The big man’s originally dark face turned red with anger, his cheeks trembling violently as if a flame were about to burst from his mouth.
Lingfeng grinned, raised an eyebrow at the big man, and said with a smile, “Who’s really teaching whom a lesson here? Don’t forget, it was you who invited me; I didn’t come begging you to bring me along.” After a pause, he glanced at Hezi and added with dissatisfaction, “Is this how you treat your guests? It seems I’m not very welcome here. Well then…” With that, Lingfeng began to stand up and said, “I’ll just leave to avoid bothering you!”
Hezi quickly put on a smiling face and rushed to stop Lingfeng, saying, “He’s just a rash big man; why bother arguing with him? For my sake, let’s give him some face and stay a few more days!”
The big man was still quite unconvinced but dared not go against Hezi’s wishes. He angrily swung his hand and stormed off inside.
“Wait a minute!” Lingfeng called out to the big man. Seeing him hesitate, Lingfeng turned to Hezi and said, “This big man has disrespected me before, and I’m worried he might try something at night.”
“You…” The big man was frustrated by Lingfeng's persistence but didn’t know what Lingfeng was up to.
Hezi laughed heartily and secretly signaled to the big man before turning to Lingfeng and asking, “So what does the hero want to do?”
Lingfeng deliberately remained silent for a moment, his eyes darting around the big man before finally saying, “I want him to carry me inside!”
“You scoundrel! You’re taking this too far!” The big man was hot-tempered; seeing Lingfeng bully him like this made him unwilling to comply. Before Hezi could speak up, he began to curse loudly.
Lingfeng ignored him and crossed his arms, waiting for Hezi’s response.
Hezi looked at the big man and then at Lingfeng; both had stubborn expressions. Although he didn’t want his brother to suffer, he needed to find a way to keep Lingfeng around.
After a moment of silence, Hezi smiled and said, “Since the hero wants him to carry you inside, then let him do it. Besides, it would be an honor for him to carry such a hero!” He then looked sternly at the big man and commanded, “Come over here and carry the hero!”
The big man stared in surprise at Hezi, not expecting him to compromise. However, he still didn’t dare provoke Hezi and squatted down with a flushed face.
As soon as the big man squatted down, Lingfeng took the opportunity to hop onto his back and deliberately swayed back and forth for effect.
"You liar, you only need to carry me, why are you riding on my neck!" the big man questioned unhappily.
Lingfeng tugged at the big man's ear, tightened his legs, and pushed off forcefully, saying, "Your smell is too strong; I'm afraid it will get on me. But since my smell down below is similar to yours, I'm not worried!"
"You..." The big man rolled his eyes in frustration, wishing he could throw Lingfeng off.
The others stifled their laughter but dared not make a sound.
Hezi felt quite awkward but had nothing to say, so he took the lead and walked ahead.
After passing through the corridor, they arrived at the front yard.
Lingfeng jumped down from the big man's neck and looked around. He saw a massive Mulberry Tree in the yard, with a trunk so thick that even five Lingfengs would struggle to wrap around it.
Unable to contain his curiosity, Lingfeng walked toward the tree.
Hezi exchanged glances with the others, signaling them to leave. He then approached Lingfeng, gazing up at the Mulberry Tree, and said, "This tree has been here for over a thousand years, standing alone in this yard. We let it serve as an ornamental plant."
"A thousand-year-old Mulberry Tree, hasn't it gained sentience?" Lingfeng asked curiously.
Hezi shook his head and sighed softly, "It's not easy for trees to gain sentience."
Then there was silence as both of them looked up at the enormous Mulberry Tree, their expressions filled with reverence.
"I have instructed them to prepare a meal; they will arrange a Welcome Banquet for you shortly," Hezi suddenly said after a moment of silence.
Lingfeng smiled and glanced at Hezi, saying, "I'm not returning in triumph; there's no need for a Welcome Banquet."
The Welcome Banquet is generally prepared for one's own people. Hezi preparing a Welcome Banquet implies that Lingfeng is considered one of them. However, Lingfeng was not ready to accept this so easily, especially since he belonged to the Demon Suppression Sect and would not easily join another faction.
Lingfeng's words clearly expressed his stance, but Hezi was not disappointed. He understood that bringing Lingfeng into their fold would not be a short-term endeavor, and said, "Consider this a welcome feast for you. Who knows, we might end up on the same front in the future!"
Lingfeng remained silent, quietly observing the Mulberry Tree before turning to leave.
"I have arranged your room and provided you with two attendants. If you need anything, just let me know!" Hezi followed Lingfeng.
Lingfeng lightly acknowledged and asked, "Are the attendants male or female?"
