Red Boy, the son of Pingtai Sheng and Bull Demon King, and the daughter of the Rakshasa Kingdom's princess Iron Fan Princess, is a genuine second-generation demon with a solid background. However, being a rich second-generation often leads to arrogance and unruliness, which has shaped Red Boy into a mountain bandit-like character. Later, he encountered a chubby monk on his way to Journey to the West, accompanied by a pet monkey and a pet pig, while passing through Mountain Withered Pine Stream. Who is Red Boy? He is the child raised by Bull Demon King, with quite an appetite! Upon seeing the chubby monk, he thought he would make a delicious dish, so he captured him. However, the chubby monk's pet monkey was quite capable; although it suffered a bit under Red Boy's True Fire, it had extensive connections, being a monkey that called Guanyin "sister."
The monkey went to complain to Guanyin, saying there was a troublesome kid at Mountain Withered Pine Stream who not only made a mess but also refused to give up his seat for the elderly. Guanyin thought, how can there be such an inconsiderate child? So, she followed the monkey down.
Later, when Guanyin saw Red Boy, she thought this child was not bad; after all, she had seen his sister before. She decided that he wouldn't need to use gas at home in Luojia Mountain, so she took Red Boy under her wing.
Now, Red Boy has completed nine years of compulsory education under Guanyin and has come down to the human world for an internship. "Your True Fire is too powerful; you can't use it in the human world," so Red Boy transformed from a top-tier barbecue chef in Luojia Mountain to my companion, Niu Hong.
Since Red Boy couldn't use his True Fire, his attack power significantly decreased. Later, he was attacked by the behind-the-scenes mastermind of JZ Normal University, who ignited the sealed True Fire, causing Red Boy to be engulfed in flames and nearly perish. However, he was fortunate enough to recover fully with the help of Three Rivers Water and Ksitigarbha.
But what was happening now? Flames were erupting all over Red Boy. The red light surrounding him must be related to his True Fire. How do I know this? Because True Fire is the Ultimate Fire. Although it's unclear why Red Boy inherently possesses it, he has now fully mastered it, and it has become one with him. An ultimate fire like this has its pride; how could it allow its recognized master to use any flames inferior to itself in battle? Therefore, I firmly believe that the red light surrounding Red Boy is inseparably linked to his True Fire!
Now standing before me, illuminated by red flames, with hair flowing in the wind and wearing armor that appeared to be crafted from red crystals; on his feet were heavy boots as he hovered slightly above the ground like a deity. The original red tassel of his Fire Spear had been replaced by a brilliant red spark.
I was still immersed in astonishment at how handsome Red Boy had become when he grew somewhat impatient.
"What are you doing? Ango, don't you recognize me?" he said in an impatient tone.
"Ah, ah!" I suddenly snapped back to reality. "How did you end up here?"
"The people who attacked our school might still have spies nearby, so I was asked to patrol tonight," said Red Boy, his eyes flashing with determination as the flames and armor gradually receded into his body, returning him to the appearance I had seen before.
"Can you play with fire now?"
I referred to using his powers as playing with fire. Initially resistant, Red Boy eventually got used to it and no longer objected.
"Ever since my fire was unleashed, the seal imposed by the Bodhisattva has loosened. The flames can now overflow; I can temporarily use them again. However, they can only attach themselves to me and my spear, providing about one-third of my original power. But it won't last long—around one and a half incense sticks worth."
Even so, Red Boy's combat ability is still significantly higher than before.
"Did you see the figure clearly just now?" I wasn't sure who had fought with Red Boy earlier, but it seemed that whoever could overpower the current Red Boy was also a troublesome character.
"To be honest, I didn't see it clearly, but it should be the same group that attacked the school before. I could smell the exact same scent from him as the Corpse that attacked the school," Red Boy said.
"Let's go down first; Old Black is still waiting below." I led Red Boy back to where we had fished out the Witch.
Black Wuchang looked genuinely exhausted, sitting there and catching his breath. The Drowned Ghost stood next to her own corpse, watching as Red Boy and I landed on the ground.
"How did it go? Did you catch them?" Black Wuchang stood up.
"No, they escaped. Old Black, what do we do now?"
"What else can we do? We need to send this girl to Yama," Old Black pointed at the Drowned Ghost.
"What about the Witch?"
"We'll send her to Fengdu, through Yellow Springs Road."
"Send her? Which courier would dare take this thing?" I kicked the Witch's body, and she turned her head back with a snap. I quickly pulled my foot away.
