I watched helplessly as Pixiu rolled to the ground, unable to muster the strength to rise.
All my magical energy was concentrated on healing the penetrating wound on my neck and combating the toxins coursing through my body. Although I had managed to control the toxins, their paralyzing effects still lingered.
Despite its relatively weak attack power, Pixiu was an ancient divine beast that had survived to this day. How could it tolerate such humiliation? Moreover, it was kicked away by a half-human, half-demon Blood Demon.
Radiance flowed, and Pixiu's form surged in size, expanding several times over. Now, Pixiu occupied nearly half the room, and at the same time, a purple-gold horn slowly emerged from its head.
“Roar!!!” Pixiu let out a furious roar that exuded a pressure similar to that of a phoenix.
After all, Pixiu was a divine beast, a descendant of the Qilin. Besides being born with auspiciousness, it also possessed the unique pressure inherent to divine beasts.
Divine beasts can be considered part of the demon race; however, they generally do not form groups due to their stronger nature being more restricted by the earth. Nevertheless, the essence of both demon races and divine beasts is similar; they cultivate their physical bodies, which consist of flesh and blood. Both absorb Earth Spirit Energy from the ground but lack a Dantian, so they can only integrate Spiritual Energy into their flesh and blood. Thus, higher-level divine beasts and demons possess incredibly powerful abilities! While demons are strong, the most crucial aspect of their inheritance is also the lineage.
A descendant of a divine beast may not necessarily become one themselves, but they will certainly possess stronger attributes than ordinary demons.
Pressure is an accompanying trait in the lineage inheritance of divine beasts and demons.
High-level lineage inheritors can exert a life-threatening deterrent against lower-level lineage inheritors; this is the principle behind pressure.
This is Pixiu! Even if it were to mate with a common dog, its offspring would still inherit powerful bloodlines. While it might not intimidate others easily, it could certainly subdue a Blood Demon without issue—especially considering Pixiu itself.
As soon as Pixiu unleashed its pressure, the Vampire Woman immediately showed signs of struggle.
Pixiu raised its claw again. Now that the Vampire Woman was subdued by its pressure, she could no longer unleash her speed and could only watch helplessly as Pixiu's massive claw descended.
Pixiu was quite clever; instead of attacking the Blood Demon directly, it chose to rescue Shaoming first.
The Vampire Woman could only watch as Pixiu's claw slowly descended.
“Buzz!!!”
Just as Pixiu's claw was about to shatter another object, it was suddenly blocked by something resembling a protective shield. The claw struck the shield directly, sending ripples of energy radiating outward like waves on water.
“A magical artifact?” Pixiu wondered aloud. “This bed is actually a magical artifact?”
“Caw Caw, I am Black Wuchang,” the Vampire Woman sneered. “Do you think you're impressive just because you have pressure? If you can, break this magical artifact!”
Pixiu stood frozen in place, realizing that he could no longer continue to exert his pressure. After all, the room was only so big; he couldn't expand it.
“Yours!” Just when Pixiu felt helpless, a clear voice rang out, followed by a beam of Silver Radiance shooting towards the protective shield.
Like a bubble being pierced by a needle, the shield proved to be incredibly fragile in the face of that silver light!
“Who is it?” the Vampire Demon shouted angrily.
In response to the Vampire Demon were five figures of various colors. Upon closer inspection, I recognized them as the Five-Colored Suit that had previously obstructed me.
“I didn't expect that there are still remnants of the Blood Demon clan in Huaxia.” A figure with a faint blue hue floated over; it was Sister Luan, who had come to assist earlier.
Luan glanced at me with a hint of disdain in her tone. “You think you can be Shaoming's master?”
“There's a hierarchy in learning; capturing demons isn't my specialty,” I made an excuse, as capturing demons was indeed not my strong suit.
“Hmph, that's just quibbling,” Luan huffed. “Learn from this!”
Pixiu continued to exert his pressure, but it seemed to have no effect on Luan. The pressure from divine beasts could suppress lower-bloodline demon clans, but if the target's strength was extremely high, lower-bloodline demons could use their own demonic power to counteract the pressure.
Luan's situation appeared to be just that, and judging by the pressure she had just released, her bloodline should not be too low either.
"Come back!" Luan waved her hand, and the Silver Radiance returned to her grasp. She stored away the Radiance, revealing a feather that appeared to be crafted from pure silver, its edges flowing with a shimmering silver light.
"Are you of the demon race?" the Vampire Woman asked, looking at Luan.
