Chapter 292:
The energy fluctuations flickered quickly.
Before long, a strange character slowly emerged in the center of the Token, resembling an encrypted document.
Looking at the pile of text, Freya removed her hand and stood still in front of the desk.
Kage reached out to pick up the Token and placed it in front of him, lightly tapping the tabletop with his finger, his tone revealing a hint of confusion.
"Is this really the kind of mission?"
"What mission?"
Hearing his tone, Freya frowned and asked.
"Sorry." Kage raised his head, the corners of his mouth slightly twitching beneath his hood.
"This is a somewhat challenging hunting mission. It seems it wasn't originally meant for outsiders. I didn't expect you to draw it. It's impossible to choose again, but I can cancel this mission with my authority. You just need to pay sixty thousand Medium Magic Stones, and I will report it to my superiors. What do you think?"
Freya remained expressionless as she stood in place for a long time before finally speaking.
"I want to try that hunting mission."
"Oh?" Seemingly surprised by Freya's choice, Kage paused for a moment. "Are you sure?"
"Yes." Freya nodded. "I just entered the Crystallization Level, and this is a good opportunity to test my strength at this level. Besides—"
She paused for a moment before continuing. "Besides, I don't think your mission will exceed this level by much, right?"
"Yes," Kage said calmly, glancing at the still shining Token. "The target hunted by that mission is a leaker from my organization, who is also at Crystallization Level, but..."
"Then there’s no problem," Freya interrupted him.
Seeing the witch in front of him so resolute, Kage had nothing more to say.
He fell silent for a moment, then pulled out a triangular Silver Plate from beneath his desk. He gently swept it towards the Token.
With a hissing sound, the Silver Plate began to reveal a map-like pattern, with a Crimson Dot flashing prominently.
Kage handed the palm-sized metal piece to Freya.
"This is the location of his Soul Resonance. I will arrange for someone to take you to the nearest place, and since this mission is nearly double the regular task, I will also send someone to ensure your safety."
"Okay." Freya took the metal piece and tucked it into her waist after memorizing its general location.
Watching her accept the metal piece so decisively, Kage quietly shook his head and pulled out a sheet of paper from various documents on the side, laying it flat on the table.
"Alright, leave your mark."
Without a word, Freya extended her hand and lightly touched the paper, a wisp of Azure Wind brushing past her fingertips.
With a hissing sound, a fierce goat head appeared on the surface.
Looking at the Goat Mark that still shimmered with a faint blue light, Kage nodded and lightly clapped his hands.
Before long, from the darkness behind him, a blonde girl in a Gray Robe stepped forward.
"Master," the girl said respectfully to Kage.
“Sonata, take Lady Freya to the Fourth Teleportation Point,” Kage instructed, turning his head.
“Yes, my lord.”
Receiving the command, the girl walked around the desk and slightly bowed in front of Freya.
“My lady, please.”
Freya nodded gently. She then turned with the blonde girl named Sonata and left the office.
Watching the colorful door slowly close, Kage looked at the agreement stamped with Freya's seal. After a moment, he lightly snapped his fingers.
A wisp of purple smoke gathered in the air, slowly transforming into a purple seal, which then automatically pressed down onto the end of the agreement.
‘Snap’
...
Twenty minutes later.
Freya, guided by Sonata, arrived at a small, isolated room.
Inside the room was a Blue Circular Pool, softly glowing with a deep Blue Light.
Sonata approached the edge of the pool and respectfully addressed Freya.
“My lady, this is the Fourth Teleportation Point.”
Freya frowned as she looked at the blue pool.
Although she was not very familiar with spatial teleportation technology, it was clear to her that this was a tool for individual teleportation.
She pointed at the pool and directly asked, "If I complete my mission, how do I get back?"
"You don't need to worry about that. The silver talisman in your hand not only serves as a locator but also monitors your mission. If you encounter danger or complete your task, we will send someone to retrieve you."
"Is that so?"
She touched the Silver Plate at her waist, nodded, and then walked to the edge of the pool.
Taking a deep breath, she jumped directly into the water.
