A row of Azure runes slowly lit up on her body.
"Chal'tebes Lindra Wind!"
As the whispered incantation broke into phrases, a surge of Azure Wind gradually enveloped the intense aura.
In an instant, Freya shot forward at an astonishing speed.
An invisible Power Field immediately shredded any creatures in her path into fragments and tossed them behind her.
The wind roared as a large amount of green vegetation rapidly retreated, and Freya's figure appeared elongated as she sprinted.
As she neared the target point, she coldly raised her Cross Sword and lightly swept it.
The originally crimson cross instantly glowed with Azure light, and an extremely dangerous aura spread from her.
"Final Chapter - Blood Bird!"
With the murmuring of the Cross Sword, flames erupted all over Freya's body, igniting in a Crimson Flame.
The fire quickly soared, gradually transforming into a massive Firebird composed of sharp currents, flapping its enormous wings as it flew toward a giant tree.
Wherever the Firebird passed, any object was reduced to fragments, sliced apart by the surging currents!
Boom!!!
As the Black Bird came to a stop, another Black Bird flew over. Then another one.
Before long, the entire carriage was filled with these strange Black Birds, all covered in pitch-black feathers, densely packed together, staring at the tent, quiet and eerie.
In the slowly rising White Mist, this group of Black Birds resembled a lurking, terrifying black monster.
In this bizarre atmosphere, a low murmuring suddenly emerged from the flock of birds.
‘Caw’
The sound resembled a baby's cry. It also sounded like a wild cat in heat, undeniably harsh and grating.
The piercing noise caused Freya inside the tent to suddenly open her eyes wide.
But when she looked through the translucent window of the tent and saw the rising White Mist outside, she was momentarily taken aback.
The alert Spell she had set up relied on plant senses; such an abnormal atmosphere should have been reflected back to her. However, the surrounding plants showed no reaction at all.
She furrowed her brow and sensed the connected Spiritual Message but found it inexplicably blocked.
“What’s going on!”
A faint sense of oppression suddenly rose from her heart.
Grabbing the Cross Sword that was placed by her bedside, Freya cautiously pulled open the tent.
Feeling the information relayed by the plants, she turned and walked over to the bed, taking out some food from her belongings and starting to eat.
The power of wizards has actually permeated the leadership of various countries in this world, but due to the radiation-like pollution of Spell, ordinary nations and their people cannot enjoy the conveniences brought by Spell.
Thus, the existence of wizards is mysterious and invisible to most people. In some remote areas, wizards are only known through legends, treated as mythical beings.
As a wizard, Freya has already distinguished herself from ordinary people due to this difference in life level.
However, even so, she is still human. She has her own family and relatives and does not view ordinary people merely as the foundation for wizards. Essentially, this is also what sets Freya apart from most wizards who disregard life.
Of course, if her interests are infringed upon or in other matters, that would be a different story.
The tent's good soundproofing allowed Freya to hear only faint sounds from outside.
After a simple dinner, it was time for her routine meditation.
Although the apprentice-level Meditation Method no longer provided any increase in her mental strength, she still maintained this habit of keeping her mind active in place of sleep.
As she entered deep meditation, Freya's breathing gradually became steady.
Time passed second by second; the rain that had been falling stopped at some point, with only the water accumulated on the leaves dripping onto the black ground, producing a crisp sound.
At this moment, outside Freya's tent, a thick White Mist was quietly rising.
A black bird flapped its wings and silently landed on top of the carriage.
Staring blankly at the quiet tent.
The surroundings were still pitch black, only made hazy by the rising White Mist. The cool, damp air after the rain jolted her senses.
Freya squinted as she looked around, but the White Mist was so thick that she could barely see the nearby carriage; only a dark outline hinted at its shape.
She gently sniffed the White Mist and caught a faint scent of decay, reminiscent of a long-buried corpse.
Suddenly, her gaze shifted from the carriage to a dark shadow within the White Mist.
"Who is it! Come out!" Her tone was unusually cold.
