Chapter Three Hundred and Twenty-Two:
According to legend, Hell is the place where all souls go after death, and the beings that exist there are more or less related to souls.
In some wizards' tomes, there are records of hellish beasts composed entirely of pure souls.
These creatures, existing in a realm between reality and nothingness, cannot be captured or studied.
Moreover, such beings can only survive in Hell.
As her vision began to return to normal, Freya narrowed her eyes and focused on the direction where the Reconnaissance Seed had been destroyed.
"Hell's Mouth, Hell Guardian. If I'm not mistaken, this should be a Lost Garden, a bizarre place where anything could appear."
From what Freya knew, the conditions for the appearance of a Lost Garden usually involved a certain number of deaths reaching a critical point, forming an area of intense Grievance and Death Qi.
Everything inside appears randomly but is accompanied by various powerful curses and spirits.
However, conversely, the Lost Garden also holds countless potential opportunities.
Freya was aware of some details about this type of area; the Mysterious Key she had used previously could only be found in such places or major ruins.
Once inside a Lost Garden, unless one quietly waits for the garden to disappear on its own or gets lucky enough to find an exit, there is no way to leave.
"I didn't expect a Lost Garden to appear in Yule Forest; this is truly surprising."
After a moment of contemplation, Freya headed in that direction.
The muddy ground felt soft and strange underfoot.
The surrounding White Mist was mixed with a light drizzle, giving the entire forest an eerie ambiance.
As she walked, she remained vigilant of her surroundings; the Lost Garden was also a troublesome place for an Official Wizard.
However, for Freya, this was undoubtedly an opportunity.
Especially with rare species like the Hell Guardian, as a descendant of the King Cobra, she had a keen interest in various powerful Bloodlines.
As she approached the Reconnaissance Seed, the trees in the surrounding White Mist began to grow taller.
The towering branches swayed gently in the wind, as if countless hands were waving in greeting.
Freya glanced at the nearby large tree and pressed her hand against it. The rough texture of the bark transmitted a sensation through her fingers, revealing nothing unusual.
Withdrawing her hand and turning back, she continued forward.
However, just after Freya had left, a hole slowly appeared in the trunk she had just touched.
Inside the hole was pitch black, with only a black key inserted within. The end of the key was a white eyeball, its black pupil rapidly contracting as it curiously scanned its surroundings.
Ten minutes later, Freya arrived at the Black Well she had seen near the Reconnaissance Seed.
Standing in the shadow of the large tree, Freya could clearly see black liquid spilling out from the well.
It emitted a strong smell of blood.
A figure in a black robe, known as Tall Shadow, was pouring something into the well using an Iron Bucket.
Occasionally, sounds of splashing could be heard.
After a moment of thought, Freya stepped out of the shadow, but the Hell Warden seemed oblivious to her presence and continued with his task.
Even when Freya deliberately walked in front of him, blocking his path, he remained focused on what he was doing.
Looking at the Hell Guardian's bizarre two-faced visage, she frowned and extended a finger.
"Shh!"
The Azure Thin Line swept across his neck, and with a loud 'thud', his head fell to the ground, black-brown blood immediately gushing out.
Strangely, it released a series of sweet and fragrant aromas.
Moreover, the headless body continued executing its previous actions.
Watching the blood flowing from the severed neck, Freya gently dipped her hand into it and felt a sticky sensation.
"Eh? It's just ordinary molasses. A puppet?"
Frowning at the still-moving Hell Guardian, she felt that something was a bit strange.
However, after observing for a while without any discoveries, Freya directly walked around to the side of the Black Well.
The liquid in the well emitted a strong smell of blood, resembling black oil.
She tried to use a suction spell to draw it out but found it ineffective.
"This doesn't seem like blood either. How about trying this?"
After pondering for a moment, she reached into her pocket and pulled out a Test Tube filled with a transparent liquid.
Removing the stopper, Freya tossed the Test Tube into the mouth of the well.
'Thud.'
The Test Tube plunged into the Black Liquid, slowly sinking, yet nothing unusual occurred.
"The extracted Positive Energy plant liquid didn't react either. Did I guess wrong? Is this not the entrance to hell?"
Just as Freya was feeling puzzled,
'Whoosh'
A warm breeze gently blew past her ear, lifting her golden hair.
"Who?!"
She suddenly turned around, and the surroundings of the White Mist Forest remained silent, unchanged.
Freya narrowed her eyes slightly. In her vision, the calm forest began to faintly reveal numerous black tendrils.
These tendrils were filled with intense malice and evil thoughts, visible only to her unique constitution.
