Although I have guessed the reason why the Yin Soldiers are involved, I still do not understand why they are targeting me. Also, were Wang Ni and the others really just a coincidence back then, or were they all part of Mr. Cui's design?
"Why did you use the alias Monkey to lure Wang Ni and the others?"
"You are mistaken. My target at that time was that Maoshan person," Mr. Cui said. "I wanted to know how to control the Yin Soldiers."
"What is your ultimate goal?"
"To torment those human traffickers! Not just them; over the years, I have caught quite a few other traffickers as well, hahaha! I want them to suffer for eternity!"
"Do you know how to control the Yin Soldiers now?"
"It's that Ghost Compass in your hand." Mr. Cui's face twisted with rage, as if he wanted to swallow me whole. "I tried many times but couldn't activate it, so I lured that Corpse Taoist here, killed him, and used soul-binding methods to learn how to use this thing. It turns out that although it is a Ghost Compass, it requires authentic Taoist Arts and magical power to activate it. However, my cultivation from Longhu Mountain has long been wasted by my own actions. I thought of asking the Corpse Taoist for his Maoshan cultivation Spell, but he ended up scattering his own soul."
"Then why did you let Wang Ni go?" I was still concerned about this point.
"She and the Corpse Taoist were the first two people besides my master who truly treated me like family. The Corpse Taoist had to die; Sister Ni, such a good person, deserves to live in his place."
It turned out he still remembered Wang Ni's kindness; from this, it seemed he retained a shred of humanity.
"What about the others? Why didn't you spare any of them?"
"They weren't good people either. That one who calls himself Mining has no idea how many graves he has dug up. As for that pair of Pimps, they sold their own children. People like them living in this world are a disaster; their deaths at my hands count as my merit."
"Sigh, so you lured me here for my cultivation methods?" I sighed; it seemed the darkness of this world had been laid bare before Mr. Cui, no wonder he had gone mad like this.
"No, I can no longer cultivate those things. I want to cooperate with you." Mr. Cui stared at me intently. "I control those Resentments; you control the Yin Soldiers. Who in this world could stop us?"
I felt a headache coming on; with just the two of us, we wouldn't need anyone else—Uncle Xing alone with his weapon could wipe us out! Why would I accompany you on this path of destruction when I have a bright future ahead?
"What is your ultimate goal? Spare me the revenge talk; do I look like someone with an IQ below 15?"
"I was controlled by my master at Longhu Mountain, and after coming down the mountain, I was controlled by these beasts. I can't stand those who live in comfort while I suffer so much! Why should they enjoy everything without paying anything? I want them to feel what hell is like!"
This person has already gone mad; there’s no saving him. What do his grievances against those enjoying life have to do with him? He wants revenge on society! Yes, I need to keep my distance from him...
"Hell? You will feel it soon enough." A shadow emerged from deep within the forest, holding an enormous iron chain. It was Black Wuchang Wei Wujiao!
“Old Black!” I exclaimed joyfully. “Are you okay?”
“What could possibly happen to me? As soon as I entered, I saw those imprisoned Vengeful Spirits. I thought I might be busy for a while, so I told you to leave first.” Old Black waved the iron chain in his hand casually.
“Aren't you already under my control?” Mr. Cui said in panic. “Impossible! How could you escape from the prison formed by the Vengeful Spirits?”
I looked at him as if he were an idiot. The Vengeful Spirits trapping Wuchang? What was the difference between that and trapping a Husky with bones?
“Old Black, why didn’t you come out sooner?”
“Hey, I forgot that I can only enforce the law at night, so I just took a nap there first,” Old Black said innocently.
Damn, I worried for nothing; what a waste of my expression.
“Hey, Mr. Cui, let me ask you, where is Wang Ni? She just disappeared.” I was very concerned about Wang Ni's situation.
“Wang Ni?” Mr. Cui looked at me confused. “I didn’t touch her.”
What? Did that girl move on her own?
“It's just that she’s in my Vengeful Spirits’ hands!” Mr. Cui suddenly changed his expression, looking at me sideways as if mocking an ant.
It seemed he had completely lost his nature and still dared to play tricks on me. Sigh, if Wang Ni was in his hands, then I was indeed at a disadvantage.
“Old Black, let’s fight.” I took out the Peach Wood Sword but thought better of it and switched to the Military Dagger.
I pulled out a stack of Fire Talismans from my Daoist Robe. “Three Purities Edict, Daoist Law of Correct Origin, Fire Talismans command, burn away evil and uphold righteousness. Go!” I threw the Fire Talismans at Mr. Cui.
“Caw Caw, I am Black Wuchang,” Mr. Cui said with a wave of his black robe, stirring up a gust of cold wind. “You didn’t even know where I was when I played with these things!”
“Oh really? Did your master ever teach you not to provoke Black Wuchang?” I teased as Black Wuchang quietly floated beside him, raising the iron chain high.
“Foolish one, die!” As expected of Black Wuchang; although he usually appeared clumsy, he exuded great momentum when fighting!
Mr. Cui’s phantom flickered and surprisingly dodged Old Ghost's iron chain, wielding an iron shovel and striking down fiercely at Black Wuchang. Unfortunately, who was Black Wuchang? He was the Ghost Messenger! Although Mr. Cui practiced Evil Technique and could see things invisible to ordinary people at all times, Black Wuchang was ultimately incorporeal. The iron shovel passed right through Black Wuchang (physical attacks ineffective! Old Black's chains count as soul attacks).
Seeing that his attack was ineffective against Old Black, Mr. Cui turned to attack me instead.
"Damn it, am I a soft persimmon?"
"Old Black, hold him off for a moment." I performed a Wind Walk technique (one of the Eight Treasures Mystique) and dodged to the side. "I'll summon a deity and confront him directly!"
Summoning a deity actually originated from Mao Shan Arts. Over time, fewer and fewer people practiced it at Maoshan, so they simply made this Spell public.
"Three Purities Edict, Daoist Law of Correct Origin, deity descends to the mortal realm, slay demons and eliminate evil!" Originally, the Maoshan Summoning Technique was meant to call upon their Patriarch, but for us, we couldn't possibly trouble their Patriarch, right? That would be too embarrassing. So we summoned a deity at random...
I stuck a blank Yellow Talisman to my chest; whatever deity appeared would have their title written on the talisman.
"Rooster of Dawn"
These words appeared on the Yellow Talisman. What is this? I've never heard of it before.
"Mao Ri Xing Jun?" Black Wuchang actually had time to look at me; he recognized the owner of those four characters on my Yellow Talisman. I was baffled—what's going on? Did I really summon this Deity? Even calling a mere Soldier would have more combat power than him. However, before I could think further, the divine consciousness of Mao Ri Xing Jun had already descended.
Mao Ri Xing Jun, those familiar with "Journey to the West" might remember him as one of the Twenty-Eight Constellations, taking the form of a large rooster about six or seven feet tall, and he is also the son of Vimalaprabha Bodhisattva. He once helped Sun Wukong deal with the Scorpion Spirit from the Daughter Kingdom.
"You actually summoned a chicken! Hahahaha!" said Black Wuchang.
