Demon Coffin, Demon Coffin, after all, it is still a coffin. What lies within the Demon Coffin should not be anything like fresh seafood.
At the peak of Cold Jade Mountain, there lies a corpse!
I have seen many corpses; even if I were to dissect one while eating, it would not affect my appetite in the slightest. (I once spent an entire night at a funeral home watching The Walking Dead and ended up feeling hungry.)
However, there is a saying: qualitative changes arise from quantitative changes. As long as the corpse is large enough, I will still be shocked.
For instance, if the corpse is larger than those in a funeral home, I would wonder how much it would cost for cremation. No wonder in ancient times, most burials were done in the ground due to weight!
This corpse should be from the Ancient Era. Besides being enormous, it is surrounded by a blazing flame. The sun that I saw earlier with Shaoming was actually the brilliance emitted by this corpse!
This is quite terrifying; just a corpse can compete with the sun's radiance!
Due to the blinding nature of the flame, Shaoming and I could not clearly see what lay within; the only confirmation we had that it was indeed a corpse was the faint smell of decay in the air.
“Shaoming, do you want to go in with me?” I asked, looking at the flame. Although it was dazzling, its temperature should not be too extreme; my Azure Lotus Flame should be able to withstand it.
“Of course,” Shaoming replied simply.
A surge of magical energy erupted from my Dantian, enveloping both me and Shaoming. At the same time, a wisp of light Azure flame emerged and ignited this magical energy.
As long as it is a relatively advanced flame, it generally possesses unique characteristics.
For example, Red Boy’s True Fire has the property of igniting all things in the world, including air and water. The Golden Crow’s Sun True Fire is one of the most domineering flames and can even ignite other flames of equal rank!
The Yin Fire that I specialize in also has its own characteristics; Yang Fire ignites upon encountering evil and only burns under sunlight. In contrast, Yin Fire is more gentle, adept at corrosion, with a low temperature, but once something is burned by Yin Fire, it leaves no residue.
My Azure Lotus Flame is no exception.
Currently, the characteristic of the Azure Lotus Flame lies in its inclusiveness. Any Taoist Arts can perfectly combine with this flame, producing remarkable lethality. Moreover, the Azure Lotus Flame does not reject other flames.
The Azure Lotus Flame itself is a relatively gentle flame, with a temperature that should be at a moderate level compared to similar flames. However, its ability to merge with other flames can compensate for some of its shortcomings.
Additionally, the effect of the Azure Lotus Flame merging with other flames is passive! This means that as long as I do not wish for the Azure Lotus Flame to merge with other flames, it will completely repel them from the Azure Lotus Flame!
Because of this, I can use the Azure Lotus Flame to form a protective barrier of fire without worrying about being burned by external flames.
"This flame looks quite appealing," I said as I entered the dazzling fire and felt its various aspects.
When evaluating a flame, there are generally several aspects to consider. First is temperature, which is very important. Even flames like Yin Fire, which are not known for their temperature, have temperatures that far exceed those of ordinary flames.
Typically, high-temperature flames have an additional effect: explosiveness. This is the ability to instantly reduce things to ashes. A representative of explosive flames is the previously mentioned Sun True Fire.
The second aspect is combustibility.
Some flames can only burn under specific conditions, while others can ignore all burning conditions and burn all substances unconditionally, such as True Fire.
The final aspect is the characteristics of the flame.
If a flame possesses a unique characteristic, it can even overshadow the first two aspects. For example, Wisdom Fire from Buddhism!
Wisdom Fire is a level above my Azure Lotus Flame but falls half a level below True Fire and Sun True Fire. It is not a true flame but rather the inner fire ignited when one lights a green lamp in Buddhism. The uniqueness of Wisdom Fire lies in that those who possess it can often see through this worldly existence, and seeing through the world is the first step to becoming enlightened.
In summary, I observed this dazzling flame from these aspects.
Its temperature is not particularly high; it may even be slightly inferior to that of Yin Fire. Additionally, it has likely been burning here for quite some time, as even the Cold Jade beneath it has only been heated up, indicating that its combustibility is not very high. As for the burning duration, it could be that the Demon Corpse was extremely terrifying in life!
As for its characteristics, at least I do not currently sense any particular traits in this flame.
Aside from being dazzling, there is nothing praiseworthy about this flame! That's why I say this flame only looks good.
"Master, I think it's better if you don't jump to conclusions so early," Shaoming said as she shifted on my back to a more comfortable position.
"Why? Do you recognize this flame?" I asked curiously. After all, Shaoming is from the demon clan, and she might have seen this kind of flame before.
