Lingfeng and Zhi Lian were both stunned. It seemed that neither of them had blinked when the locust suddenly vanished into thin air, only to reappear right in front of them.
"Teleportation technique! This guy can actually use teleportation!" Lingfeng exclaimed in shock.
The Locust King did not move but stared intently at Lingfeng and Zhi Lian, likely wary of the flames surrounding them.
"What should we do?" Lingfeng asked, holding the Bagua Sword but suddenly unsure of how to use it. He turned to Zhi Lian for help.
Zhi Lian looked at Lingfeng in disbelief and hurriedly said, "Come on, Shixu, you're the one here to subdue the demon!"
"Right!" Lingfeng nodded and with a whoosh, he shot up into the air, disappearing without a trace.
Zhi Lian stayed within the red protective barrier, too afraid to move. She looked up, searching for Lingfeng, unsure of what he was up to.
Two seconds later, an exaggerated shout echoed as a figure dove down from above, aiming for the head of the Locust King. The Locust King remained calm, watching as Lingfeng exited the range of the red light. Suddenly, its wings spread wide and it shot upwards like a rocket.
"Is it trying to take us both down with it?!" A string of question marks appeared in Zhi Lian's mind.
"Oh my gosh!" Lingfeng had no idea what the Locust King was planning; he only knew that countless locusts had surrounded him. After finally clearing a small space, he realized that the Locust King was flying straight towards him.
Just as the locust's head was about to collide with Lingfeng's sword tip, he suddenly extended his left hand from his robe. A fiery red glow subtly emerged alongside his movement.
The Locust King was momentarily stunned, struggling against its momentum as it dove down but continued to rise instead.
The surrounding locusts scattered in disarray. Seizing the opportunity, Lingfeng swiftly struck several times with his sword. A foul smell erupted as he severed most of the Locust King's tail. Black blood gushed out, revealing that it was indeed cow's blood being consumed.
Lingfeng felt a wave of nausea and almost collapsed to the ground.
Zhi Lian fanned her nose and moved away. However, a green locust's intestine fell unceremoniously onto Zhi Lian's shoulder, along with a pool of foul-smelling cow's blood. Immediately after, Zhi Lian could be heard retching.
Lingfeng secretly made a face and turned his attention to Locust King.
Having lost half of its tail, Locust King also lost the ability to control its direction. It could only spin in circles like a headless fly.
Seeing Locust King's pathetic state, Lingfeng burst into laughter. To him, this locust was truly amusing.
Unexpectedly, Locust King suddenly stopped spinning and fixed its gaze on Lingfeng. Although its red eyes showed no expression, they sent a chill down Lingfeng's spine.
Sure enough, Locust King's eyes began to swirl, resembling two fiercely burning furnaces. Then, two intense fireballs shot out from Locust King's eyes, like marbles doused in gasoline.
Lingfeng was momentarily stunned before disdainfully saying, "Do you think you're a marble superhero?" He then attempted to block the two fireballs with his Bagua Sword. With a loud bang, the red fireballs exploded upon hitting the Bagua Sword.
“Shixu!” Zhi Lian shouted anxiously at Lingfeng, caught off guard by the sudden explosion.
“Cough cough...” A series of coughs emerged from the thick smoke, followed by a figure stepping out—a “blackened” Lingfeng, with blackened nose, eyes, and lips from the blast.
Stumbling out of the smoke, Lingfeng held a Spirit Talisman that had lost its fiery glow. Zhi Lian, feeling relieved, hurried over to Lingfeng.
“Shixu, are you okay?” Zhi Lian asked with concern. If anything happened to Lingfeng, not only would Azure Vine not forgive her, but even the sect leader might blame her as well.
Lingfeng weakly waved his hand, exhaling smoke as he said, "It's fine, it's fine. Luckily, this locust's magic isn't very strong; otherwise, you would be having braised human meat!"
Seeing Lingfeng's demeanor, Zhi Lian couldn't help but laugh and cry at the same time. He never expected that this small child would have such strong willpower. If it were an ordinary child of the same age, they would have probably been crying for their mother by now.
In reality, it wasn't as Lingfeng had said; what saved him was the Bagua Sword in his hand. Although the Bagua Sword was a weapon of a low-ranking disciple from the Demon Suppression Sect, it had undergone a magical forging process. Just moments ago, Lingfeng had used the Bagua Sword to block the Locust King's attack, and the two fireballs had been neutralized by the magic on the sword. At this point, the Bagua Sword in Lingfeng's hand had already turned into a charred piece of scrap metal.
Zhi Lian had already guessed the reason why Lingfeng was unharmed and couldn't help but breathe a sigh of relief.
"What should we do next? Should I take care of it?" Zhi Lian asked tentatively. He truly didn't dare to let Lingfeng take any risks; if he got hurt, he might still receive some decent treatment. But if Lingfeng got hurt, that would be a different story.
