Chapter Three Hundred Forty-Seven
Like an endless rift stretching open.
A damp wind rushed towards Freya.
In her line of sight, the rift that had been stretched to its limit suddenly closed.
Crash!
It was as if a whole section of the earth had vanished, and the entire massive mushroom forest, along with various underground creatures drawn in, disappeared into the rift.
As it devoured the mushroom forest, the orange-yellow Cyclops slowly closed, transforming back into black soil.
It was as if the previous scene had been merely an illusion.
Freya stared blankly at everything that had just happened before her. Suddenly, she seemed to recall something, and a green light flashed in her eyes.
"The rich Bloodline Aura from that creature seems to be from Ancient Beasts."
Although she had yet to condense the first form of King Cobra, her instincts as a predator allowed Freya to sense the ancient and decayed aura emanating from that creature.
"Could it be that those enormous and terrifying beings from ancient times did not completely perish due to war and environmental changes? Instead, they chose to lie dormant underground?" Freya speculated. "Is this also why the Tree of Life and Spring of Life were discovered?"
Freya faintly felt as if she had truly stumbled upon some important clue.
After pondering for a long time, she looked towards the surface, which had returned to normal, as if she had made a decision, and flew straight downwards.
"This powerful aura might still possess intelligence, and perhaps it can communicate."
The black Leather Boots stepped on the ground as Freya looked around. Finally, she discovered a subtle presence.
It was an extremely fine crack that was nearly invisible if one did not pay attention.
"This is where that eye appeared just now."
After pondering for a moment, Freya suddenly extended her hands, covering the ground beneath her.
A circle of green light slowly emerged from behind her, forming a massive Green Serpent that coiled upward.
The Green Serpent's eyeless gaze focused on the ground below, and immense Spiritual Messages were injected into it.
However, the feedback received was nothing at all, as if the land beneath her was merely land.
"Could it be asleep?"
Freya frowned slightly with her palms pressed against the ground.
"If conventional mental communication doesn't work, then how about this?"
She straightened up and drew the Black Cross Sword from her waist.
With a 'whoosh,' the 1.5-meter-long Cross Sword plunged entirely into the ground, leaving only the hilt exposed.
A flash of Azure light illuminated the hilt as a sharp aura extended downward toward the earth once more.
Three minutes later, the Azure Light on the sword hilt gradually faded.
Freya silently stared at the sword hilt for a long time before pulling it from the ground and sheathing it at her waist.
After a pause, she flew again in the direction of Soulbug's memories.
Not long after she left, colorful giant mushrooms began to sprout from the ground, and a straight green river slowly emerged from beneath the earth.
"Mental communication is ineffective, and aggressive stimuli have no effect. The prolonged passage of time has caused its intelligence to gradually decline, reducing it to instinctual predation in slumber until its body completely dies. Perhaps the soul of this Ancient Beast has long been extinguished, yet its body still instinctively exhibits characteristics of Collapse predation. However, it seems to have aged to the point where it can only use bait as a means of hunting. Soon, it will likely merge completely with the land, and all signs of its former existence will vanish."
This unintentional encounter with the Ancient Beast made Freya feel that compared to the surface, the Underworld retained far more ancient relics.
"Perhaps besides this one Ancient Beast, there are other creatures hidden somewhere."
Freya felt as if she had unknowingly stepped into a place that even the wizards of the Underworld had not explored...
Two months later.
In a vast and lush underground forest.
Deep green giant trees stood like enormous pillars, their wide leaves resembling mouths that slightly opened and closed, absorbing light and water from their surroundings.
Following Soulbug's memories, Freya flew in the air, observing this massive forest.
A strangely familiar feeling enveloped her heart, as if this forest held a sense of déjà vu.
"According to the route in my memory, this is the forest where the remnants of the Tree of Life and the Spring of Life were discovered, and also where the Soulbug accidentally wandered in. I've finally found it."
Controlling her form, she slowly descended, her shoes crunching on the thick leaves beneath her.
Freya turned her head and noticed that the surrounding trees and vegetation were much larger than usual.
A line of black beetles, each about the size of a fist, scurried past her and soon disappeared into the leaves on the ground.
A faint damp smell lingered in the air as Freya gently sniffed the atmosphere around her.
"The scent of life here is indeed quite rich."
After a pause, she flew directly toward the area where the life energy was most concentrated.
An hour later.
The trees around her had grown even larger, with ordinary insects now nearly the size of basins.
These common creatures seemed to be very afraid of Freya's presence, avoiding her from a distance as soon as she approached.
However, even so, some slower ones were still drained of their blood to serve as her sustenance.
Pushing aside a large leaf that blocked her path, Freya slightly raised her head.
Around the tall trees, there were faint blue-green lights flickering, and an unusually fresh aura emanated from the air.
All plants and animals enveloped by this aura exhibited a sense of great comfort.
Freya withdrew her gaze, and her arms moved slightly. The black armor attached to her arms immediately retracted, revealing arms covered in black eyes.
These black eyes seemed to sense something, their pupils restlessly darting around.
Freya gently touched the unconscious floating light spots with her arms.
With a soft sound, the eyeball that was touched by the light spots immediately shriveled up, transforming into a cloud of pitch-black smoke that flew up from her arm.
However, just as this black mist flew up, it quickly reattached to her arm, and a new eyeball grew back.
Yet, Freya felt a surge of joy at this sign.
"Indeed, once the life force becomes dense to the extreme, it can completely dispel the decayed and cold aura from below. Klyent's information was indeed correct!"
Taking a deep breath, Freya continued forward.
Two hours later.
The light spots appearing in the forest began to thicken, resembling large clusters of fireflies. They felt very pleasant against Freya's body.