Splash.
The cold, piercing sensation enveloped her body, but Freya, already mentally prepared, did not panic.
The circular light above her head grew increasingly distant as she squinted her eyes, watching the enormous black hole beneath her. Sure enough, after a short while, an unusual pulling force surged from the black hole.
Without any resistance, Freya was spun around and swallowed by the black hole.
Five minutes later.
An endless golden desert stretched out before her, with a cloudless sky above and a massive sun scorching the earth.
The extreme heat caused the air above the desert surface to shimmer slightly.
Occasionally, a breeze would sweep across the sand, stirring up small whirlwinds.
In this seemingly golden ocean, a faint muffled sound suddenly echoed.
"Bang!"
Then, a blue column of water shot straight up.
It quickly fell back down like heavy rain, rapidly soaking a large area of sand.
Standing in the raindrops, Freya wiped the water from her face and revealed a slight bitter smile.
"600,000 Magic Stones."
Compared to money, hunting the Crystalized Wizard was not a worthwhile endeavor for anyone.
Her rapid growth meant that she had not accumulated many trump cards, and she had far less money than an average Crystalized Wizard.
Thus, she could only choose this path.
Regaining her focus, Freya turned her head and observed the surroundings.
This was an unknown desert. Aside from some creatures, there seemed to be few living beings around.
"To think I could run this far. This place is one where even ordinary wizards wouldn't want to stay, let alone the locals. I didn't expect this guy would hide here."
She murmured to herself as she pulled out the Silver Plate from her waist.
On it, besides the central red light point, there was an additional green dot indicating her own position.
After briefly identifying the distances on the plate, Freya quickly dashed in a specific direction.
Fifteen minutes later.
In this sea of desert, Freya's gaze caught sight of a row of yellowish, crumbling walls in the distance.
It seemed to be the ruins of a village. Apart from the broken walls, there appeared to be no signs of life.
Freya stood at a distance, squinting slightly; the two points in her silver sight were almost overlapping.
"It seems they are hiding here."
At this moment, she had already cast a concealment spell, making it less likely for that guy to discover her quickly.
Looking at the scene of yellow sand mixed with remnants of walls, Freya thought for a moment and revealed a faint smirk.
"Just right to test how much more power the sorcery after Crystallization has compared to Liquefaction."
She took out a finger-thick Test Tube from her waist pouch, filled with Azure half-Transparent Liquid.
Shaking it in her hand, she removed the stopper. As she poured the liquid out, she murmured the incantation in segments.
The moment the liquid left the Test Tube, it evaporated in the air, condensing around her incantation.
Before long, a translucent woman wrapped in Azure Wind Flow and wearing Leather Armor appeared before Freya.
The woman held two short spears in her hands, with strong Wind Energy Particles swirling around them.
Freya looked at the translucent woman standing before her and nodded in satisfaction as she put away the Test Tube.
"First-Level Sorcery, Summon Storm Elemental. Good, go ahead. Let me see your strength!"
She pointed in that direction, and in an instant, the Wind Element transformed into a strand of Azure Wind Flow that flew towards it.
Watching the Storm Elemental move away from her, Freya's narrowed eyes flashed with a hint of Azure light, her mind lost in thought.
In the distance, the howling Wind Element approached the location indicated by Freya, and the Azure Wind Flow began to rapidly expand in the air.
Before long, it reached a height of five meters, resembling a translucent giant of Azure hovering in the sky.
She slowly raised the two short spears in her hands, twisting her waist as she suddenly flicked them.
A sharp sound pierced the air.
The massive Azure spear exploded in midair, transforming into a large whirlwind of Azure that swept towards that direction.
Yellow sand and dust were instantly stirred up, resembling a sandstorm.
The remnants of the standing walls immediately collapsed.
Freya stood quietly watching this scene when suddenly she seemed to sense something. Frowning, she glanced at the silver piece at her waist.
The red mark was slowly moving away from her.
"Hmph, trying to escape underground?"
She lightly snapped her fingers.
In the distance, the Storm Elemental received the command and swiftly threw another short spear.
