The Judge in the Underworld is both a profession and an official position, but the Judge generally deals with souls that have already arrived in the Underworld. Even if the Death Register is altered, it is of no use; even if it were changed, there would be no benefits to gain. Just think about it, for so many years, people have been burning Hell Money for the dead. How severe is inflation in the Underworld? How much Hell Money can a freshly deceased person carry? It might not even be enough to buy a bun in the Underworld, so with such little money, how could one entice the Judge to alter the Death Register? 0

However, I am different. I am a Resident Judge, which is a bug in the system; I can directly alter the lifespan of living people and even collect Renminbi! 0

But I cannot do this recklessly. There are principles in this realm that I must not disrupt; if these principles collapse, I will be the one to suffer. Moreover, altering lifespans requires Merit, and I currently do not have much Merit accumulated. Therefore, if I want to change a lifespan, I can only exchange it for my own lifespan. However, I am still in a state of reversing fate; if I manipulate things carelessly, it could lead to my downfall. If my attempt to change fate fails, who would I cry to? 0

Even so, not being able to extend someone's life does not mean I cannot take some actions. For example, if someone is suffering from Lung Cancer and is destined to die from it, when they come to me, I can remove the Lung Cancer without changing their lifespan. This means they won't die as painfully, and they won't have to spend money on unnecessary treatments. Of course, they will still die when their time comes. But why should I be so kind? As the saying goes, "The court faces south; without money, don't bother coming in." I consider myself relatively reasonable. However, I do not plan to discuss this matter with Boss Zhao because I cannot think of how to express it to him. Do I have the Death Register in my hands? That would be akin to seeking death. 0

After waiting for about twenty minutes or so, the old man opened the door. 0

He looked like someone who had already cried; his posture was not as straight as before, and his white hair was particularly noticeable. 0

"Do you want to go in?" I asked Boss Zhao. "There won't be another opportunity; if you want to go, now is the time." 0

"I think I'll pass," Boss Zhao said awkwardly. "I don't have anything good." 0

"Yours; there's nothing to regret." Since you won't go in, I'll get back to work. The sooner I finish my work, the sooner I can rest. 0

I pushed open the door and saw a Young Woman floating in mid-air; it was quite eerie. She smiled at me, and it was evident that she must have been a refined woman in life since she came from a Military District Nurse background. 0

"Thank you for your trouble," she said softly with a slight nod. "How will you handle me?" 0

"What else can be done? It's time for Reincarnation." I took out the Death Register and the Seal given by Yama King: "Come on; I'm not going to seal you anymore; just attach yourself to this seal." 0

Soul Reaping has its rules. If the target of Soul Reaping is somewhat cooperative, then everything goes smoothly. However, if one encounters a particularly uncooperative individual, one can forcibly take them to the Underworld using the chains meant for Soul Reaping. Generally, the chains are mostly for show. 0

I found a comfortable spot on the Wooden Chair and detached myself from my **. My fingers traced a virtual circle in front of me, creating a passageway to the Underworld. I raised the seal, and as the woman stood up, she entered inside. 0

Once we arrived in the Underworld, things became much simpler. I released the Young Woman from the seal. The Underworld is inherently a place for souls to exist, with air filled with Yin Qi that nourishes them. 0

The woman, who had appeared insubstantial before, became much more solid as she left the seal. In fact, bringing her here meant I had already completed my task; from here on out, others would handle the procedures. However, in response to Zhao Boss's request, I felt it necessary to uphold some professional ethics. 0

Walking along Yellow Springs Road with the Young Woman, I encountered a familiar face—Ox-Head! 0

Ox-Head is responsible for guarding Yellow Springs Road, making him perfectly suited for his role in the Underworld. Standing over 5 meters tall and entirely black, he loomed over Yellow Springs Road, like a toll collector; if anything went wrong, he could simply lie down across the road and block it entirely. 0

Meeting Ox-Head indicated that Yama's Hall was not far off. The Underworld has the Ten Kings of Hell, but typically it is Yama King who deals with newly arrived souls. Each Yama King handles different matters; for instance, Yama King deals with souls who have grievances but little sin. 0

Speaking of Yama King, since there is no more Meng Po Soup, I might as well find a spot for this woman so that she can go to Rebirth at the same time as the old man. Once I finished my task, I quickly returned to the human realm; I do not like the atmosphere of the Underworld. It feels eerie and carries a hint of ghostliness, so I try to spend as little time there as possible. 0

By the time I returned to the human realm, it was already late. I mentioned that I wanted to go back, but Zhao Boss insisted on driving me home, and I did not refuse. 0

Zhao Boss drove himself, which was convenient. Once we reached the city, we found a place to have breakfast. 0

After finishing breakfast, I headed straight back to JZ Normal University. As for the reward for my task, it would be credited to my meal card automatically, and then I could just ask Old Black for it. 0

How long have I been at JZ Normal University? It seems today is officially my first day of classes. 0

It was still early, and there were basically no students in the classroom. I found a spot at the back and lay down to catch some sleep. I hadn't slept all night again and was completely exhausted. 0

After a while, students finally started to trickle in, and their noise woke me up. 0

"Ding ling ling~" After the bell rang, an old man who was already over fifty walked in and began to lecture on Chinese history. I almost forgot that I was in the Classical Literature department. I forced myself to listen to the entire class, but I had no intention of paying attention for the rest of the time. Why? If I wanted to know about the Tang Dynasty, couldn't I just ask Red Boy? And if I wanted to know about the Ming Dynasty, wouldn't it be better to ask Black Wuchang directly? 0

Bored out of my mind, I pulled out the two books my master had insisted I take: "Strange Beasts" and "Shikigami Diagram." "Strange Beasts" recorded many monsters that existed since ancient times, while "Shikigami Diagram" provided introductions and coping methods for various types of spirits. 0

"Hey there, are you interested in these things too?" A person next to me leaned over, glanced at my books, and spoke to me in a familiar tone. 0

I looked up and was surprised to see that it was Zhang Lei, that peculiar guy. I had almost forgotten he was my classmate. But I couldn't really blame myself; ever since I sent him to the hospital, I hadn't seen him for so long that he had grown quite a bit. 0
