Chapter Two Hundred Thirty-Two:
Ten minutes after that group entered.
Another wizard dressed in the same white robe with red edges walked in.
"Those here for Enchantment and Runes, please follow me."
Hearing the wizard's words, Freya stood up and quietly said to Kyle beside her, "It's my turn."
"Yeah, go ahead. Good luck, and don't be nervous," Kyle replied with a smile.
Without saying anything further, Freya nodded and took a confident step toward the Crimson Eagle wizard.
As she moved forward, three other wizards also stood up.
Soon, the four of them, including Freya, followed the wizard into a spacious corridor.
As they passed by a room's doorway, he stopped and said, "This is the Enchantment Department. Those selected may stay; the rest continue with me."
The last two people remained behind and directly pushed open the door to enter the room.
Freya glanced through the gap and saw that it appeared to be a large hall. In the center sat an elderly man in a Red Robe, reading a book.
The sunlight outside the window spilled onto him, creating a golden glow.
It seemed that the old man sensed Freya's gaze, as he slightly furrowed his brows.
Suddenly, Freya felt a sharp pain in her eyes, as if something had pricked her.
"Ugh."
She instinctively covered her eyes.
This sudden movement caused the guiding wizard to pause for a moment and ask, "What's wrong? Are you feeling unwell?"
The pain was fleeting, and Freya rubbed her eyes slightly. She waved her hand dismissively and said, "No, it's nothing. Let's continue."
Seeing that Freya was fine, the wizard did not press further.
However, Freya was inwardly alarmed; she couldn't understand how the old man had managed to bypass the defensive Force Field that had been surrounding her and directly attack her eyes.
Fortunately, it seemed that the old man was merely warning her and did not intend to do anything substantial.
Still, despite this, Freya felt that her vision was somewhat blurry, as if her eyesight had temporarily diminished.
'With such a level of attack, even if that old man is not a Crystalized Wizard, he is likely no lower than Crystallization Level,' Freya analyzed in her mind.
However, her peeking was inherently an impolite act. She had no complaints about receiving such a warning.
Even so, the image of that old man remained etched in her mind. It is important to note that not all White Wizards are benevolent; some individual White Wizards might be even more terrifying in their actions than Dark Wizards. After all, no one wishes to lose their life over a mere glance.
The remaining three walked down the long corridor. In the tranquil space, only the sound of footsteps echoed.
After passing a fork in the path, the leading wizard finally stopped. He pointed to a large door not far away.
"This is the assessment location for the Rune Department. Once you enter, someone will inform you of the assessment details. Do not engage in unnecessary actions; if cheating is discovered, your names will appear on the Crimson Eagle's blacklist, and you will not be allowed to enter here again for at least five years. Do you understand?"
"Yes."
"Understood."
The two nodded in acknowledgment.
Seeing their response, the wizard said no more and turned to leave.
Freya glanced at the Young Wizard who had chosen the same department as her. Previously, she had only exchanged a few words with Kyle and had not spoken to this person at all.
At this moment, he seemed to possess a taciturn personality, merely standing there in a daze at her side.
Noticing that he had no intention of opening the door, Freya paused for a moment and took the initiative to push it open.
With a creak, the door was easily pushed open as it was not locked, and the two entered one after another.
This room seems to be a Public Laboratory.
In the spacious room, there are three large Experiment Tables, each covered with various Rune Arrays that emit a faint glow, clearly indicating they are in the process of activation.
At the back of the room, there are two iron experimental cabinets. The cabinets are not large, and Freya can see the contents clearly from her position; it is a standard set of Runic Engraving Tools.
This laboratory must have previously been a place for Rune Engraving or research.
Not long after the two stood in the middle of the room, a side door next to the laboratory opened, and an elderly woman holding some documents walked in slowly while looking down.
The old woman was dressed in a Dark Red Robe. Even without any movement, Freya could distinctly feel the high concentration of Energy Particles around her, and an unusually dry aura wafted through the air, seemingly a passive mode of her Power Field.
Sensing the formidable presence of this old woman, Freya's eyes flickered.
'Another Crystallization Level.'
Since arriving at Crimson Eagle, she had already encountered two Crystallization Level wizards, which indicated that Crimson Eagle had a strong foundation.
Even though her combat awareness was not very sharp due to the peaceful environment, the difference in levels alone could easily suppress Freya.
After all, regardless of how strong Freya's combat skills or awareness were, she was ultimately just a wizard who hadn't even reached Vaporization. Dealing with some inexperienced Liquid-Level White Wizards was already her maximum limit.
The old woman seemed indifferent to their presence and continued to look at the documents in her hands.
After about five minutes, she slowly put them away, raised her head to glance at the two, and said calmly.
“At this time, there should be no one else coming. I am Deputy Minister Melong Lawrence from the Rune Department. Since you are here, you must have decent knowledge of Runology. I will briefly outline this year's assessment project: within one hour, inscribe any energy attack type Rune Array. If you succeed in inscribing it, you will pass the assessment and can sign a Contract with our department. If you fail, you will be asked to leave. Do you understand?”
“Understand.”
Freya and the other person nodded simultaneously.
“Hmm.” Satisfied with their actions, Meilong, the Rune Department Deputy Director, pointed to the partition in the laboratory.
“In an hour, regardless of whether you finish or not, you must come out. Alright, go in.”
She arranged for a partitioned assessment, likely fearing that being outside would hinder their performance.
Freya bowed to her and then walked directly to a partition, opening it and stepping inside.
The Experiment Table inside was much larger than the three outside, but it was well-equipped with various rune-related tools, making it suitable for almost any task that did not involve advanced Rune Arrays or Rune Towers.
Casually opening the box beneath the Experiment Table, Freya took out her favorite Number Three Engraving Knife and a piece of special Demonized Parchment. (To be continued...)
