"It's me. The anomalies you've discovered regarding lunar radiation are far more dangerous than you can imagine," Lu Li replied.
"What do you know?" Su Qingyi pressed.
Lu Li was silent for a moment, seemingly organizing his thoughts. "Someone is deliberately hiding the truth; they don't want you to know the true power of lunar radiation." However, Lu Li ultimately revealed little, not wanting to involve Su Qingyi too deeply—at least not yet.
"Who exactly are you? Why are you helping me?" Su Qingyi asked again, her tone filled with confusion and unease.
"You can call me L. As for why I'm helping you, it's because someone doesn't want you to speak the truth, and I don't like being manipulated. That's all," Lu Li responded.
Su Qingyi wanted to ask more but found that the chat room had already closed. She stared blankly at the screen, Lu Li's last words echoing in her mind, filled with doubt and anxiety.
Meanwhile, Zhao Tianyu's office phone suddenly rang.
"Captain Zhao, you'd better come see this," an anxious voice from the technician said. "Someone has hacked into the National Observatory's surveillance system!"
Zhao Tianyu jumped to his feet, his expression darkening immediately. He grabbed his coat from the desk and strode out of the office toward the monitoring room.
"Have you found out who did it?" Zhao Tianyu asked coldly as he looked at the intrusion records displayed on the screen.
"The intruder is highly skilled; their techniques are very advanced, and we haven't been able to trace their true identity yet," the technician replied, beads of sweat forming on his forehead.
"Find out immediately! Dig three feet into the ground if you have to; I want them uncovered!" Zhao Tianyu shouted, knowing this matter was serious.
Conflict
Zhao Tianyu's fist slammed down on the table, causing the water cup to shake violently and splash water everywhere. The technicians in the monitoring room fell silent, nervously staring at the screen as their fingers flew over the keyboard, trying to track the intruder's movements.
"Have you found anything yet?" Zhao Tianyu's voice was low but carried an unsettling pressure.
"Report, Captain Zhao. The intruder is using multiple proxies and virtual identities; their technical methods are extremely sophisticated. We're still working on tracking them..." The technician's voice grew quieter until it was almost inaudible.
Zhao Tianyu took a deep breath, suppressing his anger; he knew this wasn't the time to lose his temper. He approached the screen and carefully observed every move of the intruder.
"It seems they are very familiar with the structure of the National Observatory; their target is clear—they're heading straight for the surveillance system. It looks like they came prepared..." Zhao Tianyu analyzed while quickly flipping through the intrusion records.
"Wait, look!" a technician suddenly exclaimed, pointing at the screen. "The intruder is trying to access Dr. Su's personal computer!"
Zhao Tianyu's heart sank as a sense of foreboding washed over him. He immediately grabbed his communicator and shouted into it: "Contact Dr. Su Qingyi immediately! Right now!"
At that moment, a dialog box suddenly popped up on Su Qingyi's computer screen, displaying a simple line of text: "I know you're scared, but don't trust anyone—not even the government."
Su Qingyi's heart jolted; the words felt like a key that unlocked the door to her fears. She looked around, finding herself alone in the empty office, with moonlight streaming through the window, casting a pale glow on the floor.
"Who is it? Who is speaking?" Su Qingyi asked, her voice trembling.
"I am L. We have talked before," another line of text appeared in the chat box.
Su Qingyi's heartbeat quickened as she recalled the mysterious hacker, the one who knew the truth.
"What do you want?" Su Qingyi asked, her tone laced with caution.
"To help you," the text in the chat box was straightforward.
"Help me with what?" Su Qingyi pressed on.
"To expose the truth." The message flashed briefly before being replaced by a file transfer request.
Su Qingyi hesitated for a moment but ultimately clicked "Accept."
Just then, the office door burst open, and Zhao Tianyu rushed in with several fully armed soldiers.
"Dr. Su, are you alright?" Zhao Tianyu's heart finally eased when he saw Su Qingyi was unharmed.
"I'm fine..." Su Qingyi began to respond, but Zhao Tianyu's gaze fell on the file transfer interface on her computer screen.
"What are you doing?" Zhao Tianyu demanded sharply, suspicion and caution evident in his voice.
Before Su Qingyi could explain, the computer screen suddenly went black, and the file transfer was interrupted.
"Damn it!" Su Qingyi muttered under her breath; she realized she had been targeted.
