Chapter 359:
Of course, these are all surface-level observations.
As for what happens behind the scenes, that remains unknown.
After all, in Cloud City, the gathering place of the White Wizards, there are no shortage of wizards with different Bloodlines, and the Necromancy Department is particularly abundant in this regard.
The absorption aura had no effect; the blood hidden within the armor firmly grasped the central eye. It seems that unless it was directly broken open, retrieving anything inside would be impossible.
Gently lowering her hand, Freya furrowed her brow. She had previously noticed that this object had a certain activation effect, but she did not expect it to reach such a level.
"It has already formed its own will. Clearly, this thing is slowly evolving intelligence. It would be a pity to destroy it like this; I might as well ask Nick and the others directly later."
Although the Bloodline Power within the armor was powerful, Freya was not in a hurry to absorb it right away.
She had a vague feeling that there must be something interesting behind this biological armor.
"This activated armor, I suppose, can autonomously recover even if damaged as long as the core inside is not destroyed. Moreover, it can assist in combat temporarily or choose to flee if its master loses consciousness. It seems that these families also hide some special techniques as their foundation."
Though this biological technology was not particularly helpful to Freya, it could serve as supplementary knowledge for her. After all, one never knows when it might come in handy.
After Freya's examination, the Silver Sphere's Bloodline Power seemed to have weakened somewhat and had now returned to its original state in her hand.
Casually placing the Sphere back into the Black Box, Freya stored it in her specially made waist pouch and left the laboratory.
The landscape outside the manor had been completely transformed, with a neurotic speed purple mist swirling around the surrounding forest. It looked eerily quiet and somewhat terrifying.
Although the ground appeared the same as before, it had actually turned into a Corrupted Swamp; even the strongest Azure Golem would likely be swallowed whole if trapped within.
Freya stood in the manor, satisfied as she observed her defensive measures. Despite various traps outside, the manor remained unaffected due to the protective isolation shield, and the air was still fresh and natural.
"The level of external defense is almost sufficient in the Crimson Plain. Hmm, let me put something down."
After thinking for a moment, she walked into the laboratory within the estate. Five minutes later, Freya emerged holding a cage wrapped in black cloth.
The cage emitted rustling sounds. It seemed to contain some kind of creature.
She lifted the black cloth and reached inside the cage.
It was a snake, about one and a half meters long, with a black body covered in fine scales. The snake's head was triangular, and its red eyes curiously looked around.
The snake coiled around Freya's arm. It did not seem shy and appeared to have a faint sense of familiarity with her.
Freya gently touched the snake's head and blinked.
All the Mud Pythons she had once cultivated had disappeared due to the King Cobra's Bloodline. However, the original Bloodline seed used to cultivate the Mud Python remained and had been kept in the laboratory by Freya.
"Sakuya Lan Snake, a distant relative of the Mud Python. It possesses strong venomous attacks and Knight's Pinnacle speed, preferring to live in swamps or moist sand pits. In some special gathering places for wizards, it even has the terrifying title of apprentice killer. This Corrupted Swamp is also a relatively ideal living environment for you, so I'll place you here."
With that, Freya reached out and touched its chin, slicing it open with her fingers, causing crimson blood to flow immediately.
Ignoring the Black Serpent's struggles, Freya's gaze sharpened as a drop of green blood automatically oozed from her fingers and flowed into its head. Upon contact with Freya's blood, the wound on the Black Serpent's chin instantly closed up.
A clear pattern slowly emerged on the snake's forehead, resembling a coiled black shape.
The color of the mark was also black, blending seamlessly with the Black Serpent's fine scales so that it was nearly undetectable.
Once the King Cobra Mark was fully formed, Freya walked to the edge of the estate's isolation barrier.
With a gentle wave of her hand, a half-meter-high opening suddenly appeared. She placed the Black Serpent on the ground and allowed it to crawl toward the swamp on its own.
Freya stood up, her gaze calmly fixed on a Black Serpent that had just plunged into the swamp.
"Consider it a form of compensation," she said.
Now that she had merged with the Royal Serpent Bloodline, if she were to reach the peak form of the King Cobra, Sakuya Lan Snake would theoretically be considered her descendant.
After pausing for a moment, Freya turned and walked into the estate.
...
Second.
On a steep slope outside Blackstone City.
Two figures stood quietly there.
Nick, dressed in a Red Robe with a hood, squinted as she gazed into the distance. At her waist hung two crimson Scimitars, their scabbards wrapped tightly with black Thin Lines, giving them an eerie appearance.
Beside her stood Brian, a white-robed wizard, respectfully positioned behind her, his expression complex as he looked at Nick's back.
Cold winds occasionally swept across the slope, causing the edges of their Cloaks to flutter slightly.
After an unknown amount of time, Nick's cold voice suddenly reached Brian's ears.
"Earlier, that guy crushed Valerian directly, and you were knocked to the ground in one blow while easily shedding your Desperate Armor?"
"Yes, my lady," Brian replied, lowering his head.
"To be able to take both of you out simultaneously like that exceeds Second-Level Wizard capabilities; only a Third-Rank Wizard could achieve such power," Nick said, a strange glint flashing in her eyes. "How is this possible?"
While others might not know Freya, she was aware that when the two had encountered each other in the Rune Department, Freya had only been an ordinary First-Level Wizard. Although they hadn't fought at that time, they could roughly gauge each other's strength.
But how long has it been? The wizard who was originally at a similar level as her has already reached such a degree.
It is important to note that she is currently only at the Second Level, and this is largely thanks to her half Flame Sun Scorpion Bloodline, which barely allows her to reach this level.