Sensing that these light spots posed no danger, she decided to remove the Cursed Items and allowed these light spots to pass through her ordinary clothing into her body.
Suddenly, Freya shuddered. A special clarity emerged in her mind.
"Huh? My mental strength is gradually increasing even without meditation?"
Originally, her study of Winds of Oblivion became unusually slow after reaching the Second Level. She could only enhance her mental strength through the Bloodline.
However, it would take a long time to reach the level of a Third-Rank Wizard. Yet now, after absorbing these light points, she clearly felt her mental strength increasing at a speed comparable to meditation.
"Incredible. I really don't know how the Soulbug managed to enter this forest back then."
To find this forest, Freya had flown continuously for two months in the Underworld.
At her speed, she could almost travel from Cloud City to Dragon Harbor. If it weren't for the absorption aura that replenished her energy, she wouldn't have been able to sustain herself for such a long time.
Moreover, although she encountered a few troublesome situations along the way, she ultimately managed to find this place smoothly.
Just as she was quietly experiencing the rapid growth of her mental strength, suddenly, a faint commotion came from afar.
Freya looked towards the sound and saw a group of translucent White Elks running swiftly through the forest.
Each of these elk stood about three meters tall and had massive bodies, yet they made no sound as they galloped through the forest.
Trailing behind them was a dense Green Light Spot; these light points were highly concentrated, resembling a large veil of green mist drifting behind the Herd of Deer, elegant and agile.
"What is this?"
Watching these beautiful creatures disappear into the forest in no time, Freya recalled the last scene from the Soulbug's memory.
The remnants of the Tree of Life and the spring appeared after this group of creatures.
Calming her excited heart, Freya quickly ran towards the place where the elk had vanished.
In a dense thicket, a green halo appeared in Freya's line of sight.
She gently pushed aside the grass, and a massive, incomplete giant tree suddenly emerged before her.
The giant tree was entirely green, with unevenly damaged areas. Next to it were thick, green vines adorned with needle-like leaves.
A rich aura of life mixed with a unique spiritual fluctuation emanated from the giant tree.
"Tree of Life."
Upon seeing this enormous tree and sensing its aura, combined with her knowledge from King Cobra Legacy, Freya immediately identified the giant tree's identity.
After a moment's pause, she walked directly to the giant tree and lightly leaped onto the remnants of the Tree of Life.
Standing atop the ancient tree, Freya felt as if she were on the back of a prostrate giant, an unusual sensation enveloping her heart.
Furrowing her brow, she looked toward the center of the ancient tree. There, strands of green liquid gathered from the remnants of the ancient tree's Wind Element at its core, forming a pool of green spring water.
"So the Spring of Life is actually the sap of the Tree of Life."
She murmured softly and glanced down at her arm.
A large patch of black eyes on her arm began to twist restlessly. The aura of the Tree of Life was completely opposite to that of hell.
Freya faintly sensed that the cold, decaying feeling that had lingered around her for so long was gradually receding from her body.
After standing still for a moment, she walked directly toward the Spring of Life.
As her feet stepped into the spring water, a warm sensation spread from beneath her feet, as if she had entered a pool of warm water that could dispel all her fatigue.
With Freya's entrance, the green spring water seemed to come alive, automatically clinging to her body.
However, Freya made no move in response.
In her mental perception and Bloodline sensing, there was no hint of danger from the spring water.
Freya ventured deeper into the spring, and as her entire head gradually submerged, tendrils of black smoke peeled away from behind her.
The countless black eyes on her arms were rapidly shrinking, revealing her original skin.
The Hellish Aura that had been entangled with her was quickly retreating, then torn apart and dissipated by the rich life force.
As the corrupting power receded, Freya immediately felt her previously dormant Elemental Power reawakening.
Tendrils of Azure Wind once again surrounded her.
However, as the corrupting power was expelled, Freya also sensed her mental strength rapidly increasing, while the Bloodline of the King Cobra seemed to stir restlessly.
An Ancient Voice seemed to faintly penetrate into her mind through this spring water.
The voice was distant enough that she could not make out what it was saying.
Just as Freya felt slightly dazed.
‘Puff!’
A faint sound echoed as countless white bubbles emerged above her head.
Raising her gaze, Freya squinted slightly, a lazy sense of comfort making her want to close her eyes.
In a daze, she seemed to see thick vines flying toward her, quickly enveloping her body.
Outside the Spring of Life, all the branches of the Tree of Life began to converge toward the center.
Before long, they formed a massive green cocoon...
In the haze of light and shadow, the earth and sky seemed to be spinning constantly.
Freya floated in mid-air like a spirit, gently opening her eyes.
The Blazing White sun illuminated the green earth.
Under the Azure Sky, various enormous creatures appeared before her in the vast forest.
Most of these creatures were very unfamiliar, yet they felt strangely familiar to Freya.
Moreover, the images were exceptionally clear, as if they were real.
Looking around at this strange place with a hint of confusion, Freya paused slightly.
"Where is this?"
In her bewilderment, a green light fell from a large tree.
It was a slender brown seed, about the size of a thumb, with one end inserted into the moist soil and the other end exposed to the air.
Freya watched this delicate seed and soon noticed that it was burrowing deep into the ground by itself.
The Azure Sky gradually turned pitch black as night fell, and a multitude of stars sprinkled across the sky.
Before long, the darkness receded, and sunlight returned once again.
As time slowly passed, a tender green plant began to emerge from the soil.
It stretched its body, welcoming the sunlight and dew, growing rapidly.
The Seedling gradually rose higher, and the Trunk started to thicken and lengthen. Although it occasionally became ragged due to the gnawing of certain creatures, it quickly returned to its original state.