However, this time she did not unleash it as a whirlwind for a wide-range attack, but instead thrust it directly towards the direction indicated by Freya.
'Thud!!'
The massive spear plunged deep into the sandy ground.
Suddenly, intense energy fluctuations erupted from the previously calm surface.
'Boom!!!'
The ground exploded, and a disheveled figure dressed in a black robe emerged from the blast site.
Severe coughing mixed with curses reached Freya's ears.
Before he could do anything else, two massive short spears shot towards him.
'Swish, swish'
Just as the short spears were about to hit him, the man quickly reached for his wrist.
'Hiss'
A red light flashed from his body, and the two short spears instantly vanished.
Meanwhile, the Storm Elemental, which had already condensed four short spears, was nearly transparent, as if it would disappear at any moment.
"Four times? That's one more than during Liquefaction Level; that's quite impressive."
Looking at the Storm Elemental, Freya waved her hand, allowing it to naturally revert back into Wind Element energy.
She strode towards the wizard who had just finished casting his spell.
The man seemed to sense Freya's approach, a sinister expression appearing on his pale face.
"Damn Milly's lackey! How dare you chase me here! If that's the case, be prepared to pay with your life!"
He shouted loudly and then pulled out a Red Crystal from his chest, hurling it forcefully at Freya.
The crystal spun rapidly in the air, emitting a blazing Red Light.
However, looking at the crystal, a look of disdain appeared in Freya's eyes.
"Is this all you've got?"
She took a step forward and suddenly extended her hand, five Azure Threads shooting directly towards the crystal.
'Swish!'
The seemingly solid crystal instantly developed five thin holes, then slowly began to shatter.
'Boom!'
The crystal exploded in mid-air with a muffled sound, sending up a cloud of yellow sand.
Surprised that his spell was so easily countered, the man's expression froze for a moment before he sensed an unusually dangerous aura gathering behind the yellow sand.
His face changed, and without a second thought, he fled from the spot.
'Swish!'
As he just left, a beam of Azure Flowing Light shot directly into the spot he had occupied, deeply embedding itself in the sandy ground.
Realizing it had missed, the Flowing Light slowly retracted back into the yellow sand.
‘Huh’
Then, a large area of sand that obscured the view was swept away, and Freya walked out from within, her expression emotionless.
At this moment, she held an Azure Cross Sword in her hand, with Azure Wind flowing rapidly around her.
She looked at the Black-Robed Wizard not far from her and spoke calmly.
"You don't seem like a Crystalized Wizard at all. It looks like you've been injured, haven't you?"
There was no response. The man pulled out a handful of black particles and scattered them towards Freya from a distance. After doing this, he chose to leave without even looking back at the outcome.
The black particles emitted a dense buzzing sound.
"Blackstone Bee. However, with this quantity..."
After a pause, Freya raised the energy sword in her hand and then waved it.
"Wind Net!"
A large mass of dense Azure Wind Flow formed into a net and sliced through the swarm of stone bees.
Immediately, a layer of black traces spread across the ground.
Freya stood on the traces, watching the figure running away in the distance.
This person seemed to be pursued relentlessly. Aside from being injured, the magical materials on his body were nearly depleted.
Moreover, judging by his expression just now, he appeared to be on the brink of collapse.
She found it hard to imagine what kind of relentless pursuit a noble Crystalized Wizard must have endured to end up in such a disheveled state.
However, this had little to do with her; her purpose for coming here was to hunt him down.
Gently stomping her foot, a gust of Azure wind enveloped her legs, and in an instant, Freya transformed into a white silhouette and dashed toward him.
Ten minutes later.
With a somewhat pale complexion, Freya stood on the sandy ground, her originally clean white robe now bearing various degrees of scorch marks.
Before her stood the Black-Robed Wizard.
The surrounding sand appeared to have undergone some high temperature, resulting in a Crystallization reaction that reflected transparent light under the sun's rays.
As she eased her depleted mental energy, she glanced at the charred mark on her right thumb, revealing a look of relief.
"Indeed, one should never underestimate any wizard." (To be continued)
