Fire Phoenix soared up and down, spinning above the burly man without causing him any harm.
"How about it? Do you admit defeat?" Lingfeng asked coldly, looking at the burly man with a threatening gaze.
The burly man nervously glanced at Fire Phoenix, then at Lingfeng, and suddenly feigned a move before running to another spot. After stopping, he revealed several throwing darts in his hand.
He quickly hurled the darts, and the entire inn was filled with the sound of cracking as cups and plates shattered on the tables. Some darts flew toward Fire Phoenix, while others aimed at Lingfeng.
After all, Lingfeng had just mastered Fire Phoenix Soars, and the Fire Phoenix created had no offensive power. When the Fire Phoenix was hit by the darts, it instantly turned into a wisp of blue smoke and vanished without a trace.
Seeing the darts coming, Lingfeng dodged up and down, slipping through the gaps between the darts and casually catching a few.
The burly man noticed that Fire Phoenix had disappeared, and his tension eased somewhat. He then said to Lingfeng, "Let's see who wins this time!"
"Still not giving up?" Lingfeng narrowed his eyes, a flash of Killing Intent emerging from them. He swiftly threw the darts in his hand, and with a whoosh, two darts struck the burly man's arms.
"Ah, what?" The burly man looked at his arms in shock, unable to believe what had just happened.
"Hmph, don't you know that anyone with elemental control abilities in Spirit Sect learns Assassination Technique?"
Enduring the pain, the burly man glanced at Lingfeng in panic.
Hearing the burly man's scream, his accomplices upstairs rushed out without caring about their fear.
"You..." One of them saw the burly man injured and hurried over, glaring at Lingfeng with resentment.
"Sin can be forgiven; self-inflicted wounds cannot be survived!" Lingfeng declared as he threw out two shadows with both hands, sending several darts flying simultaneously.
The burly man looked at Lingfeng in despair, preparing to accept his fate when suddenly there was a loud rumble. The entire inn shook, and it seemed to twist out of shape for an instant. The fiery net surrounding the inn also vanished in that moment.
But in that instant, the darts shot by Lingfeng had deviated from their original path and were now embedded in the wooden door of the inn.
Standing quietly, Lingfeng instinctively looked toward the entrance of the inn. What kind of cultivation could distort an inn and restore it to its original state in an instant?
"Big brother?" The burly man seemed to recognize who had arrived and eagerly looked around with anticipation, exclaiming joyfully.
"The disciples of the Spirit Sect truly live up to their reputation!" A mysterious voice echoed in Lingfeng's ears, as if the entire inn had expanded countless times.
Lingfeng was startled and quickly drew the Connecting Rod, preparing for a fight. He called out, "Who goes there? Why hide your true identity and create such mystery?"
Before the mysterious person could respond, a burly man laughed triumphantly and said, "Although we have no sect or faction, we have secretly formed an organization. Before you die, let me tell you our name." After a pause, the burly man continued, "We are the Alliance, and the one who has come is our big brother, Hezi!"
Lingfeng couldn't help but burst into laughter upon hearing this. "I've only heard of the Spirit Sect in the Mandala Demon Realm. What kind of sect is this Alliance? And who is this Hezi? Sounds more like a Taoist name!"
"Hahaha..." Hezi chuckled lightly and said, "I really like your personality." Just then, a gust of wind blew through, and the doors and windows of the inn suddenly flew open as a person entered from outside. The newcomer looked ordinary, but his sharp eyebrows resembled two curved blades.
Lingfeng took a closer look at the person but found nothing particularly special. He relaxed his stance and sat down to one side.
Seeing Lingfeng's carefree demeanor and lack of fear, the newcomer approached with a broad smile and said softly, "I can't say much here; would you be willing to accompany me to the Alliance?"
Lingfeng remained silent, pondering to himself, "I've never heard of any Alliance since coming to the Cultivation Realm, nor have I heard of this Hezi. However, since the Alliance is a privately formed organization, it must be aimed at countering the Spirit Sect. It seems they are likely short on manpower and may want to recruit me." With that thought in mind, Lingfeng glanced at Hezi again. Seeing his sincere expression, he decided not to refuse. He thought it wouldn't be bad to go along for some fun and stood up saying, "Thank you for thinking highly of me, Senior Hezi; I will take my leave!"
Hezi smiled, glanced at the burly man sitting on the ground, tossed him a pill, and then left.
The burly man caught the pill and was helped up by others before wobbling away.
Once outside the town, everyone fell silent for a moment until they suddenly heard a loud crash.
Lingfeng was startled and quickly turned around to see that the inn was engulfed in flames; it had become a Sea of Fire. Looking at Hezi and the others' expressions, it seemed they had known about this all along.
"Did you do this?" Lingfeng asked coldly with furrowed brows.
Hezi smiled politely at Lingfeng without even glancing back at the burning inn. "Our Alliance has always kept our names hidden to gather strength to eliminate the Spirit Sect and unify the Mandala Demon Realm. There were too many idle people just now; to protect our Alliance's secrets, we had no choice but to act this way!"
