Stepping into this familiar yet unfamiliar land, the scene before him left him somewhat entranced.
As far as the eye could see, a vast expanse of white bone sea stretched to the horizon, with scattered bones of various sizes, some as large as dragons, others as small as mice, as if recounting the joys and sorrows of countless creatures. A few scattered skulls wandered aimlessly in the bone sea, their hollow eye sockets seeming to still hold the confusion and unwillingness of their past lives.
And in the farthest reaches of that view, several bone trees stand tall, their twisted branches looming like the claws of demons from hell, attempting to snatch the soul of anyone who enters this place. The air is filled with a pungent smell of sulfur, a rare pleasure for the undead and demons in hell.
"Ah, long time no see. My domain is still so vibrant, even the air is sweet," Brian sighed softly, his voice echoing in this vast bone sea, tinged with the joy of reunion after a long absence.
However, this joy was quickly interrupted. A group of crows suddenly flew across the sky, cawing loudly, and brazenly snatched away a wandering Undead skull right in front of Brian. These crows seemed ordinary, but possessed remarkable power, effortlessly lifting the skull and disappearing into the distant horizon.
Brian's face instantly darkened. skull Although only the lowest level unit in hell, it was still a part of his territory, his underling. Now, these crows were openly looting in front of him, undoubtedly slapping his face.
"These crows simply don't put me in their eyes. I'm going to teach them a lesson." Brian said angrily.
On the side, Karl spoke lightly, "Master, do you need me to take action? I can kill them all." As an assassin, he was already accustomed to the struggle between life and death, and had long been numb to killing.
However, Brian shook his head, "No, they can openly take them away in front of me, which means they don't take me seriously. They must have strength beyond mine. We cannot act recklessly."
He took a deep breath, trying to calm the anger in his heart. Then he turned to Carter and Karl: "Let's hide first and see what those crows are up to."
So the three of them cautiously followed the crows' trail, sneaking all the way to their nest. During this process, Brian's heart was filled with doubt and vigilance. He didn't know what these crows were up to, nor did he know if there were bigger secrets hidden behind them.
The crows seemed unaware of their pursuit, flying straight ahead in a certain direction. Brian and the other two followed closely behind, not daring to slack off.
Suddenly, Karl stopped in his tracks and whispered, "Stop."
"What's wrong?" Carter asked.
Karl slowly spoke, "Something's not right here, we need to be careful."
They don't understand hell, nor have they been here, only heard about it in books or oral legends. So Carter didn't notice anything unusual at all.
But as an assassin, Karl possesses extraordinary keen senses. Even though he didn't detect anything unusual, his intuition told him that something was off, and he promptly called a halt to their actions.
Brian squinted his eyes and gazed at the gradually emerging scene ahead. The hell that was once filled with a gloomy atmosphere and scattered with countless white bones now revealed a ground dotted with stars. On this ground, twisted bone trees rose from the earth, their branches and twigs resembling sharp claws, giving off an eerie and terrifying feeling.
At the top of each bone tree, several crows were perched. These crows were unlike ordinary ones, with blood-red eyes as if they could see into one's soul. They occasionally emitted a piercing caw, echoing in this silent hell, sending shivers down one's spine.
However, what made Brian most palpitate with fear was the largest bone tree in the bone tree grove. Each of its branches was as thick as an average person's waist, twisted and grotesque. In the center of the bone tree, a human face had actually grown, a terrifying and hideous face that seemed to be slowly awakening, as if about to become sentient.
A huge bird stood on top of the largest bone tree, and not a single crow dared to land beside it.
raven, these hellish beasts, thrive by feeding on deathly energy. When facing them one-on-one, they may not be so terrifying, even the skull soldiers can hold their own against them. However, once they gather in groups, their power surges like a raging undercurrent, far from being as simple as adding one and one. They seem to be able to merge with each other, share abilities, and become even more terrifying.
One layer of hell is completely occupied by raven. Their leader is a powerful being who can effortlessly traverse different worlds and sees the boundary between realms as nothing.
Brian gazed at the massive and majestic bird in the middle, feeling a strong sense of crisis welling up in his heart. He took a deep breath and said to Karl and Carter in a deep voice, "That is Ling Jiu, capable of freely switching between physical and spiritual forms, and even able to silently take lives by infiltrating the dreams of enemies."
