Lingfeng's heart trembled; he didn't expect that the Intoxicated Fist had such a technique. He immediately turned around and continued to attack Monkey Head, quickly stepping back two paces and crouching down to execute a sweeping strike.
Monkey Head was unhurried, lightly leaping upward and launching a series of kicks toward Lingfeng's face.
Lingfeng dared not be careless and quickly defended with both hands. Just as Monkey Head's kicks were about to cease, he transformed his palms into fists and struck down heavily at Monkey Head's legs, executing the Shattering Stone Fist technique.
However, although Monkey Head lost his footing, he moved effortlessly, dodging Lingfeng's punches with ease and attempting to wrap his legs around Lingfeng's neck.
"Heh heh!" Lingfeng sneered, quickly flipping over. Although he was in an inverted position, it prevented Monkey Head from wrapping his legs around his neck. At the same time, he exerted force with his hands and sprang up like a rabbit escaping from a hawk, aiming both feet directly at Monkey Head's face.
Though Monkey Head was in mid-air, he was descending. Not expecting his "enemy" to use such a technique, he found himself with no way to escape and had no choice but to flatten his body and crash heavily onto the ground.
Lingfeng could not miss such an opportunity; he immediately transformed his fists into grips and held Monkey Head's neck tightly.
"Monkey Head, you lose!" Lingfeng declared as he pressed his legs down on Monkey Head without loosening his grip.
Monkey Head initially wanted to struggle but found himself pinned down by Lingfeng and unable to move. He could only breathe heavily while lying on the ground. However, upon hearing Lingfeng's words, something seemed to click in his mind; he no longer felt afraid and moved Lingfeng's hands aside with a playful smile. "Lingfeng, it's you!"
Only then did Lingfeng release his grip and remove the mask, revealing a smug expression.
"Weren't you supposed to be at Water Peak? How did you return so quickly?" Monkey Head asked while sitting on the ground with a mischievous grin.
Lingfeng smiled instead of getting angry; he took out the token from his Treasure Bag and waved it in front of Monkey Head's eyes, recounting his experiences at Water Peak.
Seeing the token, Monkey Head's eyes lit up as he reached out to grab it but was dodged by Lingfeng. Lingfeng treated it like a treasure, taking a breath and wiping it on his Robe. "This is a precious item; I put in a lot of effort to obtain it!"
Monkey Head pouted and turned his head away, finally huffing in response. "Come on! If it weren't for me, how would you have gotten this token? How would you have met that beauty Enchanting? Instead of being grateful, you're acting like this. I even considered you a friend!" His tone suggested he felt greatly wronged.
"Don't flatter yourself!" Lingfeng replied sarcastically. "Do you think I don't know your intentions? You sent me to Water Peak out of good will? You just wanted me to embarrass myself!"
Upon hearing Lingfeng's words, Monkey Head froze for a moment; the displeasure on his face vanished instantly as he hurriedly tried to appease him. "Heh heh, you caught me!"
Lingfeng was not really angry; it was just to provoke Monkey Head. Then, he showed the token to Monkey Head. Monkey Head held the token, saliva pooling in his mouth, looking greedy as if it were a signpost leading to the Fairy Spirit Palace.
In the afternoon, Lingfeng and Azure Vine learned a simple Spell. In the evening, they went to the secret chamber as usual to practice their staff techniques.
Lingfeng was very interested in the Spell that could gather light at the Tip of the Sword, so he learned it as well.
The secret chamber had many weapons. Although they were not high-quality, they were sufficient for practice.
There were no lights in the chamber; it relied on Night Pearls for illumination. The light was soft, bright but not hot, making it perfect for Lingfeng's practice.
Lingfeng casually picked up a sword from the corner and began practicing according to the method taught by Azure Vine. First, Lingfeng circulated his True Qi from his Dantian, then quickly released it into the sword. Sure enough, the sword in Lingfeng's hand began to warm up slowly, and a blue glow started to appear on the blade.
Lingfeng was overjoyed but did not dare to be careless. He continuously infused more True Qi into the blade. After a while, light had already appeared at the Tip of the Sword. However, unlike the delicate beauty of Azure Vine's light, it was a diffuse glow, clearly due to insufficient True Qi, preventing the light from condensing and compressing.
Seeing this effect, Lingfeng breathed a sigh of relief and then began to suddenly release the light from the Tip of the Sword.
However, that glow did not spread instantly but slowly released, gradually enveloping an area of about one square meter around him.
"It seems my True Qi is still insufficient!" Although he had already seen results right after starting his cultivation, which made Lingfeng somewhat happy, he had guessed the reason for the poor effect.
But if the Connecting Rod absorbed True Qi, he wondered if it could achieve such an effect as well.
Thinking of this made Lingfeng waver. He casually tossed aside the sword in his hand and then drew out the Connecting Rod, refining it again using the same method as before.
The Connecting Rod, being larger than the sword, naturally had more internal storage space. Lingfeng used twice as much True Qi as before just to make the Connecting Rod warm up.