"No need, no need! I can handle it myself. I refuse to believe it can still shoot fireballs," Lingfeng said without a hint of fear; instead, he was fueled by determination. Ignoring Zhi Lian's attempts to stop him, he snatched Zhi Lian's Bagua Sword, removed the Spirit Talisman, and charged forward.
The Locust King had lost its ability to control its direction and could only flap its wings wildly. Its broken tail was desperately trying to lift up, as if each time it landed it had to endure intense pain, emitting hissing sounds as threats.
Lingfeng seized upon the Locust King's weakness; his body turned pitch black, making him hard to detect in the darkness. Just moments ago he was in front of the Locust King, and now he appeared behind it in an instant.
The Locust King anxiously twisted its body and occasionally shot out two fireballs. Each fireball that was launched dimmed slightly and became weaker, likely due to the Locust King's diminishing magic. However, wherever the fireballs landed, they caused loud explosions and bursts of flames.
The surroundings were illuminated by the flames, leaving Lingfeng with nowhere to hide. With no other choice, he continuously used his Lightness Skill to stab at the Locust King's wings and vulnerable abdomen.
At this moment, the Locust King resembled a mouse being toyed with; it wouldn't be eaten immediately but would be played with until death.
Lingfeng once again found himself behind the Locust King, panting heavily as the Bagua Sword in his hand trembled along with his shaking hands.
"No way," Lingfeng thought, "Although this can consume his magic power, it will also drain my stamina!" After several uses of the Lightness Skill, Lingfeng felt exhausted and decided to end the battle quickly.
However, the main organs of the locust were not in its abdomen, as the Locust King's abdomen had already been pierced by Lingfeng. Yet, the Locust King's head was incredibly hard, and the Bagua Sword couldn't penetrate it at all.
"Perhaps the strongest point is also the weakest point." Lingfeng set his sights on the Locust King's eyes, thinking, "I have to give it a try!"
Lingfeng used the Lightness Skill again and easily reached the back of the locust. Before the Locust King could turn around to attack, Lingfeng leaped into the air and landed on the Locust King's wings.
Before Lingfeng could steady himself, a sharp pain shot up from beneath his feet. He instinctively looked down and saw a streak of blood appearing on the locust's wing. Its sharp wings had actually pierced through Lingfeng's shoe.
"Oh no!" Lingfeng exclaimed in shock, but he couldn't use force to activate the Lightness Skill under his feet. If he pushed down hard now, his feet might get pierced. He had no choice but to squeeze his feet together and stand on the Locust King's back.
The locust was furious to have an enemy riding on its back. It jumped up and down wildly, completely ignoring the pain in its tail and abdomen.
Lingfeng lay flat on the locust's back, trying hard to stabilize himself. Finally, as the Locust King jumped again, Lingfeng endured the pain under his feet and stood on the Locust King's neck like a king.
The Bagua Sword whistled in Lingfeng's hand as a cold light flashed. The Locust King's red eyes flickered like a red bulb losing power before finally turning black. Soon after, two eyeballs dropped to the ground. The protruding eyes were neatly severed by Lingfeng.
In mid-air, the locust fell like a kite with a broken string, crashing heavily to the ground. Lingfeng was thrown aside and lay motionless.
"Shixu! Shixu!" Everything returned to normal as scattered cricket sounds emerged, likely celebrating the defeat of the tyrannical locust. However, Zhi Lian was burning with anxiety. "Shixu, how are you? You can't have any accidents; I don't want to be punished!"
After a while, Lingfeng groaned twice and impatiently said, "I'm so tired; let me rest for a bit!"
"Hahaha..." Hearing Lingfeng's voice, Zhi Lian relaxed from her tense mood, leaning back and lying down on the ground.
The Locust King had been defeated, leaving behind a field of debris. The foul smell in the air gradually dissipated, with only scattered sparks still burning.
Lingfeng's foot was injured, but it was not serious. After taking a Jade Dew Protection Pill, he quickly recovered.
Although the matter was resolved, Lingfeng found it strange that the two Underworld Cats he had released made no sound. Before heading back to the mountain, Lingfeng took a look at the hill and found only remnants of ashes on the ground. Thus, he vaguely guessed that the Underworld Cats were silent because his magical power was insufficient; they had vanished before the locusts could move.
In the morning, a middle-aged man was unsure how to handle the Locust King's corpse and asked Lingfeng, who was about to leave.
Lingfeng thought for a moment and said, "Let's burn it! That way it's convenient, and then we can bury the burned remains; that's the safest option."
"Shixu, why don't we help him out?" Zhi Lian suggested.
Lingfeng had no objections, so he set fire to the Locust King's corpse. Unexpectedly, while dealing with the remains, Lingfeng discovered two sickle-shaped weapons among the ashes.
They were sickles but differed significantly from ordinary ones. These two sickles were green and had many different backward hooks on their handles, incredibly sharp.
"It seems like the wings of the Locust King," Lingfeng recalled being pierced by its wings during the night and thought that might be what they were.
