Second, Lingfeng woke up, looked around, and saw no sunlight. Being in a cave with only the flickering firelight, he couldn't tell what time it was. Stretching lazily, just as he was about to head outside, a Loyal Minion suddenly entered and bowed, saying, "The Bandit Leader requests you, Hero Lingfeng, to join for breakfast!"
Lingfeng had long harbored dreams of being a Hero. Hearing the Loyal Minion refer to him as Hero brought him some joy, and he casually tossed a few Copper Coins to the Loyal Minion. The Loyal Minion bent down and lowered his head but did not dare to accept.
Lingfeng looked at him sternly and said, "Go ahead and take it; the Bandit Leader won't blame you!"
The Loyal Minion thanked him and led the way.
Upon reaching the hall, Lingfeng saw Bear Brute and Man Pillar sitting at a stone table, closely examining a pearl.
Seeing this, Lingfeng feigned delight and asked, "What are you two brothers so interested in?"
Bear Brute greeted Lingfeng with a smile, saying, "I was just discussing this pearl with my brother Man!"
Lingfeng approached but did not pick up the pearl; he merely glanced at it and remarked, "What's so special about this pearl?"
"I studied this pearl yesterday until midnight but couldn't figure out what kind of pearl it is. It's not jade nor stone. It doesn't melt in fire or break under a giant axe; it's surprisingly hard!" Bear Brute said, puzzled.
"Could it be some kind of treasure?" Lingfeng asked with interest.
Bear Brute shook his head skeptically and replied, "If the White Jade Escort Agency were involved, they would surely come looking for it if it were a treasure. However, last night was calm; none of the brothers saw anyone coming up the mountain!"
Lingfeng felt suspicious and murmured, "That's strange!"
Man Pillar seemed a bit hungry and did not participate in the discussion; he had already started eating.
Bear Brute shook his head but did not dwell on it any longer. He set the pearl aside and said, "Whatever this pearl is, let's go eat!"
Lingfeng nodded in agreement and joined him for breakfast.
After the meal, Bear Brute invited Lingfeng to enjoy the scenery of the mountains and rivers.
Walking between the mountains and waters, Lingfeng was captivated by the unique scenery of this place. He thought to himself that since there was still plenty of time, it would be better to enjoy himself here for a while before setting off later.
Accompanied by the Loyal Minions, the three arrived at a cliff. The cliff was over a thousand feet high, and below it flowed a river. Looking up from above, the river resembled a silver galaxy, winding and endless.
While admiring the view, the boy suddenly blew the Horn, and upon hearing the response of the Crane Beast, he jumped off the cliff.
Lingfeng was startled and thought, why is this boy seeking death? Just as he was about to rush to pull him back, he was blocked by the Bear Brute, who was grinning.
Confused, Lingfeng anxiously asked, "Aren't you this child's master? Why aren't you going to save him?"
"The Child enjoys this thrilling game. When he is about to reach the bottom of the cliff, the Crane Beast will catch him!" Man Pillar said nonchalantly while gazing into the distance.
Lingfeng was half-convinced and was about to look down when suddenly a fierce wind howled above him.
The wind came so abruptly and with such strange direction that Lingfeng found himself unable to use Adapt to the Qi Field. With his footing unsteady, he fell off the cliff.
This happened too suddenly, leaving Lingfeng astonished. It took him a while to react as he thought about the Bear Brute's treachery disguised as goodwill. Just as he was about to curse, he heard a long cry and saw a giant white bird swooping down—it was the Crane Beast.
The Crane Beast flapped its wings gracefully, leaning forward and backward, its sharp beak opening and closing as it made sounds that seemed like cheers.
Lingfeng then understood and smiled, saying, "So you were just playing with me!" With that realization, he felt at ease. He rested his arms under his head and relaxed. After falling for a while, Lingfeng turned to look; the boy was waving at him from below, but right beneath him was the flowing river.
"Since the boy is below me, what do I have to worry about?" Lingfeng thought and stopped being anxious.
Sure enough, the Crane Beast quickly swooped down and caught the boy beneath Lingfeng. Then it hovered in mid-air, carrying Lingfeng on its back.
Although Lingfeng wasn't light in weight, just as he landed on the Crane Beast's back, it suddenly dove downwards, skimming over the river as it flew perilously close to the water.
The child not only showed no fear but instead laughed heartily, seeming to find this a very enjoyable game.
Lingfeng clicked his tongue and rolled his eyes, truly unsure what this guy had in his head.
