Chapter 371:
After watching the Silver Carriage leave the villa, Freya mounted the Crimson Giant Eagle and flew directly towards the Rune Department.
The giant eagle soared over tall buildings, and soon an open space appeared beneath her.
In the center of the open space was a White Shield emblem carved with a Red Eagle design.
With a whoosh—whoosh—
The giant eagle flapped its wings and slowly descended, the strong wind creating ripples across the grass surrounding the open area.
Once the giant eagle landed, an apprentice in a Gray Robe quickly approached, bracing against the wind pressure as he took hold of the reins to guide the giant eagle.
Freya had just jumped off the giant eagle when a Black-Haired Witch in a White Robe came toward her from a distance.
The witch was young, her slightly pale face framed by black round glasses, giving her an intellectual appearance.
She held a folder in her hands, and her expression revealed a hint of urgency.
Noticing the look on the witch's face, Freya furrowed her brows slightly.
"Wen Li, you are already an official person in charge. What could be so urgent? Is it another matter from the World Gate?"
"Teacher," Wen Li said as she approached Freya, bowing respectfully before speaking hurriedly. "It's not about the World Gate; it's about Lord Lawrence and them."
"Hmm?" Freya glanced at the folder in Wen Li's hands. "Isn't Lawrence in Forge City? What happened? Let me see."
Taking the folder that was handed over, Freya flipped through it casually, and her brow furrowed slightly.
"There has been a conflict with people from Sky City, and they accidentally killed two of our Third-Rank Apprentices."
"Yes, teacher, and Lord Meilong immediately went to mediate with only Lord Seth and Lord Orpheus after receiving the news. I'm worried."
Closing the folder, Freya raised her head, her expression becoming serious.
"Every apprentice is the new blood of my Blood Eagle Territory. Is the Vice Minister and several other directors currently in the department?"
"The Vice Minister is not here; only Lord Sis is guarding the headquarters among the other directors."
Upon hearing Wen Li's quick response, Freya pondered for a moment and then directly instructed.
"Then go notify the head of the Crimson Eagle Guard Unit and the special forces, telling them everything that has happened. Although Forge City is just on the outskirts of Crimson Plain, it still belongs to Blood Eagle Territory. This matter is significant. Did Lord Meilong leave any information for me before she left?"
"Yes, Lord Meilong asked you to coordinate with Lord Sis on various departmental tasks as much as possible during her absence. Pay attention to any changes at the World Gate to prevent accidents."
"Oh? I understand."
Freya gently nodded, returned the folder to Wen Li, and thought for a moment.
"Then you go ahead and notify the Crimson Eagle Guard Unit. I have some matters to attend to first. I will head to the headquarters afterward."
Listening to Freya's instructions, Wen Li obediently nodded.
"I understand, teacher."
"Mm, thank you for your hard work."
Watching Wen Li walk back along the path she came from, after a long while, Freya raised her finger.
A strange scorpion pattern immediately flashed on her nail.
"Nick, something has happened in Forge City. I know you have been stationed there all these years. I hope you can quickly notify Isaac and others; this may relate to the interests of Sky City and my Blood Eagle Territory."
After a while, a voice that was unusually cold came from the mark.
"I understand."
With that, the mark automatically disconnected.
Freya looked at the dimming monster scorpion and slowly lowered her arms.
In eleven years, whether through the guidance of the Seth Family or her own strength, Freya's position in the Rune Department had risen from a manager to that of a director, effectively stepping into the middle ranks of the Blood Eagle Territory.
However, with the elevation in status came an increasing number of responsibilities. If it weren't for Wen Li's assistance, she might not even have time to conduct her own research.
Especially during moments like this.
Of course, in return, Freya had also gained access to various precious resources and information from the Blood Eagle Territory.
Among them, the most important was the fourth-level Wind of Oblivion Meditation Method, which Meilong had personally handed to her when she received her appointment as director.
However, this Meditation Method, which could ultimately allow her to reach Dawn Level, seemed somewhat incomplete after Freya began practicing it.
