Five Hours. 0

The dark sky was drizzling lightly. 0

On a wide road, four Black Carriages were slowly moving, surrounded by cavalrymen riding war Horses clad in Leather Armor. 0

The patter of rain on their faces brought a deep sense of fatigue. 0

At the front of the carriage was a tall, imposing, and handsome middle-aged man dressed in brown Leather Armor, with a Cross Sword hanging at his waist. His golden hair was casually tied back, and the rain gently fell on his rugged cheeks without shaking his determined gaze. 0

This convoy was the group led by the Baron who had escaped from Green Castle. 0

Due to the rain, Freya, who had changed into ordinary swordsman attire, sat inside the carriage instead of riding. Alongside her were the severely injured Howard Bailey and her younger brother Eric. 0

Because of his serious injuries, Howard Bailey spent most of these five hours resting except during meal times to recover quickly. Meanwhile, sitting at the back, Eric was carefully reading a basic swordsmanship book, occasionally gesturing with his fingers as if practicing. 0

Freya looked at her brother and smiled slightly. 0

The fall of Green Castle had changed Eric significantly; his previously gloomy personality had brightened considerably. He was no longer as reserved around the Baron, often taking the opportunity to ask Freya about basic sword techniques. The relationship among the three had become very harmonious during this time. 0

Lifting the curtain of the carriage, Freya turned her head and saw the Baron frowning as he gazed into the distance, where he had sent trusted aides to scout ahead. 0

Due to Saladin's sudden attack, they had hastily packed mostly valuables and money into the carriage, leaving little room for food and water. 0

Even with careful rationing, their group of over twenty people had very little food left after three days of fleeing. Fortunately, they encountered a stream on the fourth day that solved their water problem, but there was only enough food for one meal. 0

Thus, resupplying became the convoy's top priority. 0

According to the map, there was a town not far ahead. If nothing went wrong, they might be able to rest briefly and replenish their food supplies—of course, this depended on whether there was indeed a town. 0

"Otherwise, we’ll have to pause briefly and rely on hunting some wild beasts to stave off hunger," Freya thought to herself. 0

It was important to note that they were still within the borders of the Byron Kingdom. To exit quickly would require at least another three or four days of travel. Who knew how fast Saladin's invasion would proceed? A moment's delay could turn their 'escape' into a real 'doom'. 0

As Freya pondered this... 0

Suddenly, a series of urgent hoofbeats came from the front of the convoy, causing some of the downcast individuals to lift their heads slightly. 0

Soon, a Black Warhorse, identical to those in the convoy, appeared in view, ridden by a young man dressed in practical light armor with flaxen short hair. His expression was somewhat cold and cautious. Instead of a Cross Sword at his waist, he carried a dagger that resembled a Scimitar. 0

This person was suddenly revealed to be Nick, a trusted aide sent by the Baron. 0

As he approached the convoy, Nick tugged on the reins, gradually slowing the galloping warhorse. 0

"What did you find out?" the Baron asked in a low voice from the front. 0

"My lord, there is a town ahead, but the people there don't seem very friendly; they appeared quite guarded when they saw me," Nick replied to the Baron. 0

"Not very friendly?" The Baron frowned and then darkened his expression. "Regardless, as long as we can obtain supplies, it will suffice." 0

"Understood!" Nick nodded and turned his horse back toward the convoy. 0

Freya listened to their conversation, touching her Cross Sword beside her and feeling a sense of determination rise within her. 0

She understood that Saladin had officially invaded and was intent on annihilation. In such a critical moment of survival, any sense of morality was useless. 0

Most of the people in the convoy had been with the Baron for a long time; they could tell from his expression that if it came to it, they would have to resort to force. 0

Freya's injuries from her last battle with Philip had mostly healed over these past few days. With both her and the Baron's Knight Level strength, no one in this remote town could stop them. 0

The gloomy rain added to the oppressive atmosphere, weighing down people's spirits. 0

Freya sat in the carriage, swaying with its movements. Uncertain about what would happen next, her mood was not very high. She touched her slightly hungry stomach and casually picked up a water pouch beside her for a sip of fresh water. 0

Nick glanced at Freya sitting in the carriage; his cold expression shifted slightly. He then maneuvered his warhorse closer. 0

Suddenly, he reached back and accurately tossed a gray package in front of Freya. 0

"Hmm?" The descending package surprised Freya. She turned to glance at Nick, who had quickly moved behind the Baron; his cold expression seemed as if it had not belonged to him just moments ago. 0

However, with Freya's Knight Level senses, she had already noticed Nick's movements but chose not to reveal herself out of curiosity. 0

Opening the package, she found it contained some dried beef jerky, a snack commonly carried by warriors and hunters. Due to certain environmental conditions, some places are not suitable for cooking, so these easily preserved foods become the main sustenance for these individuals. 0

She hadn't expected that Nick would have such items with him, and it was clearly meant for Freya. 0

Gently picking up a piece of jerky, she placed it in her mouth and chewed slowly. The tough texture made her teeth ache slightly, which she relieved by drinking a few sips of water. 0

This coarse food had a bit of saltiness to it, and after chewing for a while, it actually tasted quite good. However, after eating just two pieces, Freya felt a slight sense of fullness. 0

She took out two pieces from the package and placed them in front of Eric, who was still reading, then packed the remaining jerky and tossed it directly onto Nick's head. 0

The sudden attack made Nick flinch slightly. When he realized it was the package he had given to Freya, he paused for a moment before turning his gaze away, though his cold expression had a faint blush. 0

Baron, walking ahead, seemed to have noticed something. He turned his head and glanced at Freya and Nick but didn't say anything. 0

Freya felt no ripple in her heart regarding this incident. Perhaps Nick had feelings for her, but in this situation, she wasn't in the mood to think about anything else. All she wanted now was to escape this country that was about to become a battlefield. 0