However, there was still a bit of luck in his heart. If it weren't for the support of the Immortal Peach, along with the previously absorbed True Qi, he probably wouldn't have been able to release any more True Qi at this moment.
Although there wasn't much True Qi in Lingfeng, it was enough to fill up the Connecting Rod.
The Connecting Rod, nourished by True Qi, displayed a black hue that, combined with the blue of True Qi, emitted a faint purple glow. Although the color was dim, it instilled a sense of unease.
Before long, Lingfeng realized that he could no longer channel his True Qi into the Connecting Rod. At that moment, the Connecting Rod seemed like an agitated beast, trembling violently in Lingfeng's hands.
Lingfeng gripped the Connecting Rod tightly and suddenly noticed that the purple hue enveloping it was becoming more intense. Gradually, the entire Connecting Rod appeared to transform into a purple cane.
"Could it be due to the spiritual energy within the Connecting Rod?" Lingfeng understood that although he had released twice as much True Qi into the Connecting Rod as before, it would likely not be enough for it to reach a glowing state.
However, the fact that the Connecting Rod could automatically saturate and emit a purple light suggested only one reason: it was due to the spiritual energy inherent in the Connecting Rod itself.
As Lingfeng had guessed, the Connecting Rod contained a significant amount of spiritual energy. At this moment, the True Qi Lingfeng released had merged with the spiritual energy within the Connecting Rod, as if the energy had integrated into Lingfeng's body; it was merely stored in a different location.
Next, Lingfeng knew what he needed to do. He should release the colors from the Connecting Rod to achieve a state akin to Azure Vine.
Just as Lingfeng abruptly severed the connection between his palm and the Connecting Rod, he saw the purple light on the Connecting Rod suddenly contract. As it shrank, its color deepened until it seemed to revert to the original black of the Connecting Rod.
"Is it disappearing just like that?" Just as Lingfeng found this strange, suddenly, the Connecting Rod trembled violently and then erupted with purple light. Although there was no sound and no harm done, the intensity of that purple was overwhelming.
Lingfeng only caught a glimpse of the light released by the Connecting Rod before it vanished in an instant. What puzzled him was that this intense purple light caused him no harm whatsoever.
Lingfeng felt increasingly Magical and thought that if he could fuse this technique into Suspended Staff Technique, its power might become even greater.
However, after releasing his True Qi twice in quick succession, his Dantian felt somewhat depleted. To avoid unnecessary harm, Lingfeng decided to postpone this idea for later.
Then, Lingfeng once again focused on Suspended Staff Technique.
To his surprise, this time the power of Suspended Staff Technique was significantly stronger than before. With each movement of his technique, he could feel the air around him shattering; the rapid whooshing sound was something Lingfeng had never encountered before.
Lingfeng was overjoyed; he hadn't expected to inadvertently elevate his mastery of Suspended Staff Technique to a new level.
Actually, Lingfeng did not know that his Suspended Staff Technique could be enhanced like this. This was because the spiritual energy within the Connecting Rod had already merged with Lingfeng's True Qi. Although the level of spiritual energy was diminished, it could now be controlled by Lingfeng, allowing him to perform at a normal level. However, if Lingfeng's cultivation were to increase further, its power would be unimaginable.
That morning, Lingfeng did not exercise. The improvement in his abilities from the previous night had made him so excited that he could hardly sleep. As soon as he got up, Lingfeng took out the token for Water Peak. Of course, he wanted to go to Water Peak early—not for any other reason but to see Enchanting.
Every morning, there would be dedicated personnel guarding the peak of Water Peak. After showing his token, Lingfeng swaggered into Water Peak.
Out of courtesy, Lingfeng first went to the main hall of Water Peak because the Peak Master, Water Demon, practiced there every morning. To Lingfeng's delight, he found that the disciples of Water Peak also practiced Spell in the hall every morning.
After a night, the ice sculptures in the courtyard had melted. However, some new ice sculptures had begun to take shape again. Through these ice sculptures, Lingfeng could see a white beam of light connecting to the water in the courtyard; it must have been the spiritual energy used to cast the Spell.
Sure enough, after a while, the end of that white beam gradually formed an ice sculpture.
Without thinking much, Lingfeng hurried into the hall and happened to see Enchanting casting a Spell. The white beam of light was emanating from her hand; although thin and small, the ice sculpture she created was enough to make Lingfeng overjoyed.
"Enchanting, I've come to find you!" Lingfeng shouted excitedly towards the hall.
The female disciples turned around and saw Lingfeng grinning at the entrance.
However, Lingfeng's shout distracted Enchanting, causing the white beam in her hand to suddenly vanish and leaving only half-formed ice sculptures in the courtyard.
"Oh, it's Lingfeng! You've come so early!" Water Demon said with a smile. She then waved her hand, and a beam of spiritual light flew out from her sleeve, instantly restoring Enchanting's ice sculpture to perfection.