Blood Demons faced discrimination not only among humans but also from the demon race. Thus, Blood Demons harbored resentment towards both groups.
"Sort of," Luan replied lightly. "Aren't you going to surrender obediently?"
"Surrender? That's wishful thinking!" the woman retorted sharply.
Using idioms quite well, aren't they? Are you all liberal arts students?
"Then I guess I'll have to subdue you," Luan said, her gaze narrowing. She lightly tapped her toes on the ground, and suddenly, she floated into the air.
The silver feather transformed into a beam of Radiance that merged into Luan's body, as if something had been activated within her. She became enveloped in Silver Radiance, and two massive wings extended from her back.
Fortunately, the room was spacious enough; otherwise, those enormous wings wouldn't fit.
As the wings gently flapped, they made Luan appear as if she were a celestial being descending from the heavens.
"Do you need help?" I asked, having regained some of my mobility.
"No need; just watch," Luan declined.
"Then I'll stay back." I moved towards the wall, hoping not to get caught up in their battle.
"So you really are of the demon race," the Vampire Woman glanced at Luan. "It seems I will have to bring out some of my hidden abilities."
The Vampire Woman opened her palm, and a drop of eerie Blood Drop slowly materialized from her hand.
As soon as the Blood Drop appeared, the air in the entire room became heavy.
The Vampire Woman glanced at the five individuals thrown into the room like trash by Luan. With a low murmur, she tilted her head back and swallowed the drop of blood. At the same time, two wings sprouted from her back.
With a wave of her hand, the Five-Colored Suit was pulled towards her from a distance, and the woman inhaled forcefully as if drinking water.
Streams of blood light were drawn out from the Five-Colored Suit, causing it to wither immediately, transforming into five grotesque corpses in no time.
"Come on," the Vampire Woman said, revealing two blood-red fangs at the corners of her mouth, surrounded by layers of Blood Mist.
Luan flapped her wings, creating a silver whirlwind that wreaked havoc in the room.
"This place is too cramped; shall we go outside to fight?" Luan suggested.
The pressure exerted by Pixiu kept everyone in check, and the Vampire Demon was eager to go outside. At that moment, Luan had already broken through the glass of the room and flew out.
The Vampire Demon hesitated for a moment when she saw the large bed but soon followed Luan out.
Instantly, only I and Pixiu remained in the room along with two bodies lying on the big bed.
Once Luan and the Vampire Woman left the room, Pixiu's oppressive aura dissipated and vanished from within.
Pixiu quickly retracted its form and transformed back into its original large dog shape.
I slowly walked to the edge of the bed. My body was still somewhat affected by toxins, so I couldn't move freely yet.
Lying on the bed were two individuals. I initially thought they were both Sisters, but upon closer inspection, that wasn't the case. One was likely Shaoming, but the other appeared to be a child.
Shaoming had been pierced by a tube in her back. As a Fox Spirit, her blood had a slight pink hue. After all, demonic power mingles with flesh and blood, so the color of a demon's power is essentially reflected in their blood.
The Flying Sword soared high and struck the tube connecting Shaoming and the child, yet its sharpness failed to even scratch the surface of the tube.
"This tube is very hard; I estimate it would be easier to pull it out than to cut it," Pixiu said.
"Pull it out? Is that really so easy?" I replied. "Three Purities Edict, Daoist Law of Correct Origin, Spiritual Sight, activate!"
My Spiritual Sight had improved significantly, allowing me to perform simple x-ray vision, more effective than hospital equipment. However, there was a drawback: this vision was uncontrollable. If I used it to spy, I could only see Sister's bones and internal organs directly.
Shaoming had three tubes connected to him: one at the cervical spine, one at the lumbar spine, and one above the Heart. These were all critical areas; using too much force could potentially leave Shaoming permanently disabled.
The child was covered in numerous tubes; aside from those connected to Shaoming, the others likely linked to the previous demon Sisters I had rescued.
"Pixiu, do you know what this is?" I asked the child, knowing that Pixiu, being an ancient divine beast, might have broader knowledge than I did.
"I have heard of a method," Pixiu replied. "Weaker demon can enhance their bloodline by absorbing the blood of other demon."
"Weaker? Are you referring to this child?" I inquired.
"Blood Demons are indeed a different species; they possess both human and demon bloodlines. Therefore, the chance of deformity among them is quite high. I believe that woman intends to use the blood of those demons to compensate for the child's deficiencies. However, those demons bloodlines are not particularly advanced, which is why your Fox Demon Apprentice was captured."