A fiery sensation ignited along the Cross Sword.
Just as Freya was about to probe further, a strong wave of corrosive energy mixed with intense wind pressure surged toward her with a loud whoosh!
The surrounding White Mist seemed to be sliced apart by a Sharp Blade.
"Hmph! Trying to scare me!"
As she watched the terrifying claws approach, Freya's eyes narrowed. The Cross Sword in her hand suddenly vanished, and a slender red streak shot forward into the air.
'Thud!'
At that moment, Freya's Cross Sword pierced through the dreadful claw like a fiery red spear. Black blood flowed down the blade but was quickly evaporated by the intense heat above.
"Ga!!!"
The intense pain caused the creature behind White Mist to emit a terrible, mournful cry. The Claws that had pierced it instantly attempted to retract.
However, just as it was pulling back its claws, Freya darkened her expression and slammed her hand onto the ground.
A fist-sized green rune flashed briefly from her palm.
An invisible wave of energy spread out from her center.
In an instant, with a crunching sound that made one’s teeth ache, two thick brown vines burst forth from the ground, rapidly curling toward the direction of the carriage.
The dense White Mist was stirred up and began to churn violently.
The two vines coiled around the creature like giant pythons, tightening their grip under Freya's control.
Before long, a pool of dark brown blood slowly dripped down.
Freya stood in place, sensing the life ebbing away within it, and muttered disdainfully, "Is this all there is? How dare you attack an Official Wizard, poor thing!"
Through the two vines, she vaguely guessed what had attacked her; it was a special type of creature that lay between ordinary beings and Demonized Creatures.
It possessed a certain amount of energy but was much weaker than a Demonized Creature, and due to the erosion of energy, it had lost its primal instincts at its deepest level.
However, even though she had already guessed what it was, Freya remained vigilant.
It was certainly not something that a creature without intelligence could achieve, to block the aura she used for warning.
She shook the Cross Sword, flicking off the dirt from it.
With a snap of her fingers, Freya gently sent a wisp of purple flame floating towards the direction of the carriage.
As it reached above the carriage, she suddenly opened her palm.
The small flame, originally the size of a fingernail, instantly expanded.
The massive Purple Flame spread out and pressed down towards the carriage.
Immediately, the unpleasant scent of burning flesh filled the air.
With the intense light of the fire, Freya also got a clearer view of the creature's general appearance.
It resembled a mass of flesh, with numerous black feathers mixed in. Some white bones and muscles were exposed, twisting mindlessly as they burned in the ash-like flames.
Freya looked at this terrifying creature and narrowed her eyes slightly.
"Is it a Synthetic Creature?"
Originally thought to be just a half-Demonized Creature, Freya found herself confused by what she encountered.
This thing, which was already dead, emanated a strong stench of decay, with wisps of Undead Negative Energy swirling around it.
"Could it be an experimental subject that escaped from the academy?"
As she speculated about the origin of this creature, she walked towards the carriage.
Thanks to her precise control, the carriage was unharmed, aside from the creature.
Freya glanced at the Black Stallion in front of the carriage and noticed it lying on the ground for some unknown reason, but its life force was still present; it seemed to have fainted.
This relieved her somewhat. If the horse died in this forest, it would pose a problem for her.
However, just as Freya was about to clear away the remains of the creature, a sudden wave of putrid energy surged from behind her.
This attack was swifter and more powerful than the last one. With Freya's attention focused on the remains, she momentarily failed to react.
Just as that thing was about to stab her in the back, a fierce Azure Gale suddenly appeared.
The invisible Azure Sharp Blade sliced through the creature, reducing it to countless fragments that scattered everywhere.
A layer of translucent Azure air was emerging around Freya.
"Is there more!?"
Feeling the presence behind her, Freya slowly turned her head, her expression dark as she looked at the ground covered in flesh.
In her right eye's pupil, an Azure rune flickered faintly.
If it weren't for the automatic counterattack of the Empowerment Spell, this blow would likely not kill Freya, but she would certainly be injured.
