The body falling down startled the imperial soldiers still immersed in gold coins, and then the sound of cutting began to echo in their ears. 0

"Kill! Leave no one alive!" 0

With a pale face, Howard Bailey half-sat beside a stone, throwing his Cross Sword which instantly pierced through an imperial soldier who had reacted and tried to escape, shouting loudly. 0

Freya transformed into a shadow, her Cross Sword stabbing repeatedly as if reaping lives like the Grim Reaper, easily dispatching any soldiers that attempted to attack her. 0

By the time Freya had killed around ten people in an instant, some soldiers finally realized that the girl who had been smiling was actually the most dangerous person in the entire convoy. 0

"Run!!" 0

Amidst the slaughter, someone shouted, and the soldiers who had initially symbolized resistance immediately ran towards their warhorses. 0

Seeing this, Freya's gaze turned cold. What she had thought could be resolved peacefully was instead ending in the bloodiest way. Although she felt helpless inside, since she had made a decision, she would see it through to the end. 0

The man was wearing gray Leather Armor. His build was not particularly imposing, but he seemed quite agile. He only had a dagger as his primary weapon, yet he carried a Longbow and a quiver of arrows on his back, clearly dressed like a vanguard soldier. 0

Upon hearing the question, Freya approached with a merchant's smile that seemed to be a disguise. 0

"Sir, we are a merchant caravan from Angela heading to Candia. We stopped here to trade for some food." 0

"A merchant caravan?" The captain looked at Freya and her group with confusion. 0

Three carts appeared to be loaded with goods, accompanied by two children and about ten unarmed adults. 0

Such a caravan was quite common; however, apart from the two children, the others looked somewhat formidable, even if they were not warriors—they seemed to possess some strength. 0

With thirty imperial soldiers under his command, he felt that while these people might pose a threat, they were not particularly frightening. 0

It was just odd that a girl who looked no older than fifteen was the one responding for the entire caravan. 0

Frowning slightly, he glanced at Freya, who smiled and revealed dimples. Her rather beautiful face gave him a favorable impression. 0

'Perhaps she is the daughter of some merchant family; she is truly beautiful!' he thought. 0

"You shouldn't proceed any further; there will be some military conflict ahead. If you don't want to get involved, I suggest you turn back!" Perhaps due to Freya's personal charm, the captain did not doubt her too much and instead offered a kind warning. 0

"Military conflict?" Freya feigned surprise and looked at the captain with some confusion. "May I ask what..." 0

"Don't ask about things you shouldn't!" The captain interrupted her with a frown. "Also, from now on, all supplies in this town belong to the state, so you should hurry back!" 0

"Uh..." Freya felt a chill in her heart and then displayed a troubled expression. "Sir, our caravan has run out of food. If we don't replenish soon, it will be difficult for us to even return..." 0

She understood that as the vanguard of an army, their responsibilities included scouting enemy movements and securing supply locations for the troops, and this town might be one of their targets. 0

"Hmm? Out of food? That’s quite troublesome..." The captain squinted at Freya's face, suddenly seeming to think of something as he spoke. 0

"By the way! Since you are in business, you must have some money on you. If you take out half of your possessions, I can consider providing you with enough food. How does that deal sound?" 0

Freya's false expression slightly stiffened; she did not expect this group of vanguard troops to take advantage of the situation. 0

The others stirred slightly upon hearing the captain's words. They had just escaped from Green Castle and were essentially fugitives. According to the Baron's plan, the entire convoy would no longer have any ties to Byron. 0

"You!" Eric, behind her, could not hold back any longer. His face flushed slightly as he wanted to confront them directly, but fortunately, Howard Bailey beside him grabbed his hand and gently shook his head, signaling him not to act impulsively. 0

"...My lord, are you joking?" Freya forced a smile, as if she was startled by him. 0

"You think I'm joking?" The captain looked at Freya's expression with satisfaction and said proudly, "You should know that during wartime, I have the right to requisition all available resources. If you disagree, perhaps my brothers behind me can help you decide!" 0

As he spoke, several imperial soldiers behind him were already grinning and riding their horses a little closer. 0

In fact, this kind of behavior was not an exception; whenever war broke out, both friendly and enemy forces would take advantage of the chaos. 0

Freya had suspected this might happen before, but given the current urgent situation, such opportunistic behavior did not seem wise, especially coming from their own soldiers... She still held onto a glimmer of hope, only to find that she could not escape it after all. 0

If they were ordinary members of a merchant convoy, they might have already submitted by now. However, in front of her were fugitives with Knight Level expertise. 0

Freya narrowed her eyes as she looked at the more than thirty cavalrymen in front of her. With her strength and the cooperation of others, they could not completely hold them back. If even one got away, it might bring unnecessary trouble, posing a significant risk for their journey ahead. 0

Just as Freya was considering whether to give up some money, the captain continued. 0

"Of course, you can choose not to pay; however, you must stay behind!" 0

Suddenly, he pointed his finger at Freya, who was deep in thought. This made the girl’s expression harden slightly before she revealed a face full of frost. 0

Were they really going to rob her and then demand something more? 0

The people around her had already revealed their fierce intentions. It is important to note that Freya held a status in their hearts that was second only to Baron, and such an insult had filled them with rage. 0

These imperial soldiers were merely scouts and did not carry close-combat weapons, but they rode warhorses, giving them an advantage in speed. 0

“No, no, no, my lord, let’s just pay…” Freya suppressed the killing intent in her eyes and said weakly. “However, there is too much money in the cart; you should come and take it.” 0

At Freya's gesture, Nick, who was standing beside her, pretended to be frightened as he lifted a burlap sack behind a cart, revealing a glimpse of gold to everyone’s sight. 0

The captain, pleased with his cleverness, suddenly froze upon seeing the gold coins, and the soldiers around him began to show varied emotions. 0

Unexpectedly, they had hooked a big fish. 0

The captain's gaze shifted as he scanned the crowd of the caravan. He swallowed hard and said, “Brothers, dismount! Move the goods! With this money, who the hell would want to be a soldier anymore!” 0

Without needing the captain's command, several imperial soldiers at the front eagerly dismounted and pushed aside Nick, their eyes fixated on the gold coins. 0

The surrounding Guards instinctively made way, their cold gazes slowly shifting as they formed a semi-encirclement. 0

Freya quietly observed the imperial soldiers who had been blinded by greed and had dismounted from their horses. Her right hand slowly grasped the concealed Cross Sword. 0

The captain, holding a large handful of gold coins, looked at the boxes being unloaded before him with a grin that stretched from ear to ear. 0

Suddenly realizing something, he stood up and leered at Freya beside him. “I…” 0

‘Pfft’ 0

A thin line of blood slowly opened across the captain's neck before he could finish his sentence. 0

The sharp blade nearly severed half of his neck, and warm blood flowed onto the soldier beside him who was engrossed in stuffing gold coins into his own arms. 0
