Chapter 360:
A dull thud echoed as Nick's body slammed hard into the ground nearby, sending up a cloud of dirt.
She herself was deeply buried in the soil.
However, soon after, the earth exploded with a loud crack, and the fierce-faced Bald Witch lunged toward Freya.
"You’re asking for death!!"
As she charged, the Scimitar in her hands glimmered with a flash of red light, radiating a scorching and dangerous aura.
Calmly watching the surging momentum of Nick's attack, Freya lightly swung her Black Cross Sword.
Suddenly, she moved slightly and vanished from her original spot.
Swish!!
Clang!!!
A wave of transparent ripples erupted as Freya and Nick were both sent flying backward.
At the same time Nick was propelled away, she suddenly spread her palms, and five tiny red light spots flickered and vanished.
Bang! Bang!
Five sharp spikes suddenly shot toward Freya from an unknown direction.
"First-level Enhanced Arrow Technique?!"
With a cold snort, Freya swung her sword to deflect three of the spikes and quickly stepped back to avoid the other two.
However, as she retreated, her feet suddenly sank, and a sharp sensation surged from beneath the ground.
Swish!!!
A five to six-meter-long red Scorpion Tail suddenly appeared, thrusting toward Freya's waist with incredible speed, leaving her no time to react.
Clang!
With a crisp sound, a translucent Azure shield appeared around Freya.
However, the shield only held for a few seconds before shattering into countless Azure fragments that vanished into the air.
The moment the shield broke, Freya's gaze sharpened. The Black Cross Sword in her hand seemed to dissipate like smoke, forming a swirling tempest of dark blue wind around her.
Supported by this wind, her body retreated just in time to evade the Scorpion Tail's strike.
The Scorpion Tail, missing its target, quickly retracted back into the ground. Soon after, a massive Red Scorpion emerged from the earth and crawled swiftly to Nick's side, obediently lying down.
Seeing the red creature, Freya's pupils slightly constricted. She reached out and grasped, causing the dark blue wind around her to coalesce once more into the shape of a Cross Sword in her hand.
Nick, with his shiny bald head, reached out and gently stroked the massive Scorpion beside him, his previously cold tone softening slightly.
"Freya. Hand over the armor, and stop resisting meaninglessly. We are both members of Blood Eagle Territory, after all. The days ahead are long, and with your strength just now, you would be underappreciated in the Rune Department. Why not join my Crimson Eagle Guard Unit instead?"
During their earlier confrontation, she had realized that Freya's combat level was nearly on par with her own. If it weren't for some peculiarities about Freya, she might have even been at a disadvantage.
Moreover, the most important thing was that she had truly understood Freya's level; it was not the first-level Crystallization indicated by her mental fluctuations but rather the same Second Level as herself.
"Crimson Eagle Guard Unit?" Freya lightly flicked her Cross Sword and curiously looked at the giant scorpion next to Nick. "That might not be possible. You should know that so far, there hasn't been any information about a 'manager' switching departments in Blood Eagle Territory."
"Manager?" Suddenly, Nick noticed the Red Wooden Plaque hanging from Freya's waist and was momentarily taken aback.
Her expression then became somewhat strange as she looked at Freya with a slight frown.
"You've actually climbed to that position? But even if you're a manager, what does it matter? The gap between the Crimson Eagle Guard Unit and the Rune Department is not something that position can compare to. You have no idea of the benefits of the Crimson Eagle Guard Unit; that's where the Grand Elder is."
"The secret of the Crimson Eagle Guard Unit?"
Upon hearing Nick's implication and connecting it to the Grand Elder, Freya vaguely thought of something but shook her head to interrupt Nick before she could continue.
"If that's your secret, it probably doesn't mean much to me. That kind of power is chaotic and disordered; it's not a normal way to enhance life."
Nick fell silent upon hearing Freya's words.
After a long while, she finally lifted her head, her gaze fixed intensely on Freya.
"Then there's nothing we can do. Since you think that kind of power is chaotic, I wonder how many times you can withstand it. Brian, get out of the way."
Upon hearing Nick's command, Brian, who had been cautious nearby, quickly stepped back. He knew that the upcoming battle was beyond his level of participation.
