Chapter 237:
The slightly ajar door was pushed open.
A witch dressed in the same robe as her entered, and upon seeing Freya alone, spoke coldly, "Who are you? Don't you know this is the confidential document room of the Rune Department?"
Freya turned around at the question, but just as she was about to respond, she paused slightly.
She noticed that the witch who had entered was quite beautiful, but her head was completely bald, with no hair at all. A tattoo in Azure ink adorned her shiny scalp, resembling a fierce Scorpion crawling on top, looking very menacing and strange.
Sensing Freya's gaze fixed on her head, the witch's expression suddenly turned icy.
Suddenly, Freya felt a sharp tingle at her back. Without thinking much, she immediately leaped forward a step.
'Crack!'
A crisp sound erupted from the spot where she had just stood.
Instinctively turning her head back, she saw a charred black spot suddenly appear on the floor behind her, emitting wisps of blue smoke.
This sudden attack made Freya furrow her brows, and her expression darkened slightly, but she did not lash out.
She stared at the unusually eerie witch.
"I am a newcomer from the Rune Department. Is it true that even personnel from the Rune Department are prohibited from entering here?"
"A newcomer? Is that so! Then let me tell you a few rules of the Rune Department!"
Hearing Freya's response, the witch suddenly sneered and began to murmur some strange incantations.
In a daze, Freya vaguely saw the bizarre scorpion above the witch's head move its tail in response to the murmured spells.
'Bang!'
A crimson light suddenly exploded right in front of Freya.
She was in an invisible Power Field, which was torn apart by this light point. Freya felt a scorching airflow rushing toward her face, suddenly threatening to ruin her appearance.
Her expression darkened, and her right hand swiftly drew the Cross Sword that had been hanging at her waist, decisively slashing out!
'Boom!!'
A sensation akin to striking something solid transmitted through the Blade, and she noticed a fine dent suddenly appear on the previously intact sword blade.
At the same time, a red light point was instantly sent flying, crashing against the wall with a loud thud.
That was suddenly a finger-sized Red Scorpion, now split in half.
As her gaze swept over the severed Red Scorpion, Freya's surroundings began to slowly gather a faint Azure airflow. She fixed her intense stare on the still sneering strange witch and spoke in a chilling tone.
"What do you mean!?"
"What do I mean!? It means I want you to understand what rules are!"
With that, she suddenly flicked her hand towards Freya, and a number of red light spots shot directly at her.
These red dots were actually small Red Scorpions.
Freya was slightly taken aback. She had just learned about their power. What struck her as strange was that this witch was using such a Spell in the data room.
'Doesn't she fear destroying this information, or is she just not thinking straight?'
While pondering the reason, Freya quickly retreated, simultaneously thrusting with her Cross Sword.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
The precision of the Great Knight allowed her to hit each Sword Tip on the red Scorpions, instantly exploding them.
However, under the witch's flick, another wave of these special red Scorpions flew towards her like a fine red rain.
"Damn it!"
Continuously retreating and blocking made Freya feel a surge of anger inside her.
After just a couple of exchanges, they were already trying to ruin her appearance. Such things were rare even back in Elgreen. She never expected to encounter a madwoman here.
After breaking through several red dots, Freya's figure suddenly shrank and then accelerated rapidly.
Two silver-white Tassels extended behind her in Azure's Flowing Light.
At this moment, Freya directly revealed a strong killing intent.
A dense aura of danger enveloped her surroundings.
The emergence of this aura caused the witch, who had been smirking, to stiffen her expression. She quickly pulled out a triangular talisman from her body and pointed it.
"Die!"
Suddenly, she saw a scorching Flame Lance thrusting toward her.
Clang!!!
The heated spear distorted the air around it, as Freya coldly gazed at the Bald Witch behind the Golden Shield.
The Cross Sword transformed into a spear that was slowly trying to break through and pierce.
Watching the tip of the spear extending closer, the Bald Witch murmured another incantation and extended her right hand.
A plume of fiery red smoke surged from her hand, and soon that human arm completely transformed into a red Scorpion Claw, snapping toward Freya's head.
At the same time, Freya extended her empty left hand, where a large ball of condensed black fire was gathering to its peak.
"Enough!!!"
A sudden, fierce shout.
'Bang!!!!'
A visible ripple exploded just as the two were about to clash.
Freya squinted her eyes and was sent flying back, somewhat disheveled.
Between Black Flame and Scorpion Claw stood a wizard with graying hair but a youthful face, who was Fira, the same person Freya had encountered before.
However, compared to the friendly demeanor Freya had seen earlier, Fira now appeared ominously frightening.
He held a palm-sized silver shield that emitted a faint white light, quickly absorbing the chaotic Energy Particles around the two.
His gaze swept over them before finally landing on the Bald Witch.
"Nick Meiler! Have you forgotten what you promised last time? Tell me! What are you doing now!!"
Fira's stern words made the Bald Witch tilt her head and snort coldly.
"Don't think that just because you're silent I can't do anything about you! Now! Immediately go to my office! I need you to provide a proper explanation for this incident! Otherwise—"
Hearing Fira's words, the witch named Nick glanced at Freya not far away before turning and walking toward the door.
After she completely left, Fira's gloomy expression gradually eased.
He turned around and looked up and down at Freya, who was still holding the Cross Sword, and after a long while, he finally spoke.
"Are you hurt?"
Without saying a word, Freya gently shook her head.
If it weren't for Fira's intervention just now, she might not have been able to defeat the Bald Witch. She vaguely sensed a hint of Rand's characteristics in the ability that transformed directly into Scorpion Claw.
Perhaps this witch was also a sorceress with another Bloodline.
Seeing Freya shake her head, Fira closed her eyes and gently pressed her fingers against her forehead, then opened her eyes.
"Alright, let me formally introduce myself. I am currently the head of the Rune Department, a disciple under Lord Meilong, Filarbalon." (To be continued...)