Lingfeng exhaled sharply and shot Hezi an angry glare. However, before he could unleash his fury, some people approached from behind.
These individuals were dressed in white robes and hurriedly knelt before Hezi saying, "Big Brother, another group of Demon Cultivators has escaped!"
Hezi's expression changed suddenly; he was about to explode in anger but then glanced at Lingfeng's amused face and suppressed his rage. Looking at a cold-faced person beside him, he commanded, "You go kill them all!"
The person merely lowered his head slightly and said, "Yes," before flying away.
"What kind of people are these? How can they have such impressive cultivation? But why do they call the leader 'big brother'? Are they all a group of highly skilled bandits?" Lingfeng pondered to himself.
After that, there was no more conversation. Lingfeng followed the others to a manor. Upon reaching the entrance, he saw the three large characters "He Zhuang" written on the gate.
Looking at the plaque above, Lingfeng chuckled and said, "Since the Alliance was secretly formed, why is there such an obvious sign hanging up?"
Hezi, however, was not affected by Lingfeng's sarcasm. He smiled lightly and replied, "This He Zhuang is merely a location for the Alliance. Some of my brothers use business as an excuse to consolidate the Alliance's power here!"
As Lingfeng entered through the gate with the others, he found the interior to be very spacious, several times larger than the White Jade Escort Agency. Inside were intricately carved corridors and painted walls, with golden bricks and jade walls. There were also precious flowers and trees that filled the air with fragrance, resembling a paradise on earth.
Lingfeng hesitated as he looked at Hezi and then at the scenery within the manor, feeling somewhat relieved.
"The manor is a bit grand; please forgive me, Five Element Brothers!" Hezi said with a slight bow.
Lingfeng glanced at Hezi and grinned, saying, "It's clearly a grand and beautiful manor. Why do you still say that? Do you think I am some ancient giant or something?"
Hezi intended to be modest but ended up being met with unexpected resistance.
After walking a few more steps, they arrived at a Lotus Pond, which only contained some lotus leaves and a few golden koi swimming leisurely.
Although the scenery was lovely, Lingfeng felt uneasy. Just moments ago, his subordinates had destroyed an inn; who knows how many people had died. Coming here without addressing matters quickly felt like a show of extravagance to Lingfeng.
Sighing, Lingfeng decided not to walk any further and sat down beside the Lotus Pond, sulking as he stared into the distance.
Seeing Lingfeng's behavior, everyone was at a loss and turned to look at Hezi.
Hezi's expression changed slightly as he patiently said, "If we walk a little further and turn around a Rockery, we will reach the front courtyard."
Lingfeng snorted coldly, acting like an invited guest who had been treated poorly. He grumbled, "Since you invited me here, you should at least prepare a sedan chair. Even if there isn't one, there should be some horses. But here you are without either and trying to show off; what do you think I feel? Do you think I would be jealous or envious of you?"
Hezi was taken aback by Lingfeng's sudden outburst and stood there in confusion, unsure of how to respond.
The burly man who had been injured by Lingfeng stepped forward, snorting in anger, "What an inconsiderate brat! My brother kindly invited you here, and yet you act like this. Don't you even ask what kind of place this is? This is our territory. How could my brother endure such disrespect? I think you're just asking for trouble!"
Lingfeng smirked disdainfully, glancing at the man with impatience, and pretended to stand up. The man, however, was startled and took a few steps back.
"Honestly, I haven't bathed in days; it's a bit itchy!" Lingfeng scratched his back casually while mumbling.
Hezi shot a glare at the burly man and sternly commanded, "Step back! You have no right to speak here!" Then he turned to Lingfeng with a smile and asked, "Are you tired from walking, young hero? Should I have my brothers carry you on a palanquin?"
Lingfeng remained unyielding and replied to himself, "I've been walking for too long; my bones feel like they're falling apart. How could I withstand the jolting of a palanquin?"
Having spent so much time in the Demon Suppression Sect, Lingfeng was well aware of how true adults conducted themselves. Hezi's behavior was more like that of a servant. Even if one had to accommodate someone, it should be done with a stern smile like Qing's. Although Hezi seemed somewhat impatient, Lingfeng understood that he was trying to win him over, which is why he was being so patient and pleasant. If he were ever to submit to Hezi in the future, it would surely lead to hardship. Therefore, Lingfeng planned to have some fun while gathering information.
"If the palanquin is too bumpy, how about I use magic to let you ride on clouds instead?" Hezi suggested again.
Lingfeng lazily patted his shoulder and said, "I've walked too far; it makes me uneasy. I'm afraid of heights; it makes my head spin!"
In truth, Lingfeng wasn't really that delicate; he just wanted to play around a bit.
The burly man could no longer tolerate it. He stomped heavily on the ground like a provoked bull and shouted angrily, "This won't do, that won't do! How about I show you some color?"
