The two guards exchanged a glance, both recognizing the lingering fear in each other's eyes.
In the room, Freya waited quietly.
In an office-like space, Murphy sat in a High-Back Chair, frowning as he looked at the confidential report in his hands, his right fingers occasionally tapping on the desk in front of him.
With a 'click', the door opened, and a person dressed in Black Leather Armor with a cold expression walked in, holding a black tube which he handed to Murphy.
"My lord, this is the latest update on the Sea Tribe Eagle Faction. Please take a look!"
Murphy took the tube, removed the seal on top, and lightly tapped it, causing a curled white paper to fall out.
He picked it up and opened it.
As he read carefully, astonishment appeared in his eyes.
"The Sea Tribe has actually withdrawn from Kent Island? What is going on? Have they given up their jurisdiction over the straits around Daqier City?"
The information was so shocking that he unconsciously voiced his thoughts.
After a long moment, he read through the information several times again before looking up to question the person in Black Leather Armor.
"Is this news accurate?"
"This information comes from the fishing team under Lord Pei Lie. There is a ninety percent chance of its authenticity!" the man replied earnestly.
"Great Knight? What does that mean?"
She looked at the expression of the guard, and could hear some underlying confidence in his words.
"Because... Lord Pei Lie will be returning to the lord's mansion soon because of you."
"Pei Lie?" Upon hearing this name, Freya frowned slightly.
This was the second time she had heard this name; the first was from the mouth of a Sea Person.
From their expressions, it seemed that this person named Pei Lie was quite an important figure in Daqier City, and had some complicated ties with the Sea Tribe.
According to what the guard said, it appeared that Pei Lie had already reached the level of a Great Knight. And she had recently experienced that kind of power firsthand with the aid of the Earrings. Even with her current strength at Knight's Pinnacle, she would likely be defeated in an instant.
After weighing the pros and cons, she could tell from her brief encounter with Murphy that this lord was not unreasonable, so for now, she was relatively safe and did not need to take any risks.
"And," she touched her ear, feeling the cold touch of the Earrings glide across her fingertips.
"If something really needs to be done, with my current strength, even if I can obstruct him, I must be prepared for injury or death!"
After considering this, she turned around and returned to her room, deciding to wait for an opportunity to act.
The two guards standing by the door let out a huge sigh of relief when they saw Freya silently walk back.
It should be noted that their brief conversation had already put pressure on them comparable to an intense battle.
Moreover, the killing intent and aura that unintentionally leaked from her made it clear to both of them that the girl before them possessed terrifying strength.
'If it weren't for mentioning Lord Pei Lie, we might have already collapsed!'
Murphy held the paper in his hand with a serious expression, recalling the aggressive girl from before. He slowly said, "It seems that Oph's death has greatly affected the strength of the Sea Tribe Eagle Faction."
After pondering for a moment, he continued, "By the way, Pei Lie should be arriving here soon, right?"
"The lord is probably almost..."
The person had just begun to speak when a heavy metallic scraping sound echoed through the room.
A man dressed in all black armor, exuding a strong scent of blood, walked straight in.
The man was completely enveloped in armor, and his cold gaze pierced through the gaps in his helmet as if it were tangible. He bore no weapons, but every movement radiated explosive power, as if he could spring into battle at any moment.
Just standing there, his presence made Face, who was wearing Black Leather Armor beside him, turn pale.
The eyes hidden beneath the helmet scanned the two people in the room.
He removed his black helmet, revealing a handsome face somewhat similar to Murphy's, but with a smirk that seemed to mock him.
"Are you looking for me?"
"Lord Pei Lie," Face quickly bowed in response.
Murphy merely paused for a moment upon seeing him, then set down the confidential report in his hand and smiled.
"You've arrived? So, have you found out about what I asked you to investigate? That group of people..."
"Yes, I found out." Pei Lie nodded with a strange expression and then glanced at the person standing beside him.
Under Pei Lie's gaze, the man promptly bowed and exited the room, closing the door behind him.
At this moment, there were only two people left in the entire room.
