The two behaviors of restraint were too strange, causing Lingfeng to feel suspicious. However, since he could not understand the conversation between the two, Lingfeng returned to the fire circle and pretended that nothing had happened.
Not long after Lingfeng returned, Invisible Ghost also came back. Seeing Lingfeng still meditating quietly, he lay down quietly as well, pretending that nothing had occurred.
The next morning, Fei Fei and Jiao Jiao woke Lingfeng and Invisible Ghost.
After eating a little carelessly, everyone began to pack their gear. In fact, there wasn't much to pack; they simply checked their belongings before setting off.
Invisible Ghost showed no unusual expression. Since Fei Fei and Jiao Jiao had slept quite soundly, they were completely unaware of what had happened the previous night.
To avoid alarming the snake by beating the grass, Lingfeng also chose not to mention what had happened yesterday.
"Five Elements Young Master, where are we going next? We can't just wander around aimlessly!" After walking for a while, Jiao Jiao began to ask.
Lingfeng actually didn't know what to do either. As far as he knew, Hermits generally preferred to live in deep mountains. However, the only deep mountain in the Mandala Demon Realm was Moling Mountain, but it was impossible for there to be any Hermits there.
Lingfeng thought for a moment and looked at Invisible Ghost, asking, "You should know a lot about the Mandala Demon Realm. Do you know where there are any Hermits?"
Invisible Ghost had already anticipated that Lingfeng would ask him this question. After thinking for a moment, he replied, "This area is flat with no mountains. However, there must be some Hermits in the Mandala Demon Realm, and most of them likely reside in rural areas far from towns!"
Everyone nodded in agreement. Lingfeng's eyes lit up as he smiled and said, "That makes sense! Why didn't I think of that?" After a pause, he asked again, "Do you know where there are rural areas far from towns?"
Invisible Ghost pondered for a while. Although everyone couldn't see his expression, they knew he was reminiscing. After some time, Invisible Ghost said, "I remember a few years ago when I accompanied the sect master to recruit disciples, we visited a village that was quite remote. So I think there should be some Hermits there!" The sect master referred to Hezi.
"How can we get there?" Lingfeng quickly asked.
"That's not difficult," Invisible Ghost replied. "Back then we walked through a swamp and then crossed a grassland before finding that village in a concave area. It should take about three days to get there from here!"
Lingfeng looked at Fei Fei and Jiao Jiao, feeling a bit hesitant.
Although Fei Fei and Jiao Jiao were skilled in martial arts, crossing the swamp was somewhat difficult for girls. Moreover, there were dangerous animals in the swamp, and no one could predict what might happen.
After a moment of silence, Lingfeng tentatively said, "Fei Fei, Jiao Jiao, why don't you two go back to He Zhuang first? I’ll go to the swamp with Invisible Ghost!"
Fei Fei and Jiao Jiao were both taken aback, seemingly puzzled.
"Why?" Fei Fei asked.
"There are too many dangers in the swamp. If anything happens to you, I would feel guilty!" Lingfeng replied.
To Lingfeng's surprise, Fei Fei and Jiao Jiao both smiled lightly, as if they found Lingfeng's concern amusing.
"What’s the big deal? We've been through all sorts of places before; a mere swamp can't be that dangerous," Fei Fei said nonchalantly.
"Yeah, exactly! When we weren't taken in by the sect master, we traversed through the Cultivation Realm like this," Jiao Jiao chimed in.
Lingfeng still felt a bit uneasy, but seeing the carefree expressions on Fei Fei and Jiao Jiao's faces made him somewhat believe their words.
After a moment of silence, Lingfeng sighed in compromise. In fact, he was also worried about sending Fei Fei and Jiao Jiao back to He Zhuang. Hezi was cunning; who knew where he would send the two beauties next? Furthermore, Hezi relied on Fei Fei and Jiao Jiao to attract disciples. If Lingfeng joined the Alliance, Fei Fei and Jiao Jiao would surely lose their freedom and fall back into Hezi's clutches.
Thus, Invisible Ghost led Lingfeng, Fei Fei, and Jiao Jiao as they traveled for three consecutive days, crossing plains and desolate lands until they finally arrived at Invisible Ghost's swamp.
In fact, rather than a swamp, it resembled a graveyard filled with traps.
The four stood at the edge of the swamp, peering inside but hesitating to decide whether to enter. They saw sparse trees growing within the swamp, with the ground covered in wild grass. Crows perched on the trees cawed loudly, waiting for travelers to sink into the muddy pits or be killed by the poisonous wild animals lurking within.
The swamp was dark and damp, filled with mist. Although sunlight shone directly inside, there was not a hint of vitality. In the distance, one could see the skeletons of either humans or animals.
"Is this your swamp?" Lingfeng asked, his body covered in cold sweat.
Invisible Ghost nodded, his expression somewhat heavy, as if the scene before him was unexpected. "It wasn't like this the last time I came here. This place seems to have changed a lot over the years. Not only has the scenery changed, but even the atmosphere here feels different!"
