In the darkness, faint sounds began to emerge, and those with experience knew that these were the noises made by animals within the Tomb.
"Jingle~ jingle~" Among the five of us, a clear ringing sound echoed.
The bell was tied to Xia Liyi's ankle; she ultimately decided to come along.
I had thought she had fallen into the trap I set, but it turned out her schemes were deeper than mine.
Wasn't I supposed to just have her use any Taoist Arts to pass? Unfortunately, I overlooked one detail: didn't I have those Yellow Talismans that even ordinary people could activate? I had given a few to the Earthwalkers earlier, and later during the trial in the space, just in case, I also gave Xia Liyi a few for self-defense.
Xia Liyi used those Yellow Talismans to outsmart me; she drew a flame in the air with one of the Yellow Talismans I had already prepared, and her cost was merely a drop of blood.
This was awkward. After all, I only needed Xia Liyi to cast one Spell for me to take her along. She fulfilled her promise; what about me?
Well, once a word is spoken, it is hard to retract. I made a request, and she indeed fulfilled it. If I were to go back on my word now, it would be truly embarrassing.
Having dug my own pit, even if I buried myself in it, I would have to cry while being buried alive. With an additional Xia Liyi, my pressure increased significantly.
Zhang Fan and Shaoming could at most ensure their own safety for now, while I wasn't very clear about Li Su's background. Therefore, the responsibility of protecting Xia Liyi ultimately fell on me.
However, we couldn't change our formation. Shaoming was the only demon among us; if something happened ahead involving Shaoming, she could discuss it with me promptly if she followed closely behind. If Xia Liyi were behind me instead, aside from making a few jokes to lighten the mood, she would be of no help at all.
So we devised a compromise: we let Xia Liyi walk right in the middle of the group with a bell tied to her foot so we could always know her position.
If an unexpected incident occurred, Zhang Fan and Li Su would be right behind Xia Liyi, preventing her from immediately confronting danger. With this buffer in place, I could protect Xia Liyi.

We moved quickly forward and I confirmed that here there wouldn't be any of the shifting situations we encountered in the previous tomb passage. However, in this environment, the atmosphere inevitably felt quite oppressive; after all, aside from Xia Liyi, it was our first time entering a tomb. Zombie Ba didn't count; that was a sealed area.
Unlike the previous tomb passage, this time we entered a very dry passage that hardly felt like it had been buried underground for thousands of years.
"Let's get through in one go; there shouldn't be any danger in this tomb passage." I raised a ball of Azure magic with my left hand, relying on its faint light to see clearly along the path in the tomb passage.
The flashlight was no longer functional, and using fire for illumination might ignite the gases within the tomb, potentially causing an explosion. However, light generated by magic posed no such concerns, and in case of any trouble, I could respond quickly with my magical power.
"It's better to be cautious," Shaoming suggested. "We should use something to scout ahead."
"That's simple," I replied casually. At the same time, I pulled out a wooden sword from the Seed Bag and wrapped it in magical energy.
"Go!" I flicked my fingers, controlling the wooden sword to fly forward.
The magical light on the wooden sword was insufficient to illuminate the path ahead, but that was fine; I only needed to confirm that there were no dangers in front.
"Dang!!!" The Flying Sword flew a short distance before suddenly colliding with something, bouncing back with a crisp sound of metal striking metal.
"There's something there," I analyzed upon hearing the sound. "It's made of bronze."
Bronze was a common object found in tombs, so I wasn't particularly surprised.
"Let's go take a look," Shaoming said. "It might be a mechanism of this tomb."
"Stay put, you and Li Su. I'll go with Shaoming," I instructed, knowing Xia Liyi wouldn't listen to me anyway.
Sure enough, Xia Liyi followed along.
I picked up the wooden sword from the ground and found that it had actually broken in two. Although it was just a wooden sword, it was crafted from hardwood that I had personally selected, made from redwood on the outer layer.
Redwood takes ten years to grow to the thickness of a bowl, making it very hard; ordinary saws cannot cut through redwood. Yet this wooden sword had broken into two pieces from just one impact.
"This isn't ordinary bronze," Shaoming said as he gently tapped on the object. "It's bronze forged from the bones of powerful demon clan warriors combined with molten copper and special Evil Techniques."
"What makes this bronze special?" I asked.
"You know that the strength of demon clans lies in their bloodlines and essence. Many powerful demons do not decay after death. This creates a very troublesome problem."
“Corpse Transformation?”
“Yes, it is Corpse Transformation, and it's not just any ordinary Corpse Transformation,” Shaoming explained. “The corpses of powerful demon clan members emit demonic energy, so there is almost a hundred percent chance of Corpse Transformation. Zombies can actually be considered part of the demon clan since they are demons formed from corpses.”
“This type of Corpse Transformation carries not only Yin Qi but also this demonic energy, and it can even utilize the supernatural abilities of the powerful demon before their death. “You have it easy,” I remarked. “So how should this so-called Demon Coffin be handled?”
“Generally speaking, any demon that can lie in a Demon Coffin must be a powerful one, at least at the level of White Bone Spirit. Moreover, the demonic energy and bloodline of those strong ones do not actually disappear; they are accumulated within the Demon Coffin. In fact, Demon Coffins have long been obsolete; they only occasionally appear in ancient demon ruins due to their side effects.”
“Side effects?”
With what Shaoming said, the practicality of the Demon Coffin seems quite strong; why would it be obsolete?
“As demonic energy and bloodlines accumulate within the Demon Coffin, over time, it will merge with those energies and bloodlines—essentially turning into a demon itself!”
“Everything in existence can cultivate through Earth Spirit Energy, even a blade of grass or a piece of dead wood. However, these all require opportunities. For the Demon Coffin, those accumulated demonic energies and bloodlines represent opportunities.”
“And due to years spent alongside corpses, once a Demon Coffin transforms into a demon, it will be filled with malevolent energy. A typical Demon Coffin does not possess its own consciousness but needs continuous sources of demonic power and bloodlines to survive. There are actually quite a few demon clans that ended up perishing because they nurtured a Demon Coffin!”
"Is it that terrifying?" I exclaimed. Indeed, something that has absorbed the demonic energy and bloodlines of countless deceased powerful beings, once it becomes a demon, is certainly not going to be benign.
"The Demon Coffin should still be in a dormant state, so it looks like this. We should best avoid it."
"That might be difficult." I looked up at the Demon Coffin, my eyes faintly flickering with divine fire.

What we see now is only a part of the Demon Coffin, a very small part! The entire Demon Coffin is at least as large as an ordinary teaching building, only it's lying horizontally.
What we are seeing is merely a surface; this surface acts like a copper wall blocking the tomb passage, leaving no visible exit. Since we can't see beyond it, we assumed that the Demon Coffin wouldn't be too large. However, when I used Spiritual Sight to observe, I discovered this terrifying fact.
"Who is lying inside this thing?" I couldn't help but exclaim. "It's even bigger than a Dinosaur!"
I don't know whether the Demon Coffin or the tomb passage came first, but in any case, this tomb passage has now been blocked by the Demon Coffin. There is no way to proceed.
"Should we retreat? After all, there's no way forward," I suggested.
"That might not be possible," Shaoming replied.
"Why not?"
"This Demon Coffin is alive."