This was a special perception from the Eye of the King Snake; it was basically infallible.
"Although I already have a Meditation Method, breaking through to the fourth level—a qualitative change in soul and body—is not something that can be achieved in just a few years. Eight years have passed; that time should be about up."
Pausing for a moment, Freya's figure gradually faded away. A slight breeze swept by as a hazy dark cloud flew northward across the azure sky.
In a charred ruin far from the central city of Blood Eagle Territory, Freya's figure slowly materialized.
This ruin was left behind by a Wizard Organization that had been purged by Blood Eagle Territory long ago. Due to intense energy pollution caused by various sorceries, it had long been uninhabitable for normal people and thus fell into disrepair.
However, ten years ago, Freya discovered this ruin and found a hidden basement. She cleared out various guards and traps inside and repurposed it for her use.
Leather Boots stepped on the soft ground as Freya adjusted her Red Robe and walked in a specific direction.
After navigating around several concealed Rune Arrays and traps she had set, Freya arrived in front of a massive building that was completely charred.
She reached out to touch the large door of the building, and after a layer of fine ripples, the door slowly opened a crack.
Freya glanced back and quickly slipped inside.
Passing through the dry, dark corridor, she soon arrived at a special room.
Under the bright white glow of the luminous stone above, a towering Blood Crystal floated in the air, with a blood-red pool beneath it.
Red pipes extended from the pool into the crystal, and a gentle sucking sound emanated from within.
Freya quietly observed the crystal, and before she knew it, her eyes were veiled with a layer of emerald glow, releasing a faint aura around her.
"I didn't expect that the Bloodline Power I was so close to obtaining would take ten years; this is too slow. Let me speed things up."
After a pause, she took out two red Crystals from her waist and tossed them directly into the Blood Pool.
With two splashes, the Crystals quickly sank to the bottom, and soon the Blood Pool began to boil violently, filling the entire room with a rich scent of blood.
The floating Blood Crystal also seemed to be affected, its color deepening. Within it, one could vaguely see what appeared to be a coiled sleeping serpent.
She watched the changes in the Blood Crystal with anticipation.
After a long while, Freya withdrew her gaze and walked to the other side of the room.
There stood a Transparent Glass Column containing Light Blue Liquid, surrounded by four delicate white Rune Towers. A faint aura of Positive Energy radiated from the Rune Towers.
At the bottom of the Light Blue Liquid, a Jet Black Fierce Helmet lay quietly.
The helmet occasionally emitted wisps of black smoke, which were quickly neutralized and dissipated by the surrounding blue liquid.
Freya's emerald green eyes, reminiscent of Amber, gazed at the helmet with a calm expression.
Suddenly, she slowly extended her hand, pressing her palm against the glass column. A faint thread of mental energy penetrated inside.
'Sizzle.'
Before long, a miniature version of the Black Knight appeared before her.
The Black Knight looked dazed, appearing semi-transparent as it floated up and down at the top of the armor.
"After separating the Grievance and strong will from the Spirit, what remains is not merely a soul but another kind of special existence. Perhaps this is what a soul looks like after its qualitative change."
For modern witches, research on Spirits has never ceased. Some Necromancers have even artificially cultivated Spirits through special methods for various experiments. However, due to the instability of these Spirits, significant research results have always been elusive.
The level of Spirit that Freya captured could be considered unique.
Through over a decade of research and exploration, Freya felt that the special nature of this type of soul had great implications for her breakthrough to Dawn Level.
This Mutated Soul, as an individual entity capable of surviving on its own, shared many similarities in its essence of power with some descriptions found among Dawn Wizards.
From various materials regarding Blood Eagle Territory, Freya understood that battles beyond Dawn Wizards were no longer limited to simple witchcraft and other methods but involved deeper aspects of the soul. Eventually, they could form their own domains, which were related to souls in some way.
After observing this Knight Spirit for a while, she realized that the absorption by the red Crystal would take quite some time.
Freya gently snapped her fingers. A dark blue wind suddenly appeared behind her, forming a translucent chair.