Fei Fei and Jiao Jiao held each other's hands tightly, nervously watching the swamp.
Lingfeng glanced at the two and thought for a moment. "This place is too strange. If we just go through it, even if we don't die, we'll get hurt!"
The swamp stretched endlessly on both sides, leaving no way to detour. However, since the four of them had already arrived here, turning back would be a pity.
"Why not just burn this place down?" Lingfeng gritted his teeth and proposed a plan.
"But it's so eerie here, and the humidity is high. How could a fire possibly catch?" Fei Fei hesitated.
Lingfeng smirked dismissively and waved his hand, patting his chest and abdomen. "Don't worry about that. Remember, I can use Fire Control Technique. As long as my Spiritual Energy is sufficient, I can make the flames burn for as long as I want!" With that, Lingfeng took out a Firecracker, recited the Fire Control Incantation, and then tossed the Firecracker into the air, releasing a large amount of Spiritual Energy.
"Blazing Bomb!" Lingfeng shouted loudly, using his Spiritual Energy to maximize the flames from the Firecracker. The firelight flickered brightly, almost illuminating half of the sky.
Invisible Ghost, Fei Fei, and Jiao Jiao all moved far away, watching as the massive fireball soared into the air and then seemed to become part of it, shining down on the center of the swamp.
Then came a thunderous sound that resembled cannon fire; countless fireballs descended, radiating waves of intense heat as they fell into the swamp.
Lingfeng clapped his hands and beads of sweat appeared on his forehead.
The swamp echoed with continuous rumbling sounds and swirling smoke; however, there were no signs of fire catching.
"Looks like we have to wait a bit!" Lingfeng said, panting heavily.
Invisible Ghost took a step forward, staring at the swamp, and after a moment, slowly said, "Is this the power of cultivators? It's truly terrifying. On the battlefield, without the need for cannon fire, they could easily wipe out an entire unit. At that time, I fear none of us ninjas would be able to escape."
Lingfeng smiled and sighed, "It's a pity that cultivators can only use their powers here; otherwise, how could you Japanese have the chance to invade our country?"
Invisible Ghost's expression changed slightly, but he remained silent.
In fact, Lingfeng knew that every cultivation method has its own advantages and disadvantages; it doesn't mean that cultivators are invincible.
Lingfeng had never witnessed the true power of a ninja, but just from Invisible Ghost's cultivation level, he already felt intimidated. After all, among cultivators, those who can easily hide themselves in plain sight are exceedingly rare.
The rumbling sounds from within the swamp continued, and the crows waiting for food were startled and scattered, cawing angrily at Lingfeng.
"Huh?" Lingfeng felt a hint of confusion. Could it be that Blazing Bomb really had no effect?
Just as he was puzzled, a sudden sound like a hurricane erupted from within the swamp, as if it was about to sweep over them.
Invisible Ghost took a step back and tightened his embrace around himself, warning, "The wind is picking up!"
"The wind?" Lingfeng and the others exclaimed in unison. It was clearly a sunny day; how could there suddenly be wind?
Though somewhat incredulous, Lingfeng still sensed a disturbance through Adapt to the Qi Field. The moment the wind sounded, it felt as if the entire space's Aura had been disrupted, and that feeling was emanating from within the swamp.
"Indeed strange!" Lingfeng pulled Fei Fei and Jiao Jiao back a step and then looked at Invisible Ghost. "I'll leave them to you; there's an aura of malevolence in this wind. We might be facing an opponent!"
"Malevolence?" Fei Fei and Jiao Jiao simultaneously showed expressions of concern; the fearless spirit they had displayed against Snow Wolf was completely gone.
Time flew by, and as soon as the words of the two beauties fell, the air around them felt completely distorted. A sudden gust of hot wind swept through, darkening the sky and obscuring their vision.
"Invisible Ghost, quickly take them and escape! Leave this to me!" Lingfeng found himself in complete darkness, only feeling the pain of branches and dirt scraping against his face.
"Take care of yourself!" Amidst the chaos, he heard Invisible Ghost's shout, accompanied by the faint voices of Fei Fei and Jiao Jiao giving their advice.
Lingfeng squinted but saw no sign of anyone else. Calming his mind, he recited the Earth Escape Technique and vanished from his spot.
While the ground above was being ravaged by the fierce winds, everything underground remained calm as usual.
Lingfeng walked slowly underground, navigating through several safe paths until he reached the center of the swamp.
"So it was you causing all this trouble!" Lingfeng poked his head above ground and saw a gigantic Black Spider, with the winds emanating from its mouth.
The Black Spider resembled a massive statue; if not for its limbs moving back and forth, Lingfeng would have had difficulty realizing it was a living creature.
This Black Spider was originally a creature of the swamp, but Lingfeng's Blazing Bomb had startled it. To prevent its home from being burned down, the Black Spider released the Black Wind.
Although Lingfeng was an intruder, seeing this Black Spider excited him immensely because it was a rare find. The inner core within it was essential for cultivating the Spider Silk Technique.