Do couriers even accept living beings now? Especially not something that could serve as a meat grinder?
"This is easy." Old Black picked up a chain and tightly bound the Witch, tossing her onto the ground. He then pulled out a piece of black cloth from somewhere and directly turned the Witch into a black package.
"I'll go send this out now." Black Wuchang hoisted the Witch onto his shoulder and turned to leave.
Seriously, could he be any more reckless? Just like that, he's taking her away? And what about the girl still floating in mid-air?
Logically, since she was already dead for quite some time, it would be better to send her back to the Underworld as soon as possible. But what about her corpse? It can't just be left on the shore; we need to handle her remains properly.
"Um, Senior," I turned to Senior Liu Wan and said, "I'm also a student at JZ Normal University, so I'll just call you Senior. Hope you don't mind."
Senior Liu Wan nodded, appearing indifferent.
"Given your situation, revival is impossible. However, if you have any unfinished wishes, you can share them with me. I'll do my best, okay?" I wasn't particularly wealthy, so I could only try my best. I still couldn't figure out who wrote that letter before.
"Ango, something's off." Red Boy suddenly came over and pulled me to the shore, forcefully interrupting my conversation with Senior Liu Wan.
"What’s wrong?" I allowed Red Boy to pull me along.
"There’s an unusual Resentment on the River Surface. Did you feel it?" Red Boy said cautiously.
"Really?" I formed a hand seal to activate my Spiritual Sight. Sure enough, just as Red Boy mentioned, the River Surface was floating with a Resentment that had started to turn slightly red, seemingly beginning to transform towards Blood Qi.
"There’s something beneath the water." I pondered for a moment and quickly turned to ask Senior Liu Wan, "Do you know what else is under the water?"
Senior Liu Wan squatted down and said in a panic-laden tone filled with Resentment, "People, many people. There are many down there; they want to eat me."
It seemed there really was something beneath the water.
"Ango." Red Boy poked my arm and had already taken out a Fire Spear: "Something's coming up."
I looked at the River Surface and saw souls emerging from it. Senior Liu Wan was a Drowned Ghost, belonging to the category of Horizontal Death Ghosts without Resentment. However, Drowned Ghosts infused with Resentment were different; they fell into the realm of Evil Spirits and had a specific name—Drowned Ghosts. Drowned Ghosts could directly enter Reincarnation but would end up in hell.
What emerged from the River Surface were Drowned Ghosts! There were about a dozen of them, each swollen from being submerged in water, their eyes starting to turn slightly red, nails long, floating on the River Surface, staring blankly at me.
"Hong, you focus on offense while I control the battlefield."
Red Boy could fly; he felt more at ease on the River Surface while I took out my gourd and Exorcism Talisman from behind to control the battlefield for Red Boy from the shore.
"Okay." Red Boy responded, and the Fire Spear erupted with bright red flames.
The Drowned Ghost was no match for Red Boy; it merely had a flicker of True Fire at the tip of its spear. True Fire can ignite anything, even souls, and without it, Red Boy would not be able to harm the Drowned Ghost. That is why Red Boy ignited True Fire at the spear's tip.
Red Boy stomped his foot and shot forward. With a flick of his spear, he struck the nearest Drowned Ghost. True Fire ignites everything, including souls, and the Drowned Ghost let out a horrific scream.
With a swing of his spear, Red Boy tossed the Drowned Ghost in front of me. I immediately used an Exorcism Talisman to subdue the Drowned Ghost and captured it in a gourd.
The Drowned Ghost was not lacking in intelligence. Upon seeing its first companion taken down so easily, it quickly surrounded Red Boy.
Red Boy was incredibly brave, launching a fierce attack in one direction. In an instant, three Drowned Ghosts were skewered on his Fire Spear and appeared beside me. This wasn't our first time working together; we had developed a tacit understanding. I swiftly captured the Drowned Ghosts from Red Boy's spear into the gourd. Red Boy turned and left, returning shortly with more Drowned Ghosts. In no time, we had captured over a dozen Drowned Ghosts.
"Alright, we're done!" I clapped my hands on the gourd and then secured it at my waist.
"Ango, wait, there's something else," Red Boy continued to gaze at the water's surface.
"Where? There's nothing left!" I used Spiritual Sight to scan the surroundings; there were no anomalies.
"Thud!"
With a splash, Red Boy leaped from the shore and soon disappeared into the River.