"This is really tricky now." Brian furrowed his brow, filled with worry. "Facing a group of ravens or Ling Jiu, we still have a fighting chance. But if they join forces, we may struggle to resist."
"So powerful, even more so than my Shadow Sneak." Karl couldn't help but speak out. He thought to himself, if he encountered this kind of creature, he definitely wouldn't be able to beat it.
Truly worthy of being the hell that terrifies many worlds in the universe. He had just arrived in hell and already encountered such a formidable opponent.
And Carter was even more unwilling, "With this group of crows, I could have taken care of them in minutes when I was alive."
He was a holy warrior in his lifetime (although what he did wasn't very holy), and his holy power had double the killing effect on creatures from hell and Undead.
Unfortunately, he has already been transformed by Brian into an undead knight without a mount. Not to mention fighting against the raven group, he can't even defeat Brian.
Ling Jiu is obviously the leader of the raven group, with extraordinary intelligence and strength. If it commands the raven group to launch a fierce attack while it waits for an opportunity to ambush, they will have almost no chance of winning.
Brian is filled with anxiety and unease. These monsters are right next to his territory, powerful, and could pose a threat to him at any time. Moreover, they often come to capture his skull soldiers, which gives him even more of a headache.
The strength of Lich Lord partly comes from the vastness of his territory, as it receives gifts from hell; but more importantly, it's from his army of Undead, each of whom dedicates a portion of their power to their master. If he disregards the life and death of his subordinates, he can even directly plunder their abilities.
Brian thought to himself, "If one day, these monsters were to capture all my soldiers and invade my territory, then I would have nothing left and would no longer be the Lich Lord."
With this in mind, Brian's gaze became determined. For the sake of his territory and his followers, he must eradicate these monsters. Direct confrontation may not be enough, but he must find a way to outsmart them.
"I must calm down and think, find their weaknesses," Brian said to himself, "Only in this way can I defeat them, protect my territory and my men."
After a moment of contemplation, Brian was still at a loss, feeling a surge of anxiety. He turned to Karl and Carter, hoping they could offer some constructive suggestions.
"We must eradicate those evil beasts, do you have any good suggestions?" Brian asked urgently.
"I can use shadow stealth to quietly approach Ling Jiu and deliver a fatal blow," Karl said coldly. "Once Ling Jiu is dead, the raven flock will lose its leader, and then we can defeat them one by one and surely win."
As a professional assassin, assassination is his only choice, and he seems to have already envisioned the scene of successfully assassinating Ling Jiu.
However, Brian shook his head and rejected Karl's idea: "Sneaking in the shadows is a good skill, but your means of attack are too single-minded to effectively harm Ling Jiu. Once we fail, we will be trapped and in trouble."
Carter saw Brian reject Karl's suggestion and proposed his own idea: "Master, why don't you go back and gather the Undead army to launch a direct attack on them?"
Brian almost couldn't resist tapping Carter's head when he heard this: "What are you thinking? Our current Undead army is not enough to confront them. Besides, there are not many usable skull soldiers left in my territory."
He sighed and continued, "Originally, my territory was quite large, but it was messed up by that holy knight. Almost all of my men have run away, and now all that's left are some automatically respawning skull soldiers. And, I had taken a group to the human world before, but a large number of them were captured by raven. Our current situation is really not good."
Just as they were at a loss, Brian suddenly brightened up, "But, the two of your plans can be combined and tried together."
However, at that moment, a piercing "croak, croak, croak" broke their contemplation. A group of ravens flew towards their hiding place, clearly having discovered their trail.
"Oh no, we've been spotted, let's go!" Karl quickly used the shadows to stealthily lead Brian and Carter away from the scene.
Brian then, before leaving, quickly summoned a Skeleton Soldier using his Lich Lord identity. This Skeleton Soldier looked a bit clumsy, unable to distinguish its left and right feet, and was spinning in place.
When the ravens arrived at the scene, they only saw this lonely Skeleton Soldier, and assumed it was the "creature" that had just made a commotion here. Without hesitation, they packed it up and took it away.
Brian watched the ravens fly away into the distance, feeling secretly relieved: "It's a good thing we left in time, otherwise it would have been really troublesome."