Crane Beast flew to the cliff and landed on the ground. The Bear Brute hurried over to greet him, clasping his fists in apology, "Brother, please don't take offense. My disciple has a mischievous nature and enjoys playing pranks. However, his teasing means he no longer rejects you!"
Lingfeng smiled and returned the gesture, "Brother Bear, there's no need to mind it. It's just that this Crane Beast not only has strong flying abilities but also possesses some Spell. May I ask what kind of creature it is?"
Bear Brute sighed deeply, suddenly looking a bit sad. "This Crane Beast was originally an ordinary creature, like birds in the sky or fish in the water. Bear Brute shook his head helplessly and said, "You only know one side of the story. Although this Crane Beast has hidden abilities, it also has enemies!"
Lingfeng found it unsurprising and replied, "Naturally, everything in nature exists in balance. It ensures harmony in nature. This Crane Beast, although a spirit beast, having enemies is not surprising!"
"If it were just natural enemies, that would be fine, but..." At this point, Bear Brute's expression suddenly turned fierce as if recalling something he despised.
"That enemy of the Crane Beast is the Hundred Venom Bee from the White Jade Escort Agency!" a young boy suddenly interjected.

However, privately raised Hundred Venom Bees do not consume poisons that counteract each other. A hundred different poisons do not interfere with one another; if any animal is bitten, it will die instantly. Yet those with sufficient skill can protect their vital points for a short time; if they can find an antidote from the beekeeper, they can neutralize the poison of the Hundred Venom Bee.
However, if bitten by privately raised Hundred Venom Bees, it means that the beekeeper intends to kill you. This is because privately raised Hundred Venom Bees are tamed and controlled by their keepers. Moreover, these bees are not spirit beasts or magical creatures; they lack intelligence and will not resist once they form fixed patterns of behavior.
Lingfeng had heard of the infamous name of the Hundred Venom Bee. Knowing now that the enemy of the Crane Beast was indeed the Hundred Venom Bee, he felt some regret. Understanding that these bees belonged to the White Jade Escort Agency, he immediately asked, "Does the White Jade Escort Agency raise Hundred Venom Bees?"
With gritted teeth and a sharp snap of his jawbone, Bear Brute replied bitterly, "Yes! There used to be many Crane Beasts in those mountains. But ever since people here learned about their edibility, the White Jade Escort Agency, seeking huge profits, sent out their Hundred Venom Bees to ruthlessly hunt down the Crane Beasts! Soon after that, they became extinct!"
"Extinct!" A shiver ran through Lingfeng, and looking at the soaring Crane Beast, he could not understand why Bear Brute felt this way.
Bear Brute looked at Lingfeng in confusion and explained, "Years ago, I ventured deep into the mountains in search of the Crane Beast. Unfortunately, the scene of the cranes dancing together no longer exists; all that remains is desolation! I searched the mountains for nearly two months, but I couldn't even find a single feather of the Crane Beast. Just when I was feeling disheartened, I accidentally discovered a Crane Beast egg."
"This egg must be hiding some secret, which is why it wasn't found by the White Jade Escort Agency!" Lingfeng said.
Bear Brute nodded and said, "It is said that anyone who wishes to tame a spirit beast or a strange beast needs to have a destined connection. At that time, when I found this egg, I thought it had no hope of hatching, so I gave it to Child. To my surprise, once the egg was in Child's hands, it began to crack and soon hatched into a cub. The Crane Beast seemed to know its master was talking about it; it let out a long cry and lowered itself to the ground, wrapping its long neck around Bear Brute's neck as if being affectionate.

"Exactly!" Man Pillar said. "Brother Bear loves the Crane Beast, and so does Child. Their genuine feelings touched the Crane Beast, which is why it hatched when it met Child!"
Upon hearing this, Lingfeng felt an immense envy and thought to himself when he would be able to obtain a spirit beast. Even if his Spell skills were lacking, having a spirit beast would give him unparalleled courage.
Lost in thought, Bear Brute turned around and called everyone to return. At this moment, Lingfeng also lost interest in the scenery and followed back.
Upon returning to the cave, he saw that the orb was still on the stone table. Feeling bored, Lingfeng wanted to pick up the orb to play with it. Unexpectedly, just as he touched the orb, it suddenly shimmered with countless rays of light.
Lingfeng was startled and quickly withdrew his hand. He glanced at the others and saw they hadn't noticed this phenomenon; only then did he feel relieved enough to look down at it again.