Could it be some special Cursed Items or something else? Although the group from the Rune Department doesn't have much strength, they are considered top-tier in the field of runes. Perhaps they have developed a special weapon.
Just as she was lost in thought about the reasons behind this, a faint sound suddenly appeared behind the two of them.
It was Freya, dressed in a white robe with red edges, gently walking towards them.
When she was about a meter away from them, she stopped and calmly looked at the two who had turned around.
"Well, Nick, what did you want to talk to me about?"
"Freya," Nick squinted his eyes as he looked Freya up and down. A faint Scorpion mark quietly appeared on the back of her hand.
There was only a level one Crystallization Level mental fluctuation around her. She had no special weapons, and there was no strong energy response from the pouch at her waist.
After a pause, she glanced at Brian beside her and said lightly, "This is your matter; you handle it yourself."
Hearing Nick's words, Brian was slightly taken aback, looking at the Blonde Witch in front of him. He seemed reluctant to face Freya but felt compelled to step forward due to Nick's command.
After a long moment, he took a step forward and spoke respectfully, "Lady Freya, regarding the armor you took earlier, I would like to redeem it with other resources. That armor holds great significance for my family."
"Resources?" Freya tilted her head. "What kind of resources do you plan to offer?"
Aside from a large amount of Bloodline Power, she truly does not lack any resources at the moment.
No Toy Room. The resources recently plundered from various Wizard Organizations by Blood Eagle Territory alone are enough for all the wizards in Blood Eagle Territory to use, including some very rare resource materials.
"This is it." Brian took out a roll of yellow parchment from his waist, bound with a red string. An ancient aura emanated from the parchment.
"Oh, what is this?" Freya looked at the parchment with an interested expression.
"This is knowledge passed down from our family since Ancient Times. You will surely be satisfied," Brian explained.
"Passed down from ancient times." Freya lightly snapped her fingers. "Let me see."
A strand of dark blue wind appeared beneath the scroll, controlling itself to fly in front of Freya.
Nick, who witnessed this scene, slightly narrowed her eyes. It seemed she sensed something; her nose twitched, and a serious expression suddenly emerged in her eyes.
What is this? There are no mental fluctuations or energy signatures; it is just like natural wind. How is this level of concealment achieved?
Freya, not paying attention to Nick's wandering thoughts, casually glanced at the parchment she had obtained, her interest growing stronger.
The parchment was indeed written in Ancient Wizard script and detailed a special biological experiment process.
From Freya's perspective, the record of this experiment was extremely rough, but some elements still inspired her with unique ideas.
After a long while, she put away the parchment and looked up at Brian.
"This experiment on the separation of biological consciousness is quite interesting; however, it seems incomplete. What about the other parts?"
"Lady Freya," Brian glanced back at Nick behind him. After receiving a nod from her, he continued, "The remaining half of the scroll is with me. Now then, my armor..."
"I understand." Freya took out the Black Box from her waist and opened it. Inside, the Silver Sphere seemed to sense something and emitted a faint glow.
Seeing the armor transformed into a Silver Sphere, Brian's eyes lit up. However, he did not impulsively throw out the remaining data; instead, he reached for another identical parchment roll.
"This is the complete experimental record, including the final results and some special handling methods, as long as you give me the armor."
While he was still speaking, Freya suddenly revealed a hint of a smile.
"That ancient experiment is quite interesting, but do you think a mere experimental record is enough to exchange for this armor? Or do you think the value of this armor is only worth that?"
Brian seemed taken aback by Freya's response; his previously excited demeanor faltered slightly, and his expression turned somewhat grim.
"Then, may I ask what else Lady Freya desires?"
As a member of the Elk Wizard Family within Crimson Plain and a subordinate of Nick, he had some understanding of the power dynamics in Blood Eagle Territory. Common precious resources would hardly impress her.
"What I need is the manufacturing process and specific details of this armor. How about it? This request isn't excessive, right?" Freya smiled.
"This..." Brian hesitated. "Actually, this armor was not made by our family; rather, it was obtained by one of our ancestors from a ruined site. That site has likely been completely submerged due to the passage of time. Lord Nick can confirm this."
"Hmm?" Freya glanced at Nick behind Brian, who slightly nodded in acknowledgment.
"Is that so? If that's the case, then I'm afraid I cannot give you this armor," Freya feigned disappointment. "I am far more curious about the technology of this Ancient Wizard than about the experimental record you provided. What a pity."
"But..." As Freya closed the Black Box in her hand and turned to leave, a hint of urgency flashed in Brian's eyes. He turned back to Nick and silently mouthed something.
Moments later, Nick suddenly flickered and appeared before Freya.
"Freya, wait a moment."
"Oh?" Freya looked at Nick blocking her path and raised an eyebrow. "Lord Nick, what do you want? You should know that in Blood Eagle Territory, there are rules against private duels among core members. Are you suggesting that Lord Nick wants to break the law?"
Nick gazed deeply into Freya's wine-red eyes for a long time before a smile curved her lips.
"I certainly know the rules, but the rules only prohibit private duels, not exchange-style competitions. We haven't seen each other for such a long time, and I just want to have a perfect outcome from that first time. What do you think?"
"An exchange-style competition?" Freya slightly lowered her head, as if contemplating something.
Seeing Freya lost in thought, Nick continued with a hint of disdain in his tone. "Of course, you don't have to agree, but the armor..."
Suddenly, an exceptionally dangerous aura surged toward them.
Without thinking much, Nick's pupils constricted, and he flipped his hands over. With a clang, his twin blades crossed in front of his face.
Boom!
The air around them exploded in a circle of white mist, and then a red figure shot backward like a cannonball. To be continued.