Her gaze swept coldly around, and within the originally hazy and dense White Mist, a large faint shadow suddenly appeared.
A strong stench of decay filled the air.
From here, Freya realized that this was no accident. Someone was deliberately targeting her!
These shadows were piled on top of each other, yet their exact number was unclear.
Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!
Sudden sounds of slicing through the air came from all directions as dark shadows shot directly toward Freya's head.
As they approached, Freya could see that these shadows were bizarre limbs formed from countless pieces of flesh.
Her expression darkened slightly as she swung her Crimson Cross Sword fiercely.
The sensation of cutting through objects was distinctly felt.
In an instant, all the attacking limbs were shattered by her strikes, yet more entities continued to thrust toward her.
"If it weren't for my inability to use large-scale destructive spells..."
Freya blocked the incoming attacks while quickly scanning her surroundings.
These entities clearly had a purpose, indicating they were being controlled by someone.
Moreover, it seemed that this person intended to use these minions to wear down her stamina and mental strength.
As she swiftly sliced through a dark tentacle, Freya quickly pulled out a black seed from her waist with her unarmed left hand and quietly scattered it on the ground.
The moment these black seeds touched the surface, they immediately burrowed into the ground.
While sensing the information from the Reconnaissance Seed, Freya pondered over who might be targeting her.
Though these creatures were weak against her, it felt like they would never cease their attacks.
Freya even had a sense that the one controlling these Synthetic Creatures knew a great deal about her, having conducted detailed investigations.
However, despite her thoughts, she still couldn't arrive at any answers.
During her time at the academy, Freya had always been the type to remain low-key and inconspicuous; the only notable incident was related to Rand, and she was overlooked by the higher-ups due to Aishebun's defection.
"Who could it be?"
Although there was a deep question in her heart, the continuous attacks ignited a surge of anger within Freya, who had always been calm.
The fact that she was being attacked under these circumstances, shortly after her promotion to Wizard and while her strength had not fully recovered, clearly indicated an intent to kill her!
This murderous determination made Freya's gaze grow increasingly cold.
Five minutes later.
In the ongoing battle, Freya smashed a creature that was indistinguishable as either a bird or a beast into pieces with a loud bang, then retreated to the base of a large tree.
The chaotic ground was littered with coagulated blood and flesh, and a strong stench mixed with the dense energy of the Necromancy Department wafted through the air.
Just as Freya dodged a creature pouncing down from the treetop, a clear message reached her mind.
This momentarily stunned her, but then she revealed a fierce killing intent.
"At last, I've found you!!!"
Countless bloodstains, despite the barrier of the Empowerment Spell, inevitably splattered onto her.
At this point, some dark spots had already splashed onto her white robe, and the feeling of her boots sticking to the ground was utterly disgusting.
Now, having suddenly received this information, Freya, who had been deliberately conserving her strength, erupted with a powerful stream of white energy.
Cross Sword transformed into a bird's beak, piercing through the giant tree.
Amidst the countless flames, a black-robed figure with a face full of shock suddenly emerged from the shadows. In front of him was a layer of twisted black Force Field. Although it blocked most of Freya's sharp airflow, he still suffered some damage.
"How is this possible!" After the shock came a fierce expression.
Looking at Freya who was within arm's reach, the black-robed man quickly took out a black eyeball and threw it directly at her.
The eyeball enlarged in mid-air, and below it suddenly opened a grotesque Big Mouth, filled with dense, terrifying Fangs that lunged at Freya.
"Soul Devouring Technique!"Freya's expression turned serious as she reached out, summoning Azure Wind to strike at the Wide-eyed creature.
At the same time, Freya leaned her body to the side, forcefully dodging the bite.
A foul smell passed by her side.
This type of Necromancy Spell could not be touched directly; it could only be countered with a Spell or avoided. Otherwise, once contaminated, one would slowly be assimilated. Even if not bitten to death, they would become an undead creature. (To be continued)
