On the second morning, Lingfeng got up very late.
In a daze, Lingfeng felt completely exhausted. After some effort, he finally managed to get out of bed.
"What's going on? I feel so sluggish this morning." Lingfeng yawned and walked outside, noticing that the sun was already high in the sky.
In the Dan Room, Lingfeng could see faint flames through the window, which were from the Alchemical Furnace below.
"It should be ready by now!" Lingfeng muttered to himself, then entered the Alchemy Room. He opened the Alchemical Furnace and found a pure white pill inside. If one didn't look closely, they might mistake it for a pearl.
Lingfeng extinguished the fire and took out the pill. Just then, Mei walked into the Dan Room, squinting her eyes and smiling at Lingfeng, "Did you sleep well?"
Lingfeng's eyes were dark, resembling a panda, clearly indicating he hadn't rested well.
Realizing her comment was unnecessary, Mei stuck out her tongue and said, "I'll go make some medicinal ingredients. You should drink a bowl of Ginseng Soup!"
Lingfeng nodded listlessly and muttered in confusion, "I've never felt this drained before in my life!"
Hearing Lingfeng's words, Mei quickly replied, "You haven't cultivated for several days; it must be due to the imbalance of energies in your body that's causing this fatigue. But once you drink a bowl of Ginseng Soup, you'll feel better!"
Lingfeng nodded and looked at Mei with a silly smile.
"What are you grinning about?" Mei asked in confusion.
"Hehe," Lingfeng chuckled brightly, "If you stay by my side in the future, I won't have to worry about feeling unwell anymore!"
Mei froze for a moment, her face suddenly turning red. She shot a glare at Lingfeng and scolded, "Who wants to be with you!" With that, she turned and ran into the kitchen without looking back.
Watching Mei's retreating figure, Lingfeng felt a surge of emotions.
Ziren remained motionless on the bed, beads of sweat forming on his forehead.
Lingfeng let out a sigh and irritably wiped Ziren's face. Although his face was cleaned, it turned red from the force used.
"Such a sissy, you actually know how to feel shy?" Lingfeng shot Ziren a glare, still holding a poor impression of him. Since Ziren was awake and didn't dare to act recklessly, Lingfeng decided to take the opportunity to mock him while he was asleep.
A pleasant fragrance wafted in from outside the door, instantly refreshing Lingfeng.
"Lingfeng, the Ginseng Soup is ready!" Mei entered with two bowls of Ginseng Soup on a wooden tray.
"What’s next? Do we just feed him the elixir directly?" Lingfeng asked.
Mei set down the Ginseng Soup and handed a bowl to Lingfeng, saying with concern, "Drink it quickly; it will get cold soon!"
Lingfeng didn’t refuse. Just as he brought the bowl to his lips, he raised an eyebrow at Mei and smiled, "You should have some too!"
"Ah!" Mei looked confused, not understanding what Lingfeng meant.
"It tastes better when I drink the soup you've had!" Lingfeng said shamelessly.
Mei was taken aback, staring at Lingfeng's innocent eyes, unsure of how to respond. After a moment, she gently took a sip.
Lingfeng raised an eyebrow and smiled, then drank the entire bowl of Ginseng Soup where Mei had sipped from.
"Now, how do we feed Ziren the elixir?" Lingfeng looked at Ziren's tightly closed lips, asking in confusion.
Mei frowned and after a while said, "You feed him!"
"Me?" Lingfeng pointed at his own face in disbelief. "How am I supposed to feed him?"
Mei pointed to her mouth and whispered, "Just put the medicine in his throat, then you take a sip of soup, and feed him mouth to mouth!"
Lingfeng gritted his teeth and looked at Ziren, wishing he could kill him.
"Is there really no other way?" Lingfeng asked tentatively.
Mei shook her head. "It's just you and me here, and there's no other way!"
Lingfeng felt a wave of despair, as if the ground was about to collapse beneath him. After a moment, he looked at Mei and smiled. "Mei, I'm a man. I can't do something so embarrassing. How about you feed him instead?"
"You!" Mei's face flushed red as she angrily replied, "I'm a woman; I can't do it either!"
"Ah?" Lingfeng was taken aback, realizing that Mei seemed a bit angry. But looking at Ziren, who was incredibly handsome, he felt inferior. Women like capable and good-looking men; why didn't Mei like him? The only reason could be that Mei had someone in her heart.
"Isn't he handsome?" Lingfeng asked again.
Mei's face turned crimson, her entire expression changed, and her chest rose and fell dramatically, yet she remained silent.
Lingfeng scratched his head and looked at Ziren with confusion before bluntly asking, "Do you have someone you like?"
Only then did Mei seem to relax a bit. She looked at Lingfeng and slowly nodded.
"Who is it?" Lingfeng asked playfully.
"You..." Mei was once again so angry that she couldn't speak. She simply slammed the soup bowl on the table and turned to leave.
Lingfeng watched the spilled Ginseng Soup and sighed. Then he had a sudden idea, sneering twice as he casually tossed the white pill onto the ground, rolling it into the spilled Ginseng Soup.
"Ziren, after you harmed me at the White Jade Escort Agency, not putting poison in your antidote is already letting you off easy!" With that, Lingfeng softly recited the Water Control Technique incantation, causing the soup on the ground to rise up, enveloping the white pill inside.