Among them, the presence on her left was particularly strong.
"Hmph!"
Without a second thought, she extended her palm.
With a whoosh, five strands of Azure Thread mixed with Black Light shot forward.
There were two soft sounds, and something fell from the spot where Freya had attacked, rolling out of the shadows.
At that moment, Freya realized it was a woman's head with disheveled black hair and a pale complexion.
The neck of that head was smooth, with no blood flowing out. Half of the face was buried in the ground, but the eyes looked at Freya with a hint of gentleness, and the corners of the mouth slightly lifted in a smile as it rolled toward her with determination.
Looking at the gentle expression on the head, Freya felt an inexplicable sense of intense danger.
She paused for a moment, then pulled with her right hand. Five thin blue lines reappeared, piercing straight toward the constantly rolling head.
"Smack!"
The Thin Line easily penetrated it and pinned it firmly to the ground, and then Freya clenched her fist tightly.
The Thin Line then sliced the head into several pieces, scattering them on the ground like stones.
"What the hell is this?"
Looking at the pile on the ground, Freya realized she hadn't sensed any presence from it before.
If it weren't for her ability to feel Spirits or malevolent intentions, she would never have discovered this thing.
The things inside the Lost Garden were mostly bizarre and could not be judged by common sense.
After a moment, she walked over to the pile of severed heads.
As she crouched down and reached out to touch them, suddenly there was a 'whoosh.'
Those things unexpectedly ignited. Bright yellow flames emitted a faint fragrance, and in no time, they turned into a pile of white powder.
Seeing this powder, Freya's expression slightly tightened.
"The scent of Spirit?"
She paused for a moment and quickly took out an empty Test Tube from her waist pouch to collect the powder.
With the powder in the Test Tube, Freya gently shook it. The powder immediately swirled up as if unaffected by gravity.
She vaguely felt that this powder would greatly aid her research on Spirits.
After placing the Test Tube back in her waist pouch, she walked over to the Black Well.
At this moment, the Test Tube she had previously thrown in had completely sunk, leaving only a thin indentation.
Next to that indentation, two white male Faces slowly floated up.
The Faces slightly opened their cracked mouths, their eyes wide open. Both faces displayed extreme fear, as if they had seen something terrifying.
However, when Freya saw these two Faces, she was clearly taken aback.
"Aren't these the two Black-Robed Wizards?"
The reason she had come here was to pursue these two individuals, but she never expected them to have unexpectedly died in the Lost Garden.
Looking at their terrified expressions, Freya thought for a moment and reached out her palm toward their faces, gently grasping.
Countless hands formed from Azure Wind directly extended into the slime of the Black Well.
'Glug!'
A strange sound echoed, and one of the wizards was dragged out from the liquid.
Large amounts of Black Liquid flowed on the ground, intensifying the surrounding stench of blood.
Freya used her mental power to strip the wizard of his clothing, revealing his bare upper body.
His torso was covered in dense bruises and finger marks, as if he had been dragged to death inside the Black Well.
Gazing at these marks, Freya glanced at the Face still floating in the Black Well, revealing a look of realization.
"It seems that this Hell's Mouth is indeed the lair of some Hell Creature; I just wonder if that fellow is still inside."
After a pause, she dragged the other wizard out from the well as well, laying both corpses side by side.
Not long after pulling out the two bodies, circular bubbles began to slowly rise from the Black Well, and the calm Black Liquid started to churn.
Stepping back two paces, Freya observed the strange phenomenon at this Hell's Mouth.
'Crack!'
With a sharp sound, a pale hand suddenly appeared at the edge of the well. Along with this hand's emergence, a third Face with bulging eyes materialized; it was an unfamiliar male visage, with black hair clinging to the sides of his face and pitch-black eyes devoid of any whites, staring at her with a malicious expression.
"Is this what a Hell Creature looks like? It seems to lack much intelligence."
Freya, under that malicious gaze, displayed a curious expression.
Suddenly, she saw black, smoke-like tendrils beginning to gather around the Face, slowly enveloping her.
"Oh? Can you control Grievance?"
Watching the tendrils approach slowly, Freya took a couple of steps back and easily avoided them. Then she reached out and summoned an Azure Flowing Light in her hand.
"Let's see if this can kill it."
She murmured and then slashed toward the Face.
'Swish!'
With a slight sound, the smooth center of the Face split apart, and then the Face opened its Big Mouth, as if howling in agony, slowly sinking into the Black Well.
"So weak."
Looking at the creature that had sunk into the Black Well, Freya frowned. (To be continued...)
