Chapter 391:
"Bang!"
The wooden door swung open.
The sunlit library immediately came into her view, and Freya, completely drained of energy, collapsed inside.
As her body entered the library, the wooden door, which was covered in cracks, suddenly let out a loud creak and began to splinter under the strain.
Behind the door, the apocalyptic scene of the Snow Mountain Range twisted for a moment before slowly fading away, ultimately transforming into a wall made of red bricks.
"The portal on the other side is damaged; this newly developed technology will probably cost Klyent quite a bit," Freya said with a bitter smile as she glanced at her battered body.
"So this is the power passed down from the Ancient Family? Even an ordinary Dawn Wizard level sorcerer can match my first form's condensation, along with that chilling Ancient Will."
That willpower, capable of freezing even thoughts and souls, would have likely led to her eternal burial in the Anshabella Volcano if it weren't for the situation at the bottom of Lava Lake.
This incident shattered the pride that had been quietly building within her since she condensed her first form.
She had initially thought her strength could rank among the top in Cloud City, but now it seemed she still had a long way to go.
While she might be much stronger than an ordinary sorcerer, when faced with those possessing special legacies, she might not hold up well.
"However, at least I didn't suffer any fundamental damage this time," Freya murmured with some relief. "The Spiritual Crystal is a bit troublesome, but as long as it hasn't completely shattered and I have enough time, it can be restored. It's just that the hidden injuries on my body are a bit of a hassle."
Moreover, although that willpower hadn't touched her physically, some lingering essence had clung to her and needed to be dealt with.
After resting for a while, Freya struggled to pull out a green branch from her undamaged waist pouch, a green glow flickering between her fingers.
She glanced around the library; this place was Klyent's private sanctuary, and aside from his closest confidants, no other wizards would know of its existence.
Pausing for a moment, Freya pointed the branch at herself, and the green glow enveloped her, releasing a rich aura of life.
The wooden floor began to be covered with deep green moss. Green luminescence floated in the air.
A circle of green vegetation rapidly grew around Freya, completely wrapping her up.
The entire strange black house, including its surroundings, began to transform under the influence of the Tree of Life.
Suddenly, a soft sound echoed as a large brown tree shot up beside the two chimneys on the roof.
The tree quickly grew branches, resembling a giant umbrella that covered the entire house. Vines of vibrant green slowly descended from the branches and rooted themselves in the fertile ground.
In just a few minutes, the whole house was completely enveloped by the giant tree.
In the distance, a White Deer leisurely grazing on grass raised its head in shock at this scene.
Nearby, a sheep named Taboli with a Big Mouth was playing. Faced with the suddenly sprouted ancient tree, an indescribable feeling washed over it.
"What’s going on? Did a tree just grow in my house?"
On the other side, at Anshabella Volcano.
The erupting column of magma seemed to carry the wrath of some will, continuously emitting scorching heat, causing large areas of the snow-capped mountains to melt, with the resulting icy water surging down towards the town below.
Magma meteors and volcanic ash had nearly destroyed half of the Snow Mountain Range.
The thickly dust-laden air enveloped the land in a dim space.
Suddenly, this dense air brightened abruptly.
With a 'hiss!'
It sliced through the dust like a sharp sword, revealing a clear blue sky.
Three figures cloaked in white robes slowly floated in the air.
One of them sheathed a white dagger and spoke coldly.
"The last Soul Resonance of Klein and the inherited fire seed have completely dissipated; the last remaining location is right here. What are your thoughts?"
"What thoughts?" replied one of the figures lazily. "You should know that Anshabella Volcano is not just an ordinary volcano as it appears on the surface. What is hidden there is something no one can provoke. Do you really want to go in and ask?"
"You!!" Seemingly provoked by this white-robed figure, he drew his white dagger again. A translucent flame ignited around him.
Seeing that one was about to start a fight, the other white-robed figure suddenly pulled off his hood, revealing a delicate and enchanting male face. His eyes glimmered with a faint golden light, as if hiding something strange within.
"Stop it, you two!" The exceptionally tall figure in white robes interjected just as the two were about to clash. "Although we are three branches, we are ultimately one family. Do you really want to cause a split?"
His eyes, hidden beneath the hood, coldly stared at the two individuals. Although he made no move, a strange and dangerous aura spread towards them like a plague.
The two seemed to be very wary of him, and simultaneously snorted coldly before turning away.
Seeing that the atmosphere had eased, the Tall Shadow slowly spoke. "This incident is extremely serious. Although it involves the bottom of the volcanic lake, if we don't investigate, there will be no explanation for those below."
"Heh heh, let’s see who investigates. Anyway, it's not my Snow Fox Fortress people who are dying." The strange man glanced at the white-robed figure who had begun to speak and said oddly, "Besides, I seem to know that Klein has not been behaving lately. His hatred for Klyent seems to have long surpassed the limits set by his family. Perhaps there’s some hidden truth behind it; after all, this is your Ashen Tower's territory."
At his words, the other two fell silent.
The tall figure in the white robe suddenly swelled a few sizes, and a violent aura erupted from him.
He abruptly turned to look at the strange man and said in a chilling tone, "Are you serious?"
"Otherwise, why would Klein happen to die here?" The strange man smiled with narrowed eyes. "Moreover, I can smell the unique Rune Array aura of Silver Crown. You know I’ve never liked lies."
The Tall Shadow slowly turned his head, fixing his gaze on the white-robed figure beside him.
"Bessum does not lie! Willy! You explain this; otherwise, you won’t leave here intact today! Klyent may be disobedient and run around everywhere, but he is my only son! The sole heir of my Ashen Tower!"