Lingfeng opened Ziren's mouth and casually waved, causing the soup and elixir to enter Ziren's mouth.
"Mei, I fed the medicine!" Lingfeng shouted outside, pleased with the accomplishment.
Unexpectedly, Mei rushed in, unable to contain her laughter, and asked, "How did you feed it?"
It seemed that Mei had come to see Lingfeng's embarrassment.
Seeing Mei smile, Lingfeng pretended to be shy and chuckled lightly while covering her mouth.
Mei was taken aback for a moment before bursting into laughter and squatting down on the floor.
"Ah~~!" Just as Mei was laughing heartily, a groan came from the bed where Ziren lay.
Both of them turned to look and saw Ziren's chest heaving violently, indicating that Ziren was about to wake up.
"Oh no, I forgot something!" Seeing Ziren about to wake up, Lingfeng suddenly exclaimed and pulled Mei out of the room.
Meanwhile, Ziren, in a daze, felt a cool sensation in the abdomen followed by intense pain throughout the body. The bitterness in the mouth was unbearable. In a haze, Ziren heard Lingfeng's startled cry. Just as confusion set in, a rush of blood surged up, and a stream of black toxic blood spewed out of the mouth.
Before long, Lingfeng returned with Mei into the room.
Mei initially wore a puzzled expression, but upon seeing the bed covered in Ziren's black blood, she became furious and nodded at Lingfeng.
Lingfeng stepped forward again, pried open Ziren's mouth, and stuffed a black pill inside.
"Ziren, this is the antidote. Take it, and you'll be fine soon!"
In truth, Ziren had already opened his eyes but was too weak to speak. However, seeing Lingfeng's beaming smile and sensing no malice, he instinctively opened his mouth and swallowed the black pill from Lingfeng's hand.
Lingfeng saw Ziren swallow the pill and immediately flashed a barely noticeable look of triumph.
Ziren coughed violently twice, glaring at Lingfeng with hatred, then looked at Mei and said, "Thank you for saving my life, miss!"
"Ah!" Mei was taken aback and glanced at Lingfeng.
Lingfeng puffed out her cheeks, hands crossed over her chest, and casually replied, "If it weren't for me, you would have been dead long ago!"
However, Ziren ignored Lingfeng and struggled to get up.
"Hey, don't move!" Mei hurriedly said.
Ziren abruptly stopped moving and looked at Mei in confusion.
"I, um..." Mei seemed embarrassed and didn't dare to look at Ziren.
"What I just gave you was the Seven Steps Heartbreak Pill," Lingfeng explained. "If you take seven steps, your meridians will break, and your insides will shatter. So it's better if you don't move!"
"You," Ziren glared angrily at Lingfeng and asked, "Why did you do that?"
"You're so powerful; who knows if I saved you, you might kill me. Besides, you still have a Soul-Devouring Cat!" Lingfeng replied reluctantly.
Mentioning the Soul-Devouring Cat made Ziren's eyes flicker with sorrow, and tears immediately welled up. The long-suppressed pain finally burst forth.
"By the way, how did you end up fighting with those from White Phoenix Mountain? Who is that Hall Master?" Although Lingfeng disliked Ziren greatly, knowing oneself and one's enemy leads to victory in every battle. Ziren had lived in White Phoenix Mountain for so long that she naturally knew the situation there.
Ziren seemed unwilling to answer Lingfeng's question. Lying on the bed and staring at the ceiling for a while, she slowly said, "They killed my Soul-Devouring Cat and consumed its core. That Hall Master is a Demon Cultivator; I don't know his identity."
"They ate the Soul-Devouring Cat's core?" Lingfeng exclaimed in shock. "But the Soul-Devouring Cat is so cunning; how could it be captured so easily?"
"Hmph!" Ziren coldly stared at Lingfeng, his lips trembling as if he held a deep grudge against him. After a moment, he spoke in a low voice, "You injured the Soul-Devouring Cat and then set it on fire, causing its serious injuries that I couldn't heal. That's why White Phoenix Mountain took advantage of the situation and tricked the Soul-Devouring Cat away."
"Uh~!" Lingfeng was at a loss for words; it seemed that the death of the Soul-Devouring Cat was indeed somewhat related to him.
"Lingfeng, didn't you have something to discuss with Ziren? You should hurry; he can't stay here forever!" Mei reminded him from the side.
In fact, Lingfeng had been thinking about asking for the Falling Leaf Technique. However, with Ziren still injured and having lost something dear to him, Lingfeng felt somewhat embarrassed to make the request.
Lingfeng glanced at Mei and then at Ziren, appearing somewhat troubled.
"Speak your mind. Since it fell into your hands, do as you wish!" Ziren said with an air of righteousness, which only made Lingfeng feel more ashamed.
Lingfeng's heart began to race as he awkwardly said, "Actually, you're not a bad person; you just have too much greed. However, I'm not someone who takes advantage of others' misfortunes, so I won't make things difficult for you. It's just that your cultivation is too high, and we have past grievances, so I gave you the Seven Steps Heartbreak Pill as a precaution."
Ziren remained expressionless, his demeanor cold and indifferent.
Lingfeng stuck out his tongue and smiled as he said, "Since you want me to be straightforward, I'll tell you. Actually, I want something from you!"