Even though he was at the peak level of a Second-Level Wizard, it was important to understand that there were significant differences in strength among wizards of the same rank.
As a member of the Crimson Eagle Guard who was not part of the combat unit, Nick realized that even the unfathomable Blonde Witch Freya was not someone he could contend with. It was better to leave now and return after the battle was over.
Once Brian's figure faded into a dot in the distance, Nick suddenly reached out his hand toward the nearby Red Giant Scorpion.
With a faint sound, his hand slowly merged into the body of the giant scorpion.
Immediately afterward, much of the scorpion's jelly-like body fused with Nick's entire form.
Throughout this process, Freya simply watched silently.
"Extracting bloodlines by using powerful Demonized Creatures or transforming Alien Creatures to inject into one's own body while using these beings as companion Magical Pets is indeed powerful. However, it fundamentally alters one's essence early on. Unless the chosen creature is exceptionally strong—strong enough to reach the level of a Dawn Wizard—everything gained comes at the cost of polluting one's own spirit. Perhaps there are even aftereffects where the companion pet might devour one's will; it's truly not worth it."
Long ago, within the Crimson Eagle Guard Unit, both Isaac, known as the Sand Crocodile, and Sister Sani, a high-ranking member resembling a Black-Haired Girl, subtly emanated a faint Bloodline Power. However, this Bloodline Power was not pure; it was filled with various chaotic energies. Freya, possessing the King Cobra Legacy, immediately understood that this stemmed from creatures synthesized by wizards themselves.
These creatures appeared powerful, but since they were not products of natural evolution, they undoubtedly had genetic flaws of one kind or another. While these flaws might not be apparent now, they could become problematic in the future.
Even in the fusion state, Freya could clearly see the abnormalities of the fiery red Scorpion.
"The hermaphrodite is secondary; this creature seems to be a hybrid of the Abyssal Flame Scorpion Demon and the Ice Blue Scorpion's Bloodline, with many other beings from the Wizarding World added to temper the two Bloodlines. If this were Earth or a world without extraordinary powers, it would have likely perished immediately after synthesis due to the collapse of its genetic chain. However, Abyssal Creatures inherently possess chaotic and murderous traits, and this monster, primarily fused with the Flame Scorpion Demon, is probably even more spiritually corrupted than native creatures of the Wizarding World."
She thought lightly to herself as Nick and the Scorpion completed their fusion.
The head of the Scorpion had vanished, replaced by Nick's body.
At this moment, her shiny bald head was unexpectedly covered in long fiery red hair, with strange patterns emerging on both sides of her cheeks. In the center of her forehead was a Red Crystal-like object.
In just over ten seconds, Nick's mental fluctuations were nearly on par with a Third-Rank Wizard, filled with chaos and destructive malice.
Standing at five meters tall, resembling a monster, Nick looked down at Freya. Dark Flowing Lights occasionally flickered in her crimson eyes.
"This is my fifty percent liberation state. In complete form, I could reach Third Peak. Do you still think this power is insignificant?"
Her voice had completely shed its previous clarity, becoming deep and muffled, sounding almost like a man's voice.
Without saying a word, Freya shook her head. She slightly raised her Cross Sword and gently swung it toward Nick's massive body.
Invisibly, a breeze swept through countless blades of grass along the ground toward Nick below.
"Swish!"
A light sound echoed.
A deep white mark appeared on one of the limbs beneath her, and bright red blood immediately began to flow out.
The injury looked severe, but it didn't hurt Nick at all. She squinted her eyes at Freya, her hands relaxing as the Scimitars hung loosely at her sides.
"This is what you brought upon yourself!"
With that, her massive form transformed into a giant red afterimage as she charged towards Freya.
As Freya raised her Cross Sword, she felt an immense force crashing towards her from the front.
Clang!!
The now crimson twin blades struck hard against the Cross Sword, sending a long spark flying.
A fierce, thorn-like rune emerged in Nick's eyes, and then several spikes beneath her shot forward like long swords towards Freya.
"Keep blocking! Keep blocking!!"