"A flame that could be mistaken for the sun, how could it possibly be an ordinary thing?" Shaoming analyzed reasonably. "Moreover, we are still on the outskirts of this flame!"
"That's true. Let's wait until we get closer to that corpse before making a conclusion. However, this flame should be no match for my Azure Lotus Flame," I boasted confidently.
"This is your flame?" Shaoming exclaimed in surprise. "Master, you ignited your Heart Fire?"
"Haven't I mentioned it to you? Well, we have been quite busy lately," I replied. "When I saved you, I swallowed Pixiu Blood without realizing it, and suddenly it ignited."
If it weren't for those Three Drops of Essence Blood, I wouldn't know when I would be able to ignite my Heart Fire.
Now, Shaoming and I were getting very close to the Demon Corpse lying on the mountaintop, and we could even roughly make out its shape.
"Three Purities Edict, Daoist Law of Correct Origin! Spiritual Sight!"
"Did you see anything, Master?"
"No, it seems something is blocking my Spiritual Sight. I can only see a rough shape; it looks like a bird."
"A bird?"
"Yes, but this bird has a very strange beak—it's quite large."
"A big-beaked bird? And surrounded by flames?" Shaoming pondered for a moment. "Master, we might be encountering something extraordinary this time."
"Do you know what that is?"
"A little, but I'm not quite sure. Master, can you see the bird's feet?"
"I can't see them; it's lying down," I replied helplessly.
As I got closer to the Demon Corpse, I suddenly felt the temperature around me rise significantly, and the Azure Lotus Flame began to show signs of struggling.
"Merge!" I focused my intent, merging the edges of the Azure Lotus Flame with the flames outside. This way, I wouldn't have to worry about my flame being unable to withstand the temperature of the external fire.
"We're here." Before long, Shaoming and I stood before the massive Demon Corpse.
The Demon Corpse appeared as if it were cast from gold, radiating a golden glow. Its size was enormous, comparable to the Cold Jade Mountain beneath our feet.
"Just as I thought." Shaoming examined the Demon Corpse. "Master, I think I may have figured out this corpse's identity."
"Oh? Who is it? It wouldn't be related to the Golden Peng, would it?"
"In a sense, its status is even more noble than that of the Golden Peng Ancestor," Shaoming said.
Noble? So this corpse's status is higher than that of the Golden-Winged Peng? Oh my, the Golden-Winged Peng? That's Buddha's uncle! His father is the Golden Crow, and his sister is the Peacock Bodhisattva! There are only a few avian deities with higher status than him.
The Golden Crow and Peacock Bodhisattva should be impossible. Kunpeng? That’s a Demon Master! These beings are all much stronger than the Golden-Winged Peng; it shouldn't be...
It uses flames, and those flames are very dazzling. Right, earlier Shaoming specifically asked me how many feet it had; its status is higher than that of the Golden-Winged Peng, but its strength may not necessarily surpass that of the Golden-Winged Peng.
With so many conditions laid out, the answer seems quite obvious.
"Are you the Golden Crow?" I asked somewhat uncertainly.
"It should be," Shaoming replied.
Should? What does it mean to should? Is this something that can be considered a should?
Golden Crow! This is definitely Golden Crow!
Some people might not fully understand what Golden Crow is. Golden Crow is probably the most unfortunate second-generation official, without exception. The father of Golden Crow is the emperor of Ancient Court, also known as Eastern Emperor Taiyi!
Eastern Emperor Taiyi, his true form is a Great Sun Golden Crow.
He was born from the Fire Elemental Spirit (the Great Sun Golden Crow) among the Four Great Chaos Primordial Spirits, absorbing immeasurable Merit and merging with the other three primordial spirits. His identity is extremely noble, and his status is sacred, enjoying the most esteemed and exalted Nine Supreme Fate. He possesses the unparalleled ability to be reborn in the world even after his body is destroyed and his Primordial Spirit dissipates.
The Great Sun Golden Crow is a deity of the Dao, born from the primordial chaos. Although it appears in the form of a Bird, it does not belong to the category of Birds. (The above information is from Baidu)
However, as the son of an emperor, Golden Crow does not have many related legends. The only relatively famous story would be Hou Yi Shoots the Suns.
As a second-generation official, the Golden Crows not only did not forcibly take women from the common people, nor did they engage in reckless driving or accidents; they didn't even use their father's privileges to go out and enjoy a trip with their siblings before being shot down by Hou Yi.
It must be said, it truly is quite unfortunate.
However, is this corpse before us really what we suspect to be Golden Crow?