Perhaps in front of others, Pei Lie was a powerful and ruthless Great Knight.
But now, facing Murphy, he relaxed and placed his helmet on the table before finding a chair to sit down. This attitude clearly indicated that their relationship was extremely close.
"I found out that they seem to have escaped from the war-torn Byron Kingdom, and judging by their strength, they don't appear to be ordinary people. Besides that girl, there are two other Knight Level experts, one of whom possesses peak strength. It seems that in Daqier City, the people from Chabrol are just a temporary stop for them; their destination is Dragon Harbor."
Listening to the information provided by Pei Lie, Murphy frowned slightly.
"Byron Kingdom? So, they really stumbled into this incident?"
"Yes, it seems to be the case. What do you plan to do?" Pei Lie questioned, curious about the man's next decision.
Knowing that this was a misunderstanding, Murphy's expression visibly relaxed.
"If it's a misunderstanding, then we should apologize and let them go."
"Huh? Let them go?" Pei Lie frowned slightly and then revealed a strange expression. "How could that be possible! I'm very interested in that girl who can kill a Knight Level peak with a single sword strike!"
It seemed that Pei Lie's words triggered something in him; Murphy's previously relaxed demeanor immediately turned tense again.
"What did you say!?"
Sitting in the chair, Pei Lie appeared to find something amusing and spoke teasingly.
"Heh heh, stop pretending. Although that girl has a complicated background, with your strength, it shouldn't be unacceptable, right? And it looks like they are seeking refuge; why not..."
Murphy looked at Pei Lie with some exasperation, finding it hard to imagine that this man with Great Knight strength could be so gossipy.
Ignoring Murphy's gaze, Pei Lie continued.
"We have lived together for so many years; do you really think I don't know your feelings? Don't you like that strong girl?"
"Uh..." Murphy, caught off guard, nodded helplessly. "Alright, I admit I have some feelings for her, but our current situation isn't suitable for that. The Sea Tribe may have temporarily retreated, but they haven't given up. They will definitely come back, and if something happens then, I will regret it for the rest of my life."
Perhaps Murphy's words touched on some of his thoughts, as he stared blankly through the window behind Murphy and sighed.
"Yeah... Daqier City seems peaceful and serene on the surface..."
This emotion quickly faded. He collected himself and said to Murphy with some seriousness.
"Are you really going to give her up? After all these years... This isn't the decisive Murphy I know."
Listening to Pei Lie's serious tone, Murphy frowned slightly.
After a long pause, it seemed he had made a final decision. "Well, I will give up for now, but if possible, after resolving the Sea Tribe issue completely, I will go to Dragon Harbor to find her, if I'm still alive by then..."
Murphy's answer made Pei Lie suddenly stand up from his chair, looking at him in astonishment.
"Go to Dragon Harbor... What about Daqier City?"
Seeing Pei Lie's expression, Murphy smiled and patted his shoulder. Although he wore a smile, his tone was heavy with fatigue.
"You know, ever since my father passed away, I've been the lord of this city for fifteen years now. My heart is already weary. So, my brother, after I'm gone, I will leave it to you..."
Murphy's weary expression gradually softened Pei Lie's astonished gaze. He understood everything Murphy had done for Daqier City over the years and the burdens he had borne. If it were left to him, he might already be overwhelmed by now.
But with his abilities, he could only secretly help him with his strength and try to share some of the pressure.
After thinking carefully about this decision, he gradually began to understand it.
"I might not acknowledge it then," came a deep voice, reluctantly conceding.
Despite this, Murphy still showed a grateful expression.
Pei Lie, feeling uncomfortable under his gaze, waved his hand and said, "Alright, that's enough. Since you've made your decision, I'll head back now. There are still many things to take care of over there."
Murphy nodded in understanding of what Pei Lie was dealing with.
"Okay, go ahead!"
Without lingering any longer, Pei Lie picked up the helmet on the table and turned to leave.
Watching the strong figure in Jet Black Armor walk out of the room, Murphy let out a deep breath and revealed a long-lost genuine smile.
