"Maybe I'm overthinking it. After all, I arrived here three months ago," Rand waved his hand and then turned to the others. "Alright, Flame Scorpions live in burrows. You all know about this type of Demonized Creature, right? Now I'll distribute the scorpion grass to everyone. Just sweep around in burrows that are about a meter in diameter. If you hear any sounds, immediately restrain it and inform the others. We'll come over right away, understood?" 0

"Yes," everyone nodded. 0

Flame Scorpions, being low-level Demonized Creatures, can still pose a considerable threat when assisted by Crimson Snow Bats. Any attack against them will be nullified unless the Force Field of the Crimson Snow Bat is broken. Given their current strength, it's impossible for anyone to handle a Flame Scorpion alone, so they need to use others to wear down the Crimson Snow Bat before they can subdue it. 0

Seeing that everyone understood, Rand turned his gaze to Freya. 0

"Freya, you don't have any long-range spells, so if you spot a Flame Scorpion, just notify us without attacking, alright?" 0

"Got it," Freya replied with a smile, indicating her understanding. 0

Her greatest advantage lies in close combat, but due to the special attack characteristics of the Flame Scorpion, engaging it in melee would be riskier than attacking from a distance. 0

Of course, Freya knew that if she unleashed her full power, she could break through the Force Field of the Crimson Snow Bat. However, since Rand said this, she decided to go along with it. After all, in everyone's eyes, although she had good skills, she was still just a low-level Second-Class Apprentice. (To be continued) 0

Outside, the darkness still enveloped the surroundings, with no sign of the White Mist, only a large bright moon hanging above, casting a silvery light onto the ground through the window. 0

The night wind blew outside the wooden cabin, rustling the trees with a gentle sound. 0

Just as Freya was frowning in thought about the connections between events, Lani, who was sleeping beside her, suddenly began to breathe rapidly. She jolted upright from the ground, her eyes filled with intense fear and her pupils dilating and constricting. 0

Freya, still shaken from the Lena incident, was startled by Lani's sudden reaction. 0

"What’s wrong?" Freya asked, her brow furrowing slightly as she observed Lani's unusual expression. 0

At the sound of Freya's voice, Lani's body trembled violently, and she quickly regained her composure. She reached up to rub her temples and then turned to Freya, saying calmly, "It's nothing. I just had a nightmare." 0

"Oh." Freya nodded expressionlessly. 0

The two fell silent again. Freya lay back down under the blanket, closing her eyes and pretending to sleep. 0

The soft texture of the thick blanket gave her an unusually real sensation. When she glanced at Lani earlier, she noticed a lingering hint of fear in her expression. Moreover, Freya could distinctly sense a faint aura of Negative Energy emanating from Lani. 0

This peculiar aura was something Freya often felt in the Necromancy Department's laboratory. 0

She wondered if Lani had also experienced the disturbing images that she had seen earlier. 0

'What does this mean?' 0

With her eyes closed, Freya's mind was a tangled mess, and sleep eluded her. Instead, she decided to meditate again in place of sleep. 0

As time slowly passed, the moon disappeared from the night sky, and a ray of morning light appeared on the distant horizon. Some early birds chirped cheerfully among the trees. 0

"Ugh..." 0

Rand stirred, rubbed his eyes, and sat up from the blanket. 0

As he rose, the sound roused the others from their sleepy state. 0

Freya, who hadn’t slept all night, stood up, shook her body a bit, and patted her face to wake herself up. 0

With her strength close to that of a Great Knight, even three sleepless nights wouldn't affect her much. At most, she would just feel less refreshed than after a good sleep. 0

Five minutes later, everyone had shaken off their drowsiness. 0

Rand suddenly looked at Lani, raising an eyebrow. 0

"Did you not sleep last night?" 0

"What?" Lani, who was packing her things, tilted her head in confusion at Rand. "How do you know?" 0

"Just look at your face." 0

Listening to Rand, everyone turned to Lani. They noticed two large dark circles under her eyes on her usually calm face, which were particularly prominent against her fair skin. 0

"Uh..." Lani took out a mirror and saw her haggard appearance, causing her expression to fall immediately. 0

As for why Lani looked this way, the others didn’t ask. Freya, however, kept an eye on Aishebun and Lena. 0

She found that they were still as they usually were—stuck together in a clingy manner, acting indifferent to everyone else. 0

This made Freya frown slightly. 0

If they had behaved like this from the beginning, Freya wouldn’t have paid much attention. However, after last night’s strange incident, she felt increasingly that these two were somewhat unusual. 0

Carrying this deep sense of doubt, the group set off towards Abyssal Lake after a simple breakfast, following their original plan. 0

The journey was uneventful. 0

Half an hour later, as the density of the forest gradually decreased, some strange brown rocks appeared in sight. 0

In the crevices of some rocks, wisps of white gas could be faintly seen rising from within. 0

The smell of sulfur grew stronger here. 0

Freya, who was at the front acting as a scout, picked up a piece of brown rock from the ground and stroked its rough surface. A hint of heat radiated from the rock, and with a gentle squeeze, it crumbled into a pile of particles that scattered down. 0

"It feels like it's about twenty degrees. Also, the density of the rocks here is quite loose." 0

She looked up towards the distance, where among the irregular brown rocks lay a large lake shaped somewhat like an irregular crescent moon. 0

The water in the lake was very clear; even from a distance, Freya could see the bottom of the lake at a glance, with white steam rising from the water's surface. 0

"Is this Abyssal Lake?" Freya wondered as she gazed at the clear water, clearly sensing that there were more concentrated Fire Element particles within it, dancing vigorously. 0

She glanced around the environment surrounding Abyssal Lake—there were no plants, only countless brown rocks. 0

The entire area around Abyssal Lake was eerily quiet; aside from the faint hissing sound made by steam escaping from the rocks, there was hardly any other noise. 0

"This place is indeed the most common environment for Flame Scorpions to appear, but... isn't it a bit too quiet here?" 0

Freya frowned slightly and began to wander around the lake uncertainly. 0

But aside from these special rocks, she surprisingly found quite a few flat pits on the ground. 0

These pits varied in size and depth, seemingly formed by the terrain. 0

This was her first time here, so she had no idea if it had always been like this. 0

After not discovering any other issues besides the pits, Freya walked over to a large rock by Abyssal Lake and sat down, feeling puzzled. 0

The magic patterns on her Leather Armor easily insulated her from the heat radiating from the rock, so she felt comfortable. 0

While quietly waiting for others to arrive, she rummaged through her waist pouch to carefully check the items inside for any emergencies. 0

Although this simple private Magical Pet looked straightforward, after the strange incident last night, Freya always felt that things wouldn't be that simple. 0

Regarding her research on Spirit, she wasn't a professional from the Necromancy Department, so aside from the verbal information Lena gave her at the end, she had no other leads. 0

However, this did not hinder her from maintaining a high level of vigilance about this mission, especially with Lani waking up from her sleep and being infused with Negative Energy from the undead. 0

All signs vaguely indicated something strange about Lena and Aishebun. 0

Therefore, to prepare for any unexpected events, she could only take precautions. 0

Five minutes later, a few people followed behind. 0

Rand, at the front, lightly nodded to Freya in greeting before scanning the surroundings. When he saw the rocks around him, his brow furrowed slightly. 0

"Has the terrain changed here? It looks different from when I came before." 0

"Really?" Nikola said as he crushed a rock by his feet and looked around curiously. "I think it looks pretty much the same as before; aside from the lake and rocks, there’s not much difference." 0
