeing Park Soo Eun's serious expression, Zhao PD hesitated a bit and said, “But I discussed it with Dong Wan, and he said Anna's ability to follow last time was quite good.”
“What Dong Wan sees alone is different from what all of us see,” Park Soo Eun replied.
“You weren't following along, but I was with Anna the whole time. I believe she can do it,” Dong Wan said.
“I can do it,” Anna asserted.
Park Soo Eun scoffed, “This is not the time to be stubborn.”
Anna looked at her calmly. “I'm not being stubborn. Being a program director is my biggest dream in life, and I will do my best to achieve it.”
“Please understand that effort doesn't always equate to success. Sometimes, no matter how hard you try, it won't work,” Park Soo Eun said with a smirk, looking smugly at Anna.
“How will you know if your efforts are in vain without trying?” Anna countered.
“Hmph,” Park Soo Eun scoffed.
“Alright,” Zhao PD interrupted the argument and turned to Anna. “Anna, work hard. Do you have confidence?”
“Yes, and I will definitely do well,” Anna replied.
“Zhao PD, she…” Park Soo Eun wanted to say something more.
“Alright, stop right there. Sook-eun, I know you mean well for the show, but we also need to give the newcomers a chance.” Zhao PD interrupted her: “Please check if the name tags for tonight's special traits are fully prepared. Thank you.”
Park Soo Eun fell silent and went off to do other things.
“Anna, just like you said, give it your all.” Zhao PD said to Anna.
“I will definitely do that.” Anna nodded.
“Go on, take a good look at the program flow. Today, Haha is in your hands; how well it goes depends on you.” Zhao PD said with a smile, handing the program flow to Anna.
Anna took it, feeling both anxious and excited.
All the camera positions were already booked, and Members were arriving one by one.
Jae-seok began to eloquently connect the members with the guests in the show.
The first shoot wrapped up, and the next segment involved everyone splitting up to complete tasks.
“Haha Brother, hello.” Anna greeted Haha.