"You..." Feeling the air tremble slightly, Willy, the white-robed man, shrank back slightly. "This is just Bessum's speculation! Besides, shouldn't our priority be to stop the dangers posed by the ongoing volcanic eruptions? Don't create divisions among us!"
"I will thoroughly investigate Klein's death! However, I will not overlook this matter," Tall Shadow paused before continuing. "You can leave for now! If I truly uncover something, the name Silver Crown will be erased forever, and your Silver Wolf Clan will belong to me, Ashen Tower!"
Upon hearing his words, Willy moved his lips as if he wanted to say something. Suddenly, a fierce transparent wave struck directly towards him.
Boom!!!
The air shook violently, filled with clear transparent cracks. Then Willy was sent flying, leaving a trail of blood. In no time, he disappeared from sight.
Tall Shadow retracted his fist, his figure slowly returning to normal.
Beside him, Bessum smirked, seemingly unfazed by his actions. "You're already close to Sixth Level, aren't you?"
"Yes." He nodded indifferently. "I've grasped that Particle; in about fifty years, I should be able to attempt an advancement."
"Heh heh, not bad. Perhaps our family can regain the glory of Ancient Times. However, it seems the Silver Wolves have recently strayed off course; do they need to be corrected?"
Tall Shadow did not immediately respond. His gaze was deep as he looked at the still erupting column of magma in the distance.
After a long while, he took a deep breath and said slowly, "My father decided to separate the three families to encourage everyone to work hard and compete with each other. But recently, Willy seems to have gotten too close to those underground scum. If it's unnecessary, I don't want to resort to violence; after all, we are family."
"There’s no choice; fundamentally speaking, this is also an inherited issue. Let it go for now," Bessum glanced around at the already fallen majority of Watchtower. "Let's handle this first. If it really is that one from Ansabella Abyss, then the Northern Snowfield might soon turn into the Ansabella Volcano Group."
"Alright!"
Nodding slightly, Tall Shadow took out a golden token from his waist. The center of the token was engraved with a Roaring Giant Bear Emblem.
He paused for a moment and murmured a spell. Then he threw the token into the air.
"Whoosh!"
A transparent wave immediately spread out, and the heavy volcanic dust was pushed aside by this force, revealing a larger space.
Looking at the space that had returned to normal, the two exchanged glances and then flew toward the continuously erupting volcano.
...
Three months later.
In the secret realm of Klyent.
Inside a house that had transformed into a giant tree, a faint rustling sound began to emerge.
"Crackle, crackle."
In the second-floor library, within a massive cluster of plants, a green halo was slowly blooming.
"Snap!"
Suddenly, a pair of fair arms shot out from the plant cluster.
With a strong push of her palms, the entire plant cluster was evenly separated.
Covered in green slime, Freya stepped out of the plant mass barefoot. Her emerald green hair enveloped her body like a long green dress.
Clenching her fist, Freya let out a light breath.
"True to its name, the Tree of Life looks like it's recovering well. At least the hidden injuries have been completely eliminated. As for the mental energy, with a bit of rest, it should be back to normal soon."
Glancing around at the houses covered in plants, she paused and extended her hand.
'Swish!'
A Green Light Spot emerged from her palm and flew towards the nearest vine.
'Hiss.'
The vine instantly withered and then turned to ash, disappearing on the spot.
Like a plague, all the plants connected to the vine quickly disintegrated, and soon all the vegetation in the house was cleared away into its most primitive particles.
However, the furniture damaged by the plants could not be restored immediately.
But this house was originally meant for storing books and daily rest; the bookshelves were engraved with a Defensive Rune Array. As long as the books inside were undamaged, it didn't matter.
After changing back into her clothes, Freya paused for a moment before walking out of the house.
Having killed a Dawn Wizard from the Klyent Family, especially one from such an ancient clan, was a significant trouble for Freya.
It's possible that there are already wanted posters up in the Northern Snowfield. If that's the case, then the Blood Eagle Territory would likely be affected as well.
However, given the Elder Council's style of doing things, even if she got into trouble, she probably wouldn't be abandoned.
After some thought, Freya decided to leave this place for now and make plans later.
Although the reasons for the war were still unclear, the location of Stardust Prairie had likely been determined, so the plan to search for King Cobra and Source could be scheduled sooner rather than later.
One week later.
In the evening glow just before nightfall.
In a city within the Northern Snowfield.
Freya, wearing a hood and a white robe, walked into a tavern.
After ordering some food, she sat down in a corner.
At that moment, the tavern was bustling with dinner time; several mercenaries clad in armor were loudly shouting and drinking Barley Beer.
The clinking of glasses and shouts created quite a ruckus, while some young women dressed as prostitutes stood among the crowd, waiting for business.
A down-and-out bard played a cheerful tune on his violin, adding to the lively atmosphere of the tavern.
Feeling the noisy environment, Freya lightly snapped her fingers, and instantly all sounds fell silent.
She quietly finished her meal and took a sip of the Cider beside her before gently tapping her fingers on the table.
The crisp sound was not particularly noticeable in the tavern; however, soon after, a dark shadow appeared behind Freya.
A hoarse voice emerged from the shadow.
"Hello, Goat Sister."
"Is that you, Night Raven? Please give me a newspaper and wanted notice about the recent major events in the Northern Snowfield."
"Sure, please pay thirty Magic Stones."
Without a word, Freya took out three dark stones from her waist and tossed them into the shadows.
"Hehe, thank you for your patronage."
The voice of Night Raven came again, followed by a black bird's claw gently placing a stack of parchment on the table, then the shadow disappeared.
Looking at the information on the table with some emotion, Freya didn't expect that the mysterious Toy Room actually had members even underground. (To be continued.)
