"Did you know all this?" Kang Ning suddenly exclaimed in surprise. In fact, the reason he kept the account book and had Wu Zhongxin sign it was all Luo Huasheng's idea; in case something went wrong, there had to be a scapegoat, right? However, initially, Kang Ning was indeed on Wu Zhongxin's side, but later he got involved with Luo Huasheng. "Don't be so excited. Here, drink some milk from Myanmar," Zhang Yang said as he picked up a pack of milk and tossed it to Kang Ning.
"What Myanmar? It's all inferior to Huaxia," Zhang Yang replied as he took the milk. He was indeed quite shocked earlier and opened a corner to start drinking.
"I'm just saying, why did you go checking this and that when everything was fine? Didn't that just get you involved?" Kang Ning remarked.
"I originally planned to hide in Guma Town for a while, but then I thought I'd come to Myanmar for some fun, and here we are with your situation. By the way, what are you planning to do next? Where are you going?" Zhang Yang suddenly asked.
As fellow outcasts, Zhang Yang surprisingly began to show concern for Kang Ning's predicament.
"I just wanted to hide in Myanmar since I have money. But now we've offended the local armed groups; it seems we have to run," Kang Ning said with a bitter smile.
"By the way, do you have any evidence of Luo Huasheng doing these things?" Zhang Yang asked.
"If I had evidence, would I still need to run?" Kang Ning replied. "Although I know he is behind Big Tiger, there is indeed no evidence. He is very careful and cunning and controls such a department; how could one person take him down?"
After saying that, Kang Ning surprisingly pulled out a handgun from his body. "Let's take it one step at a time."
"Damn, you actually brought a gun?" Zhang Yang said.
"I'm out here in exile alone; how can I not carry a gun? I was startled earlier and forgot to take it out. But with the three of us—two submachine guns and one handgun—we don't have many bullets left. Dealing with the local armed groups might be..." Kang Ning said.
"As long as we escape back to the Border, we'll be fine," Wings said. "Let's rest for a bit and then figure out how to get back home."
The three checked their firearms and rested behind a large rock for a while. Just as they were discussing whether to go into the village for some food, suddenly several military off-road vehicles appeared on that dirt road!
"This is bad; that driver must have betrayed us!" Zhang Yang shouted, then immediately instructed everyone to check their shoelaces and belts, tightening them before rushing deeper into the forest. The off-road vehicles quickly reached the village entrance. Zhang Yang and the others wore colorful clothes that were hard to conceal in the forest and soon became exposed.
Gunshots rang out as a squad of soldiers chased after them!
Zhang Yang turned around, aimed at the head of one soldier, and fired. A spark flew off the soldier's helmet from the distance, but it did not hit. They were all fully armed, wearing helmets.
However, this shot momentarily halted the pursuers, allowing the three to continue their escape.
With Zhang Yang and Wings' skills, facing a dozen unarmed men would be child's play. But the opponents were a fully armed military force with firearms, numbering over a hundred, turning it into a battlefield where any bullet could be fatal.
To make matters worse, the enemy had chosen a high vantage point to set up snipers and heavy machine guns.
The gunfire intensified as the three darted left and right through the forest, appearing quite flustered.
Zhang Yang and Wings occasionally took shots at their pursuers, but in the dense woods while running, their accuracy was limited.
"Go ahead! I'll hold them off!" Zhang Yang shouted. Seizing an opportunity, he leaped up into a large tree and quickly disappeared among the branches. Wings and Kang Ning continued to run forward.
As the pursuers closed in, Zhang Yang suddenly unleashed a barrage of fire from above, forcing them to duck for cover. He then jumped down into the crowd, engaging in close combat where firearms were less effective. Zhang Yang weaved through the throng like cutting through vegetables, swiftly taking down several enemies.
During the fight, Zhang Yang seized a heavy machine gun and unleashed another fierce spray of bullets, knocking down more soldiers while those who weren't hit quickly dropped to the ground.
After exhausting his ammunition, Zhang Yang grabbed an AK47 and leaped back up into a tree. After a few agile movements, he vanished into the foliage. Wings and Kang Ning had already run far ahead; knowing Zhang Yang's capabilities, they didn't hesitate and focused on fleeing.
Zhang Yang found a ditch and took cover behind a mound of dirt with his AK47 ready.
The remaining soldiers soon followed; there were still dozens left. Zhang Yang adopted a semi-automatic firing method, taking down one soldier with each shot.
However, these were well-trained soldiers. They quickly realized that only Zhang Yang was behind the mound and began to spread out in groups of three or five while charging forward under covering fire.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
A flurry of bullets struck near the mound, making it difficult for Zhang Yang to raise his head.
Seizing an opening, Zhang Yang poked his gun out and fired once to the left, once to the center, and once to the right. The sound of consecutive screams echoed as it was clear that some had been hit.
Just as he was about to peek out, a loud "boom!" suddenly echoed.
A grenade exploded in front of the mound where Zhang Yang was hiding, but fortunately, he did not raise his head. At this moment, the soldiers began to encircle Zhang Yang's position slowly.
Zhang Yang was about to lift his head when another "boom!" sounded; another grenade had detonated!
The encircling soldiers were getting closer, and if Zhang Yang didn't move soon, he might not be able to escape!
At that moment, from a nearby thicket on Zhang Yang's side, a figure suddenly emerged, holding a submachine gun and opened fire on the approaching soldiers! The soldiers had not expected someone to appear from that direction, and screams erupted. It was Wings, who sensed something was wrong and had come back to fight!
One soldier had just pulled the pin on a grenade and hadn't thrown it yet when he fell to the ground; the grenade exploded among the soldiers, causing immediate casualties!
"Run!" Wings shouted, then quickly tried to retreat. Zhang Yang immediately followed, and within moments they disappeared deep into the forest.
The soldiers were caught off guard; over a hundred of them were thrown into disarray by these two individuals. Many were injured, and for a time, they halted their pursuit.
However, in Myanmar's dense jungle, these soldiers were mostly experts in jungle warfare. After a brief regrouping, they left some personnel to tend to the wounded and contact reinforcements while selecting fifteen elite members to continue tracking Zhang Yang and Wings.
