Chapter 359:
After the three exchanged pleasantries for a while, they took the initiative to walk over to the stabilized stone platform to prepare something.
Standing not far away, Freya could vaguely see the two expert wizards from Stellar Tower taking something out of their portable cases.
Then, one of the wizards flicked his hand, and a green beam of light instantly vanished into the World Rift.
The originally one-meter-high crack quickly expanded into a pitch-black hole with a diameter of about two meters.
A foul-smelling breeze spread out from the black hole, causing the ordinary grass beside the stone platform to rapidly turn yellow and wither, soon transforming into a pile of Black Ash.
Freya, with the keen sense of smell of a King Cobra, frowned slightly and took a step back. She could faintly feel an overwhelming sensation emanating from the wind blowing out of the black hole.
"Is this the world will of the Lower World? Truly primitive and savage."
Such worlds generally belong to uncivilized primitive periods. Perhaps in the future, some creatures might evolve intelligence and usher in their own era, but that is not the case now.
Moreover, now that it has been discovered by Blood Eagle Territory, it seems that the future of that world is already doomed.
Although the other wizards did not have Freya's sharp senses, they also changed their expressions slightly upon seeing the changes in the surrounding grass.
However, soon after, the Stellar Tower wizard slowly opened his palm, and a faint White Light halo quickly enveloped the World Rift. The halo seemed to have a filtering effect, alleviating the previous signs.
After completing these actions, all three stepped down from the stone platform and walked toward the temporary camp.
As they left, Meilong glanced back at Seth, and then a faint blue light appeared on his fingernail, seemingly a message coming through.
Once the three entered a luxurious tent that had been prepared earlier, Seth paused for a moment before turning to face all the wizards from the Rune Department.
"Everyone, currently the World Rift has just been expanded by two esteemed individuals from Stellar Tower. The passage will require some time to stabilize. During this period, you can study various parameters regarding the World Rift to facilitate the establishment of future world connection passages. As for timing, Lord Meilong will provide notification."
It seems that the title of Deputy Director means freedom of movement during this period. Freya raised her head, looking at the expanded World Rift with interest.
Seth, who had completed his task, seemed to understand her meaning as he smiled and invited her.
"Shall we go take a look? This is my second time encountering this phenomenon; after all, the data in the documents is not as vivid as reality."
"Of course," Freya nodded.
Soon, the two of them walked up to the stone platform. Besides them, several other wizards from the Rune Department also approached, each beginning to test and study the properties of the World Rift in their own way.
This intuitive experience undoubtedly provided significant assistance to the wizards' research progress.
Walking at the forefront, Freya felt the faint yet powerful aura that had been filtered through. She took out a silver cylinder from her waist and gently pressed a protrusion at its base. The cylinder vibrated slightly and began to emit a subtle pulling force, as if absorbing something.
As time passed, the cylinder emitted a 'hiss' sound and stopped vibrating. A stream of information flowed from Freya's arm into her mind.
"The activity level of Energy Particles is about half that of the Wizarding World. It seems that inertia is not very strong, while Negative Energy and water-type energy are much more active compared to other types."
After conducting a few simple tests, Freya slowly raised her head, a hint of green flashing in her azure pupils.
She quietly activated the Magic Weapon at her waist that enhanced her sensing ability. Countless transparent mental tendrils spread out like a web under her control towards the World Rift.
Information began to flow back from the mental tendrils into her brain, where it was analyzed, digested, and categorized in memory.
Freya stood still in place.
After an unknown amount of time had passed, when most of the wizards on the stone platform had left, she finally came back to her senses.
Turning around, Freya noticed that aside from herself, only one unfamiliar wizard was still studying something, while Seth and the others seemed to have left long ago.
Glancing at the various items beneath the Wizard, Freya then left the stone platform.
The Azure Sky was dotted with a few white clouds. A gentle breeze swept across the grassland.
In the distance, supplies being transported from the Airship were being assembled by professionals.
It wouldn't be long before this became a new outpost for the Blood Eagle Territory.
Walking to her tent in the area designated for the Rune Department, Freya found that although these tents served as temporary accommodations, everything inside was prepared to the highest standards, almost like a luxury hotel.
After entering the tent, Freya gently pressed at the entrance, and a green ripple flashed by, instantly isolating all mental waves and energy signatures outside.
Having done this, Freya took off her White Robe and hung it on a nearby rack before sitting down at her desk.
On the desk lay some blank sheets of paper and a Feather Pen.
After lightly dipping the Feather Pen into the ink, Freya began to write down some of her recent analyses.
As time passed, the sun outside the round window of the tent began to tilt westward, and the glow of the setting sun gradually spread across the land, casting a light golden hue over the grassland.
With a soft 'thud,' Freya gently placed the Feather Pen back into its ink bottle and frowned slightly as she looked at her notes on the table.
"The distance between worlds varies; it is based on World Coordinates for mutual positioning. The World Barrier of the Wizarding World has become quite unstable due to the Ancient War. Worlds that are closer together can easily experience natural phenomena similar to a World Rift, connecting two worlds. Wizards exploit this situation for purposes such as invasion or trade. However, this situation has both advantages and disadvantages. Some Otherworldly Creatures, Force Fields, and other entities from worlds of similar levels to the Wizarding World are gradually altering its stable structure and causing changes. Nevertheless, these matters don't concern me much; instead, I might be able to take advantage of those weak points in the World Barrier for personal travel between worlds in the future."
Freya faintly sensed that this situation in the Wizarding World was very similar to what she had encountered with the World Tower.
However, compared to the gaps between worlds where the World Tower resided, the Wizarding World was relatively much more stable.