Sitting in the chair, she took out the Blue Box she had obtained from Jann.
Inside this box is the information that Freya once asked Jann to collect about the Lord of Death.
She was filled with curiosity about the massive tomb and the many powerful monsters of dawn, especially the woman who absorbed some Bloodline and achieved her first form of condensation.
However, the formidable strength of those beings also made Freya feel unexpectedly troubled. If she hadn't suddenly thrown out that strange Jet Black Longsword back then, she might have been left in Hell World.
Even now, thinking about that bizarre Jet Black Longsword and the Cyclops on the Blade made Freya feel somewhat uncomfortable.
Opening the Blue Box in her hands, she found a Black-Bound Book inside.
Taking out the Thin Book, Freya quietly flipped it open.
The pages were filled with Jann's handwriting; the White Pages were written in Red Ink, looking neat and clean.
In the silent basement, only the soft sound of turning pages could be heard.
After ten minutes, Freya closed the Thin Book and frowned slightly.
"I didn't expect that the Lord of Death was once one of the Thirteen Apostles under the ruler of the entire Hell World. Each possessed immense power, and his wife suddenly disappeared for unknown reasons. It is said that even he and his subordinates were sealed in an area no one knows."
Combining this with the enormous mural she had seen on the stone wall, Freya had begun to vaguely guess that the pitch-black longsword might have a significant connection to the disappearance or sealing of the Lord of Death.
"What about that Thirteen Pillars from back then and that woman from whom I absorbed Bloodline Power?"
Suddenly, Freya turned to look at the Jet Black Helmet within the Transparent Glass Pillar.
"If the woman I absorbed Bloodline from is the Lord of Death's wife, then who is this guy?"
After a moment of contemplation, Freya felt that she might have gotten herself into some trouble. The woman she absorbed could very well be dead.
"I hope this former ruler of Hell doesn't have the ability to traverse worlds. After all, I directly disrupted the time-space Coordinate back then; he shouldn't notice anything."
As she pondered, the Red Crystal behind her suddenly began to tremble.
The red tube inserted into the crystal snapped open with a series of pops, and a faint aura slowly emanated from the crystal chamber.
"Hmm? Is it starting to awaken already?"
Seeing the unusual phenomenon of the crystal, Freya immediately set down the Thin Book in her hands and walked over to the crystal.
Inside, the hazy serpent began to slowly twist its form, uncoiling its body and stretching out.
In an inexplicable way, Freya felt her Bloodline Power rapidly flowing and condensing around her.
Strands of green markings gradually appeared on her face, crawling over her body like tattoos.
'Sizzle!'
With a soft sound, a crack suddenly formed in the center of Freya's forehead, and green luminescence emerged from the fissure.
Freya slowly spread her arms, her eyes revealing a hint of anticipation and choice.
"The condensation of form signifies my complete departure from human flesh. According to what is mentioned in the inheritance, using my abilities will no longer consume Bloodline Power; everything will become instinct. So come forth."
The last two sentences were whispered in the special language of the King Cobra.
As the serpent inside stretched its body, the tremors of the entire crystal intensified.
'Crack!!'
The Red Crystal suddenly shattered, and countless splashes of blood erupted around Freya.
This blood was continuously absorbed by the cracked crystal, as the serpent within slowly opened its emerald eyes and gazed quietly at Freya.
Suddenly, a chaotic stream of information flowed through the snake's crystal into her mind.
“Heritage Mission Will Starry Field.”
These messages carried an inexplicable sense of desolation and antiquity, as if whispering some ancient story in her ear.
Freya stared expressionlessly at the crystal, which was covered in fine cracks, and slowly placed her hands on its surface, gradually opening her mouth.
“I will find Stardust Prairie and fulfill your mission.”
‘Crash!’
The massive crystal shattered with a loud bang, forming countless tiny fragments that swirled and merged into Freya's body.
As if her blood were burning, Freya felt her body changing at an astonishing speed. (To be continued.)