Countless dark sparks scattered from the Cross Sword as Freya was forced to retreat rapidly under Nick's frenzied assault.
The ground beneath them was carved into deep trenches due to their powerful movements.
Suddenly, a dense array of black patterns lit up on Nick's twin blades, and an exceptionally dangerous aura erupted.
At the same time, the strange patterns on either side of her face turned bright red as she grinned widely, revealing her snow-white teeth.
"Trash. Go die!!"
'Boom!!'
A large area of land exploded, countless cracks suddenly sinking down to form a massive black hole, where the fiery red figure of Nick transformed into a monstrous scorpion could be faintly seen.
Just as she unleashed her strongest attack, suddenly, a large mass of damp dark clouds began to rise from the black hole.
Nick, holding dual blades, was momentarily taken aback. She then felt a sudden heaviness above her head.
In an instant, a dark blue Storm Hand came crashing down.
'Bang!!!!'
A silent wave of white energy instantly spread out, the sharp Wind Element Particle tearing up a large chunk of the ground.
From a distance, Brian could only see the sky suddenly darkening, followed by a muffled sound as a large mass of white airflow rushed toward him.
'Swoosh—'
The hurricane mixed with various debris caused Brian to momentarily choke on his breath. The White Robe he wore rustled loudly, and a faint White Light aura enveloped him, blocking the onslaught of the hurricane.
"This level of Wind Element Particle?"
However, just as he was lost in thought, a thick flame surged up clearly visible from that direction.
Flames swirled in the air, vaguely forming the shape of a Scorpion. Just as the Flame Scorpion was swinging its Scorpion Claw, a huge dark green hand suddenly reached out and grabbed it fiercely.
With a loud 'smack', the fire giant scorpion, composed of dense Fire Element particles, let out a silent scream as it was caught by the Giant Hand, then quickly extinguished.
...
In a massive pit filled with charred remnants, the air carried a faint aroma of roasted meat, with wisps of black smoke slowly rising from the depths of the pit.
Standing in the giant pit, Freya looked at a pile of mangled flesh and blood with a complex expression.
After a long moment, she reached out and plunged her hand into the pile of flesh, then yanked it back forcefully.
Nick was pulled out, covered in red chunks of meat.
She seemed to have fainted, showing no reaction at all, and was carelessly tossed aside.
"Although her power and mental fluctuations have reached Third Peak, both her resistance and spellcasting remain at Second Level. Moreover, her intelligence has clearly been influenced by her companion beast after fusion. This kind of power is indeed just a substandard product; no wonder most members of the Crimson Eagle Guard Unit are so cold and warlike."
In Freya's eyes, this level of combat was nothing compared to what she had encountered before. This was still without her fully unleashing her third-tier abilities; she was merely fighting at Second-Grade Peak level.
If she fully activated her Empowerment Spell fused with the King Cobra Legacy, Nick would probably be crushed without even being able to take a single hit.
It should be noted that this kind of power was not just simple Third Peak; it carried a qualitative change akin to Dawn Level existence.
After about a minute, Nick woke up from her unconsciousness. As soon as she regained consciousness, she immediately reached for her waist.
But her waist was empty, and the twin blades had long since disappeared during the earlier battle.
Her expression darkened instantly as she cast a cold glance at Freya standing nearby.
"You—"
Just as she opened her mouth to speak, a dark box was thrown beside her with a 'thud'.
Freya glanced down at the disheveled Bald Witch, then turned around. A streak of dark wind lifted her body and she flew out of the pit, gradually departing.
The activated armor itself was merely a curiosity for Freya. According to Brian, it was just an ancient item picked up from the ruins. She speculated that it was likely a wizard's tool similar to modern Cursed Items created by the Ancient Wizard, and its significance was not that of a precious treasure.
However, such items were still very valuable in the hands of certain families, which was why Brian had gone to such lengths to ask Nick for help.
As for Nick, Freya didn't care much.
From the beginning, they were not on the same level, and the outcome of this battle had already been determined as soon as it began.
Under the azure sky, Freya walked slowly on her way back, the gentle breeze brushing through her long hair, and the sunlight casting a faint sense of tranquility behind her. (To be continued.)
