Chapter Three Hundred Thirty-Nine:
"Hello, Goat Sister, I am Soulbug. Let's discuss the transaction inside."
The familiar hoarse voice made Freya lift her head slightly.
She saw that the person's face at the second-floor window was completely hidden under a hood, but strangely, two long black tendrils were protruding from the top of their head.
They resembled insect antennae and were slightly quivering.
Without saying a word, Freya walked directly to the wooden cabin and gently pushed the wooden door.
Ding ding ding
A series of crisp metallic or glass clinking sounds came as the wooden door brushed against a golden delicate wind chime nearby.
Ignoring the sound of the wind chime, Freya glanced inside the wooden cabin.
There were two tall wooden Metal Racks, a rectangular table, and several chairs, all looking very simple and plain.
On top of the two Metal Racks were some flower pots and instruments resembling violins. The flower pots contained mushrooms glowing with Azure light, each featuring a simple smiling face that looked both cute and eerie.
"Underground Devil's Glow Mushroom?"
Looking at those mushrooms with children's smiling faces, Freya frowned slightly, paused for a moment, and then headed towards the wooden stairs inside the cabin.
Her black hard-soled boots creaked against the floor, making a sound that suggested they could crack the surface with just a little more pressure.
Freya cautiously made her way to the second floor of the wooden cabin.
The second floor was even simpler, containing only a round table and two chairs. On the table sat two cups of green drink, emitting a refreshing aroma.
The mysterious representative of Soulbug was seated in one of the chairs, watching Freya approach.
He gestured to the chair in front of him, his hoarse voice carrying a hint of amusement.
"Goat Sister, please have a seat. I think we can discuss the details of our transaction."
However, Freya did not move at his invitation. Standing at the top of the stairs, her voice was slightly cold as she replied.
"No need for that. I have other matters to attend to. Just give me the information about that item directly. I can pay at any time."
"There's no need to rush," Soulbug said lightly, tapping the table. "In fact, I'm not very concerned about the resources you mentioned. What I need are some other things."
"Oh? What do you want?" Freya's pupils flickered with a hint of green light. Her tone then turned grim. "Or do you intend to break the rules of our transaction?"
In her King Cobra's line of sight, the face hidden beneath the hood suddenly brightened, revealing a beetle's head. Two black net-like compound eyes and pincers-like mandibles were visible, along with antennae beside its mouthparts.
"Indeed, a wizard from beneath the earth, seemingly from the insect tribe."
"Of course not," Soulbug quickly waved his hand in response to Freya's subtle threat. "However, you are aware of the rarity of that item. Moreover, it is associated with the appearance of an ancient tree; its value has already surpassed what you offered in the transaction."
"I don't want the ancient tree; I only need that item," Freya frowned.
She understood that this Underworld Sorcerer was temporarily trying to raise the price. However, this was unavoidable.
Although she didn't know whether the information left by Soulbug was true or false, if it really involved the remnants of the ancient tree, then its value would be higher than Freya's entire fortune.
"Well, of course, I understand. The remnants of the ancient tree are unpredictable, but if you help me with one thing, I can provide you with information about that area without any additional conditions," Soulbug said calmly.
Without saying a word, Freya's deep blue eyes fixed intently on the bug-like face hidden beneath his hood.
Soulbug seemed a bit unnerved under Freya's gaze, his previously indifferent expression showing signs of retreat.
After a long while, Freya finally withdrew her gaze and slowly spoke.
"If you exceed the value, you won't want to know the consequences."
"I understand," Soulbug replied with an awkward smile. "You just need to help me kill someone; it's actually quite simple. Afterward, I'll tell you all the information."
"Killing?" Freya pondered for a moment before raising her head. "I need detailed information."
"No problem." He seemed to have prepared for this earlier and quickly pulled out a stack of white papers from behind and placed them on the table. "The specific details are all here; take a look."
Looking at the papers on the table, Freya waved her hand, and the documents flew into her grasp.
She casually flipped through them and grasped the general information inside.
Soulbug provided her with details about a leader of a Wizard Organization that was originally stationed in Lion City, approximately at the level of a First-Level Crystallized Wizard, specializing in earth magic.
Due to the cleansing of Blood Eagle Territory, this organization had collapsed, and the leader was now wandering near Dark Gorge with some resources, not knowing what he intended to do.
This person had little background or family before the organization collapsed, the most impressive thing being that they once had a third-level wizard as a teacher, but they hadn't been in contact for many years.
After thinking for a moment, Freya lightly snapped her fingers, and the documents in her hand quickly ignited, turning to ashes that scattered throughout the room.
In an instant, a faint burnt smell filled the entire wooden house.
"Alright, I agree, but after this..."
"I will tell you all the information, no need to worry," Soulbug chuckled. "After all, we both belong to the Toy Room; we still have some credibility."
Ignoring his words, Freya turned around and walked down the stairs.
"In the future, I will take action, and I hope you will be present then."
"Sure thing."
...
Later.
In the western part of Blackwind Gorge, amidst a sparse forest.
Freya, dressed in a white robe with a hood, stood quietly beside a large tree as the cold wind rustled her clothing.
To her left, Soulbug was sprinkling some black powder around them to mask their scent.
In front of them, at a distance, stood a simple stone house made of gray stones, isolated and solitary. At the top of the stone house was a chimney emitting wisps of blue smoke.
Narrowing her eyes, Freya glanced at the Stone House and then at the Underworld Sorcerer beside her.
"You haven't left this Stone House for two days, have you?"
"That's right." The Soulbug straightened up and clapped his hands, chuckling. "That guy had some grudges with me in the past, and now that he's in this situation, it's the perfect opportunity for me."
"Hmph."
Freya snorted, clearly unconvinced; his tone and demeanor were nothing like his usual self.
However, she didn't intend to delve into their relationship any further.
After waiting for two minutes, the Soulbug murmured a strange incantation, and suddenly a Black Light flashed around them.
"That should do it, Goat Sister. You can proceed now." (To be continued)