It was not that Lingfeng was lecherous; he wanted to discern Hezi's intentions. If they were men, it would mean they were spies placed by Hezi. If they were women, it would indicate that Hezi intended to please Lingfeng. However, beauty often made it easier to gather information about Lingfeng.
Both male and female attendants had their own motives, but Lingfeng confidently believed he could win over women, though he might not necessarily be interested in them.
Hearing Lingfeng's question, Hezi smiled lightly and said, "They are two stunning beauties from He Zhuang. I believe they will certainly satisfy you!"
If Hezi's two beauties had been stunning before meeting the Assassin Hall Master, Lingfeng might not have believed it. But ever since meeting the Assassin Hall Master, Lingfeng was convinced that the Mandala Demon Realm was not as evil as its name suggested and hid beautiful women within. Thus, Lingfeng eagerly asked Hezi to take him to his residence.
Lingfeng's residence was arranged in a separate courtyard in the front yard, resembling a garden filled with fragrant flowers everywhere. The house he stayed in looked elegant despite its simplicity. It was situated amidst the flowers and plants, giving off a sense of being in a paradise.
"How do you feel?" Hezi asked tentatively when he saw Lingfeng's joyful expression.
Lingfeng nodded in satisfaction, lightly inhaling the fragrant air of the garden before stepping inside the house.
Inside, two beautiful women were cleaning the room, which had already been tidied up neatly as if they were going to stay there long-term.
With Hezi present, Lingfeng did not want to show too much curiosity about the two beauties; he merely glanced at them and noticed they looked identical—indeed, they were twins.
"Are they twins?" Lingfeng asked curiously.
Hezi squinted his eyes and waved at the two beautiful women.
The two women approached, slightly bending their knees to greet Hezi and Lingfeng, then stood to the side, waiting for instructions.
"Xia, what do you think of them?" Hezi asked with a smile.
Lingfeng clicked his tongue twice, disregarding Hezi's presence, and walked up to closely examine the two beauties. He noticed their delicate brows like willows, eyes glistening like dew, and their lips slightly parted. Their figures were captivating; although they couldn't compare to Enchanting and Assassin Hall Master, they were enough to make Lingfeng's heart flutter.
"What are your names?" Lingfeng asked curiously.
The girl on the left slightly bent her knee and said, "My name is Fei Fei, and this is my sister, Jiao Jiao."
"Fei Fei, Jiao Jiao!" Lingfeng repeated their names silently twice, committing them to memory.
At that moment, footsteps were heard from outside as the previous burly man walked in. He glanced at the two beauties with a hint of reluctance before turning to Hezi and saying, "Big Brother, the banquet is ready!"
The man's expression did not escape Lingfeng's notice; he realized that the man was jealous of him.
Hezi nodded and turned to Lingfeng, saying, "Xia, the banquet is ready. Let's go!"
"Sure," Lingfeng rubbed his hands together, indicating that he was a bit hungry. Just as he was about to step out, he paused again and said to Fei Fei and Jiao Jiao, "You should come too!"
The two hesitated and looked at Hezi but did not move.
Hezi glanced at Lingfeng and sternly told the two women, "I have already given you to Xia; you will listen to him from now on!"
"Yes!" The two slightly bent their knees and replied in unison.
Lingfeng, accompanied by the two beauties, followed Hezi into the main hall of the front yard, where everyone had already gathered. Hezi took his seat at the head of the table and offered the first seat, originally belonging to a burly man, to Lingfeng. Another chair was placed behind, where the burly man sat in the second position, while the others stepped back slightly.
Lingfeng surveyed the crowd and noticed that they belonged to two distinct styles, much like those in the State Government—scholarly like a gentle breeze and martial like a fierce stone, exuding a robust aura.
Hezi did not sit down immediately. Noticing the strange looks from everyone, he understood that they were puzzled about Lingfeng being given the first seat.
Hezi's chair was at the head, while the first chair on the left side was considered the primary seat, and the first chair on the right side was regarded as the second. The arrangement then continued in this manner.
Typically, only someone who is above all others could occupy the first seat here, yet Lingfeng had effortlessly taken it upon his arrival, which naturally raised eyebrows.
Lingfeng remained calm and composed, as if he were at home. Seeing others looking at him with confusion, he returned their puzzled expressions.
"There is no need for curiosity, brothers. This young man is called Five Element Hero; he is a chivalrous figure I just met," Hezi spoke up.
The others maintained blank expressions, attentively listening to Hezi's words before glancing at Lingfeng again.
"This Five Element Hero possesses remarkable skills. Although he has not yet reached the formal Demon Cultivation Realm, his abilities are certainly on par with yours!"
