"I have completely mastered the Basic Knowledge of the Enchantment Department, and I can independently create some simple Cursed Items. However, this requires corresponding structural design diagrams, which are more expensive than some rare potions... As it stands, making money from Cursed Items has hit a dead end for the time being... But if I could obtain some Cursed Items and analyze their Spell Models and basic structures... Right!"
Suddenly recalling something, Freya stood up from the magic circle and touched the Ice Blue Earrings she wore on one side.
These Earrings, considered a fine item even in Hegel's eyes, could be valuable if...
However, after thinking for a moment, she ultimately put her hand down.
Although she had already grasped various knowledge of Enchantment, fully analyzing the production method of a Cursed Item would require disassembling it and then reassembling it, involving many elements. In this regard, Freya had no experience at all.
If it were just an ordinary Cursed Item, it would be fine, but for these Ice Blue Earrings, she still lacked confidence in analyzing them without causing damage.
Moreover, she had always kept these Earrings as her last trump card; even Kaidy and Lilian did not know she possessed them.
"Besides hunting missions for quick money, what other methods are there..."
While pondering other methods and quietly getting dressed, Freya suddenly felt a warmth from the Communication Ring on her index finger. Then a somewhat familiar voice came from the ring.
"Freya, this is Rand. I have a private mission with a generous reward. If you're interested, you can contact me directly."
Freya knew this was a message similar to a voicemail and not a direct call. She felt curious about Rand's message.
Last time during the Carrion Beast mission, all four of them exchanged Communication Ring marks. She thought they would cease contact after completing the mission, but unexpectedly Rand reached out to her.
"A generous reward..." Looking at the gradually calming Communication Ring in her hand, Freya raised an eyebrow slightly. She clearly remembered that after finishing that mission, Rand had given her a Magic Stone along with his words.
"If it's really as he said..."
After thinking for a moment, she brought the Communication Ring close to her mouth and linked her mental energy to Rand's messaging mark, speaking respectfully.
"Senior Rand, may I ask what kind of mission it is?"
Soon, there was a response from the other side of the Communication Ring.
"It’s a simple Magic Pet Mission that a family friend of mine has privately posted. We already have six people, but we still need one more scout. Freya, would you be interested in joining us? If you come, we can offer some rewards upfront," Rand said in a gentle tone, though Freya felt there was something a bit insincere about it.
However, regardless of Rand's tone, Freya was indeed drawn to the content of the message.
Generally speaking, private missions bypass the taxes on the Mission Board and offer much better rewards than those in the Mission Area.
As for Rand's family friend, from what Freya understood, Rand's family is one of the strongest among the major Elk Wizard Families at the Aelgreen Wizard Academy, specifically the Benifin Family. The current family head is also one of the elders at the academy, so their background is quite substantial.
Still, even with that in mind, Freya cautiously asked Rand.
"Rand, could you tell me what this Magic Pet Mission involves? If it’s too dangerous, I’m afraid..."
"You don’t need to worry about that. The Magical Pet is a Crimson Snow Bat. Aside from being cautious of its accompanying creatures, there isn’t much danger involved. This is basically free money; I believe you wouldn’t want to miss out on it," he reassured her.
"Crimson Snow Bat?" Upon hearing this creature's name, Freya frowned slightly.
She had read about this creature in a miscellaneous book; it is a low-level Demonized Creature that prefers to live in groups. It resembles an ordinary bat but has snow-white fur. Its ability is limited to emitting a sound wave Force Field to block dangers, placing its threat level among the lowest of all Demonized Creatures.
However, while this creature lacks offensive capabilities, it tends to coexist with another creature called the Flame Scorpion. The Flame Scorpion, also a low-level Demonized Creature, possesses the ability to shoot a highly heated flame breath from its tail, equivalent in power to a Zero-Level Spell cast by a Third-Rank Apprentice. Its speed is slightly slower due to its size, making it not too difficult to deal with.
But when two low-level Demonized Creatures, both easy to handle individually, come together, things can become problematic.
Under the protection of the Crimson Snow Bat’s Force Field, the slower-moving Flame Scorpion can attack any visible creatures freely, significantly increasing its danger level.
Nevertheless, given Rand's background, such missions would certainly have protective measures in place. Even if there were some risks involved, it likely wouldn’t threaten anyone’s life.
Moreover, regarding the Crimson Snow Bat, although it has certain special abilities, most Apprentice Wizards wouldn’t consider capturing it as a Magical Pet. One reason is due to the presence of the Flame Scorpion, and another is that using such a creature as a potential pet for training purposes is simply too low-value since it is a low-level Demonized Creature.
If Rand's friend wanted to capture such a creature, from what Freya imagined, it was probably either to win over a girl or keep it as an ordinary pet. After all, just based on appearance alone, the cute and charming Crimson Snow Bat is quite appealing.
After considering all this, Freya directly responded to Rand.
"Of course I won't miss it. By the way, Senior Rand, do you know where we are meeting and when we will set off?"
"Three days later, we will gather at the west gate of the academy. We might need to stay outside for a couple of days, so just prepare your things and don't worry about anything else," Rand advised carefully.
"Okay, I understand. Thank you, Senior."
"Hehe, no need to thank me. Just treat me to a meal when we earn some Magic Stone. I still need to notify a few others, so that's it for now."
Feeling the mental connection break, Freya gently turned the ring on her finger.
Listening to Rand's tone, it was clear that he sought Freya not only because he recognized her strength but also with the intention of bringing her into his circle.
Otherwise, he wouldn't have considered someone like her, a Second-Class Apprentice, for such a lucrative task.
However, regardless of Rand's intentions, this mission was quite beneficial for her currently dire financial situation.
"Places where Crimson Snow Bats, a type of low-level magical creature, are found are mostly rich in geothermal activity. I should prepare some essential items." (To be continued)
