Eleven days later, outside North Sea City.
Warhorses whinnied as a group of soldiers stood guard at the city’s perimeter. To enter the territory behind North Sea City and find Wangui Cave, one must pass through here.
In the early morning, light rain fell as a young man wielding an Iron Sword approached slowly; it was Ye Yang.
Lifting his hat, he glanced at a group of National Talent soldiers ahead. These men were once subordinates of Yan Yao but had now become the henchmen of Da Feng.
“Hey, you there! Where are you from and where are you going?” a Valiant General pointed at Ye Yang and shouted.
Ye Yang hurriedly stepped forward and said in a low voice, “I came from Liang City. I was doing some small business, but after losing everything, I had no choice but to rely on my youth and strength to work as a Guardhouse. Now that my master has died in the chaos of war, I’ve come to Yan Kingdom seeking a living.”
The Valiant General sneered coldly at Ye Yang and said, “You’re so young and strong; it’s a pity to be a Guardhouse. How about this: our North Sea City’s southern city wall has collapsed and is under repair. We need manpower. Go help out, and we’ll feed you. What do you say?”
Ye Yang’s eyes burned with anger, almost retorting with “eat some damn food,” but he suppressed his fury and looked troubled as he replied, “General, I only know a little bit; how can I repair the city wall? If it collapses because I didn’t do it right, I can’t take responsibility…”
The Valiant General laughed, “Don’t worry; I just need you to do some hard labor. You can carry stones, right? Hurry up and go! Stop wasting my time, or I’ll stab you with my sword!”
Ye Yang was furious but turned his gaze to the distance. He noticed a bearded warrior surrounded by guards strolling through the city. This man had sharp eyes and concealed energy, with a faint glow of Divine Crystal shimmering on his body. Without a doubt, he was a Divine-level Expert. Although merely an Initial Deity, he was not someone Ye Yang could contend with.
He had heard that after Da Feng took over Qi State, he recruited soldiers everywhere and gathered four Initial Deities as capable Generals to wage wars. Even Xiang Yu from Xianyang and Mid-Level Deities from Han had to be wary of him. Thus, Ye Yang dared not act recklessly; if he were to die here before forging the Haotian Sword Divine Weapon, it would truly be a pity. As the saying goes, a gentleman takes revenge ten years later; patience is key!
Reluctantly, Ye Yang was escorted by soldiers along with a group of strong young civilians to the damaged city wall. It was clear that there was a sword mark resembling a twenty-meter-wide gash in the wall; the bricks were shattered—a terrifying display of power likely crafted by a Divine-level Expert.
Ye Yang couldn’t help but gasp in awe as he joined the ranks of laborers. He deliberately lowered his presence and struggled to carry stones while stumbling along with others. Soon enough, he was drenched in sweat—far from being a peak Starry Sky Seventh Level expert; he appeared more like an ordinary young man just trying to make ends meet. Fortunately, Ye Yang had quickly hidden the Azure Soul Sword and Haotian Sword in his Cosmic Bag; otherwise, they would have surely been confiscated.
After working hard all day, in the evening, the laborers were collectively imprisoned in a large pit within the city, surrounded by a dozen soldiers guarding them.
"Dinner is here, everyone get up to eat!" Several soldiers brought over large baskets.
Having been hungry all day, the crowd hurried over to take a look, only to find it was just a moldy steamed bun. Immediately, they all began to complain, but several were whipped by the supervisor, who angrily shouted, "Having something to eat is already good enough. Where does all this dissatisfaction come from? Eat it right now, or I’ll make sure none of you end up well!"
With no choice, everyone had to swallow their complaints and eat.
Ye Yang held a hard bun with mold on it, stared at it for a moment, then scraped off the moldy part and took a bite. It was surprisingly crispy and quite tasty!
He lightly bumped into a tattered young man beside him and whispered, "Brother, when did you come here?"
The young man was covered in dust and replied, "Five days ago!"
Ye Yang smiled: "I want to ask you something."
"With things being like this, how can you still smile?" The young man looked at Ye Yang in disbelief.
Ye Yang's smile remained bright: "Do you know which direction Wangui Cave is located in North Sea City? Or do you know how to get there?"
The young man's face turned pale: "Wangui Cave? Why are you asking about that place?"
"I'm just curious," Ye Yang replied.
"Let's not ask about it; that's a place best left alone!"
"Brother!" Ye Yang chuckled again, biting into a bun. "Let me ask you, do you want to go outside? Not stay here fixing this wall?"
"Of course, of course I want to!" The young man nodded eagerly, looking at the distant bricks of the wall. "In the past three days, more than ten people have fallen to their deaths while repairing this wall. Their bodies are buried beneath it; who knows when it might be my turn? I definitely want to leave here, but... there are many archers stationed outside. If we try to leave, we might die even faster..."
Ye Yang smiled lightly and said cautiously, "Tonight at midnight, I'll help you escape. There won't be any problems, trust me!"
"Really!?"
"Absolutely..."
...
After nightfall, a group of Laborers covered with straw mats quickly fell asleep, and soon their snores filled the air. In the distance, patrol Soldiers walked in groups of three or five around the construction site; these were the soldiers guarding the Laborers.
Ye Yang nudged the young man beside him and said, "Hey, wake up! We're leaving here to enjoy some good food and drink!"
The young man rubbed his eyes. "Oh, let's go!"
Ye Yang smiled slightly, bent down, and led the weary young man around a group of guards, moving slowly along a corner of the wall. The young man's face turned pale as he lowered his voice and said, "Young Hero, are we... are we not just seeking our own doom? Up ahead, there are at least ten archers lying in wait."
"Is that so? Just watch..."
Ye Yang chuckled and, hidden in the darkness, picked up a few stones from the ground and weighed them in his hand. With a swift motion, he threw them one after another into the night. Instantly, several muffled sounds disappeared into the wind; all ten archers were taken down by Ye Yang's stones without making a sound that others could hear.
"Wow... that's amazing..." The young man was left speechless.
Ye Yang couldn't help but take a deep breath, secretly relieved that the highest-ranked archer among them was already at Earth Level Seven, yet he had knocked him out with a single strike. It turned out that his strength had not deteriorated to a terrifying extent.
...
After running for a long time from the construction site, the young man hurriedly said, "This is bad. There's a curfew at night, and we can't get out of the city. We'll be caught and taken back tomorrow morning!"
"What are you afraid of?"
Ye Yang grabbed his arm and leaped, both of them floating lightly over the city wall and landing steadily on the other side. Ye Yang looked into the darkness and said, "Alright, as the price for saving you, take me to Wangui Cave!"
"Huh?"
The young man looked horrified. "Young Hero, are you really going to Wangui Cave? Aren't you afraid of dying?"
Ye Yang smiled lightly and replied, "Do you think I would die?"