The knowledge of spatial properties cannot be thoroughly studied all at once. This encounter with the World Rift has allowed Freya to understand this area better, which will greatly aid her current exploration of the Hell World, even without considering future implications.
After reviewing her notes, Freya left her desk and walked to the window to relax her mind, which had been deep in thought.
Outside, the sky was gradually darkening, and a few enormous birds were faintly circling above.
Those were the giant eagles of the Guardianship Force, serving as patrols.
Not far from the tent, some idle wizards had actually lit a bonfire, seemingly roasting something.
Next to them was a long table covered with a white cloth. On it were various foods like pastries, salads, and wine.
Taking a light breath, just as Freya turned around to continue her previous tasks, a faint blue light suddenly glowed between her fingers, and Seth's voice came through the mark.
"Freya, we have prepared a bonfire party here. Since we're all from the same department, would you like to join us?"
"I—"
Freya opened her mouth to refuse but suddenly reconsidered. Although she worked in the Rune Department, she was only familiar with a few colleagues. Now that most of the Rune Department members were present, it would be a good opportunity to get acquainted and enhance academic exchanges.
After a brief moment of thought, Freya raised her finger and replied directly.
"Okay, I'll be there shortly."
Pausing for a moment, she walked over to the coat rack, put on her robe again, and then exited the tent.
The slightly damp cool breeze brushed against Freya's cheeks, causing a few strands of hair to cover her face.
Stepping onto the soft grass, Freya quickly walked over to the campfire. Above it, a creature resembling a deer was being roasted, its golden-brown skin starting to ooze fat that dripped into the fire with a sizzling sound.
A few wizards were gathered around a long table, holding wine glasses and smiling as they chatted. Freya noticed Seth talking to a silver-haired wizard, occasionally nodding in agreement.
Perhaps sensing Freya's presence, Seth looked up, smiled, and waved her over.
As Freya approached, he spoke casually.
"How's it going? Any results from your research on the World Rift? I saw you were there for quite a while and didn’t want to wake you."
In response to Seth's question, Freya smiled.
"It's going well; I have some ideas, but I'm not sure if they're correct."
"Oh? That quickly? No wonder you're Freya," Seth replied, slightly taken aback.
However, he wisely refrained from asking more questions immediately and turned to introduce the silver-haired wizard beside him.
"This is my friend Sean, who came from the Blackwind Valley outpost."
"Hello, I'm Sean," the silver-haired wizard said with a peculiar gesture.
"Hello, I'm Freya," she replied with a slight nod. But upon seeing his mannerisms and hair color, she suddenly thought of something and asked, "Are you from Sask?"
"That's right; you're quite knowledgeable," Sean nodded.
Sask is a medium-sized country located in the Northern Snowfield of the City of Environment, where most people have white hair and possess their own Sask culture. Since Freya had collaborated with Klyent many times, she knew quite a bit about the culture there.
What surprised Freya was that a Sask person would travel such a great distance to reach Blood Eagle Territory.
To know, the Wizard Organization in the City of Illusions and Sky City are roughly equal in strength, so there is really no need to come all the way here for studies.
However, I was only curious about Freya and did not ask further.
After a brief self-introduction, we engaged in some discussions about other runes and academic topics.
During the conversation, Freya sensed the energy aura surrounding Sean and noticed that he was enveloped in a considerable concentration of Fire Element Energy Particles, which were slowly intertwining in a rhythmic manner.
Clearly, it was related to the Advanced Meditation Method concerning Fire Element from her Blood Eagle Territory.
Seeing this, Freya turned to Seth and suddenly said, "By the way, Seth, you are now at Second Level, practicing Winds of Oblivion, right?"
Upon hearing Freya's question, Seth instinctively nodded and asked in confusion, "That's right. What's up?"
"I am close to reaching the Second Level in my mental power. I just wanted to ask what abilities come with Winds of Oblivion," Freya smiled.
"I see," Seth replied thoughtfully before answering directly. "Actually, the ability of the Second Level Winds of Oblivion is similar to an elemental life form that acts like a clone. It can help you with certain tasks and is much more convenient than summoning an elemental life yourself; there's nothing particularly special about it."
"Oh, is that so?" Freya nodded in understanding. "What about the Third Level Winds of Oblivion? Is it also a somewhat useless ability?"
"As for the Third Level Winds of Oblivion, I only know that it seems to be some kind of aura ability. However, I'm not very clear on the specifics. Even though I've been at Second Level for over thirty years and my mental power is about to reach the standard for promotion to Third Level, I still feel uncertain. You see, if the promotion fails, although it won't lead to death, it would be a disaster for anyone," Seth said somewhat embarrassedly. "Perhaps I lack the courage to pursue truth and improve myself."
"Hehe, it's okay; being a Second-Level Wizard is not bad after all. Not every wizard seeks those things," Freya reassured him with a smile.
Listening to Freya's comfort, Seth looked up at her.
"Speaking of which, Freya, I remember from your file that you are not yet thirty, right?"
"Yes," Freya nodded. "Is there a problem?"
"Not really, just reflecting that reaching the Second-Level Wizard at such a young age means your talent must be at least fourth rank or above. With such potential, you might be able to sit in the Deputy Director position within a century."
Freya was speechless at Seth's teasing.
"That's impossible. There are many in our department with greater potential than mine, and there are plenty at the Second Level as well. I'm still just an ordinary member, so don't say that."
"But based on your age ratio, your promotion speed is probably second only to Murphy, who has already left his mentor." Seth looked at Freya with a half-smile. "Do you know how many years it took me to reach my current level?"
"Hmm?"
"I took eighty-five years, and Sean took about seventy years as well."
"It's exactly seventy years," Sean nodded from the side, his gaze towards Freya carrying a hint of something unusual. (To be continued.)
