In a place unseen by Freya, a massive column of water crashed toward the Giant Ship. However, as it approached the ship, an unknown force seemed to diminish its impact. When the water column finally reached the Giant Ship, it only caused a violent shaking without inflicting significant damage.
But this sudden turn of events seemed to mobilize everyone on board.
Standing by the window, Freya could hear the continuous sound of footsteps and shouts coming from outside the door.
The few Sea Tribe members outside clearly exuded strong malice.
Freya was uncertain whether the Giant Ship would sink as a result; after all, she did not know much about the ship's structure. If that were to happen... staying in her room would surely mean being trapped.
After thinking for a moment, she picked up the Cross Sword and Meditation Manual beside her and opened the door with a conflicted expression.
In her previous life, the sea represented mystery and power. Even technologically advanced humans had not fully explored the ocean, let alone this world.
Outside the door, many burly men in black robes were rushing about. Some room doors were slightly ajar, revealing passengers peering out.
Freya frowned slightly at the unusual atmosphere. Just as she was about to leave her room, one of the black-robed men suddenly shouted loudly toward a short distance away.
"Sir! Please return to your room immediately. This is just an ordinary pirate raid; the Elk Family will ensure your safety. Please go back at once!"
Freya turned her gaze in that direction and saw a young man wearing an ornate outfit with a brooch on his chest. Perhaps unable to bear the pressure of the ship sinking, he was running out of his room with his luggage.
"What Elk Family? Why should I listen to you? Do you know who I am? I am the eldest son of Duke Landan! If anything happens to me..."
The young man, despite his noble status, looked terrified as he ran and shouted.
It seemed that his influence caused other unaware passengers in their rooms to become restless as well, which made the black-robed man's expression darken.
"Sir, if you do not heed my warning, I have the authority to use force to maintain order on this ship!"
"I don't care about you..."
Before the young man could finish his sentence, he saw that the black-robed man was running toward him at an incredible speed.
Freya watched the movements of the man in the black robe, her expression slightly tightening. She felt an inexplicable force swirling around him, different from the explosive aura of a knight; it was a powerful and mysterious energy.
'Bang!'
A faint sound echoed in the corridor as the man in the black robe somehow knocked the boy unconscious. Then, as if he were handling a dead dog, he casually tossed the boy into the room he had just exited.
“Ladies and gentlemen, this is merely an accident. We will handle it promptly. I swear in the name of the Elk Family, please return to your rooms and refrain from making any unnecessary movements,” the man in the black robe announced loudly while scanning the surroundings.
“Hmph, the reputation of the Elk Family and their strong Yamato influence is not something mere mortal nobles can comprehend. They are renowned both at sea and on land. I hope this time we will not be disappointed,” a middle-aged woman peered out from her room, disdainfully glancing at the boy who had been thrown into the room before slightly bowing to the man in black.
“Thank you for your praise, madam. We will ensure that,” replied the man in black.
His display of force immediately caused other onlooking passengers to shut their doors.
Freya also sensed that the man in black was not smiling; he simply assessed the situation before closing his door and locking it from within.
This farcical incident seemed to have no significant impact, but Freya frowned slightly as she returned to her room.
Faced with threats from the sea, she felt powerless and could only wait quietly.
However, she was mildly curious about the mysterious power displayed by that man in black.
Although she couldn't tell if he had used his full strength, based on his speed alone, he was still inferior to her—at best, he was slightly above average among knights.
What puzzled her was how he knocked out that boy; from her perspective, she clearly saw that there was some distance between them, yet it seemed as if he struck him down out of thin air.
“What a strange power.”
Just as Freya pondered over these matters, another flash of lightning illuminated the sky outside her window, followed by an unusual rumbling sound.
‘Buzz—’
It felt as if a swarm of bees was buzzing around her ears, and the strange rumbling sound left Freya no time to react. She could only cover her ears to shield herself from the sound waves.
In a daze, she sensed a slight vibration in the room, accompanied by a faint smell reminiscent of something burning entering her nostrils, but before she could figure out what was happening.
At the bow of the Giant Ship, a beam of crimson light sliced through the air like a sword, roaring towards the direction of the Sea Tribe.
'Sizzle...'
It sounded like a hot iron being plunged into cold water.
Freya covered her ears and strained to lift her head to look out the window, where something bizarre was quietly unfolding.
"What... what kind of joke is this?"
The sea, once ravaged by storms, now seemed to boil as large fish flipped onto their backs, floating up from the depths to the Calm Sea Surface.
The beam flashed and vanished, leaving behind a lingering red glow in the air that slowly faded away. In the place where the Sea People had been, there was nothing but a deep whirlpool rapidly spinning, with surrounding waters frantically rushing in to fill the void.
Freya stared wide-eyed at the shocking scene outside, not even noticing that the buzzing had ceased.
"This... this can’t be considered an era of cold weapons anymore..."
Such immense power on this scale would have been difficult to achieve even in her past life...
"Could this be the power of a wizard? It's terrifying."
She incredulously touched the window; the cold sensation reminded her that this was not an illusion and gradually revealed a glimpse of this world.
It seemed as if the storm outside had been torn apart by this force; the empty rain clouds gradually dissipated, and the sun returned.
This incident felt like a farcical spectacle of thunder and rain that ended in an instant.
With the occurrence of this event, the passengers on the ship, who were originally strangers to each other, began to share a sense of camaraderie in their shared predicament, gradually becoming more familiar with one another.
In this atmosphere, Freya gleaned some insights about the ship from snippets of conversation among the passengers.
The ship she was currently on belonged to a group called the Elk Wizard Family and was named 'Bosek,' which means "Ship of Breaking the Sea."
In addition to serving as a Passenger Ship, it was also a decommissioned armed vessel.
This ship was one of the largest strategic resources even within the wizarding community. The Sea Tribe pirates were unfortunate to encounter it; had it been an ordinary Passenger Ship, they would likely have been devoured without hesitation.
Historically, the relationship between the Sea Tribe and humans has always been quite complex.
Moreover, within the vast ocean, the Sea Tribe is not a monolithic entity; they are divided into various factions and nations, much like humans.
Some factions are friendly towards humans, while others are antagonistic.
However, most of the Sea Tribe have peace treaties with human wizards, refraining from provoking each other. Yet, some Sea Tribe members do not adhere to such treaties and instead make a living by hunting humans at sea, akin to pirates.
These Sea Tribe factions typically possess considerable power and strength. However, no matter how strong they are, there are still entities they cannot provoke, and the Elk family of wizards is one such entity.
