As the pursuers were about to catch up, Roxy was unwilling to abandon the injured Xin Yi to escape alone. Therefore, Xin Yi could only use words to push Roxy away, hoping that Roxy would become angry and leave him behind. After saying this, Xin Yi struggled to climb towards the mountain peak, ignoring Roxy, who stood there in a daze. 0

Hearing such words from Xin Yi truly saddened Roxy. It turned out that in Xin Yi's eyes, their relationship had always been that of employee and boss. He even regarded her willingness to stay and accompany him to death as a means for an employee to express loyalty to a boss, with the aim of promotion and salary increase. This thought of Xin Yi's was simply outrageous; how could he think of her like this?! How could he trample on her genuine feelings for him?! Although it seemed like an unintentional remark, it was the greatest insult to her dignity! Roxy really wanted to turn around and leave, never wanting to deal with this self-righteous man who didn’t value her feelings at all. 0

Some things do not require reciprocation for the sake of giving, such as the concept of love that has been praised by countless poets throughout history. Some people’s selfless giving can only be met with endless harm, likened to moths flying into a flame. This metaphor is vivid and captures the essence of foolishness perfectly. At this moment, although Roxy felt deeply hurt, she still couldn't bring herself to truly abandon Xin Yi. If this life could only encounter this fruitless love, then she might as well be that moth flying into the fire! At least she would have experienced that blazing light at the last moment of her life! 0

Roxy took a deep breath and silently caught up with the staggering Xin Yi from behind, lifting his left arm onto her shoulder. "Why are you still following me? Didn't I tell you..." 0

"If you really want to be caught by the pursuers quickly, then keep wasting time," Roxy coldly interrupted Xin Yi. "Xin Yi, I know what you mean, but I am willing to stay with you. This has nothing to do with anyone else; it's my own decision. So don’t bother trying to drive me away; you can't change my mind!" 0

Sighing inwardly, Xin Yi understood Roxy's meaning. Although her identity had always been a mystery to him, wasn't it a mystery he had intentionally allowed to persist? With the global intelligence network of Beng Hu Camp and Brother Three, investigating Roxy's true identity wouldn't be difficult at all. Yet Xin Yi had never asked anyone to investigate her. For someone who had experienced so much as a top assassin in this world, was it normal for such things to happen? Of course not! Why didn't he let anyone investigate Roxy's true identity? Perhaps it was fear—fear that once he learned her true identity, they would become complete enemies. At that point, there would be no room for reconciliation between them. But why would he fear that their relationship would reach a dead end? Because Roxy had already occupied a place in his heart; he just didn't dare admit this reality. 0

After hearing Roxy's words, Xin Yi fell silent. Since Roxy had said so much, any further words from him would seem overly sentimental. Everyone has the right to choose their own path; no matter how one chooses, as long as Roxy believes it is worth it, that's enough. Thus, Xin Yi and Roxy quickened their pace towards the mountain top. Even if there was only a one in ten thousand chance of escaping, they decided to seize that chance because death was not something worth taking lightly. 0

However, both of them knew that continuing like this would make escape impossible. They could now see the beams of powerful flashlights from behind them; looking down from above, the midsection of Yin-Yang Mountain was dotted with lights climbing towards the peak. Judging by the number of lights alone, there were at least a whole team of pursuers behind them. With just the two of them alone, there was absolutely no chance of breaking through—especially since Xin Yi was injured. Their only hope now was that there were no guards intercepting on the other side of Yin-Yang Mountain. If they could get over the peak, they might still escape down the mountain. Of course, that was just hope; who knew what situation awaited them on the other side? Fortunately, most of the pursuers were relatively slow because they had to search while climbing up. Only one small team tracking Xin Yi's blood trail moved quickly under the guidance of their hounds; they were now only about one hundred meters away vertically from Xin Yi. 0

Xin Yi looked up at the dark sky above; he couldn't tell how far away the peak was. If they were caught before reaching it, their chances of escape would be virtually zero. Once they engaged in gunfire with the pursuers, others would surely surround them upon hearing gunshots. At that point, their two guns and dozens of bullets wouldn't even be enough for a single round against them; perhaps they would be turned into Swiss cheese in just one exchange of fire. So now all they could do was speed up; however, Roxy supporting Xin Yi was already exhausted and panting heavily, causing their pace to slow down even more. Thus, Xin Yi broke off a branch as a makeshift cane and continued climbing laboriously while allowing Roxy some respite until she caught her breath again before resuming support for him. 0

For over an hour they climbed without stopping until finally they could see the bright moon not far above them at the peak; they were almost there! Both felt invigorated at this sight while glancing back revealed that the pursuers were now only about twenty meters away from their position but had yet to turn on their lights or make any noise—they simply hadn’t discovered them yet. 0

Once they crossed over the peak, going down should be faster since they could rush down without worrying about anything while the pursuers would still have to search for them and thus wouldn’t be able to move quickly either. So crossing over the peak would present an opportunity for change. As they approached the summit, Xin Yi felt his leg injury improving slightly; he pushed Roxy away and surprisingly walked quite fast with his cane. Finally summoning their last strength together, they reached the top of Yin-Yang Mountain. 0

As soon as they climbed up onto the summit, a gust of fierce wind hit them head-on nearly knocking them over; they quickly supported each other and bent down to stabilize themselves. Xin Yi found it strange how strong the wind was at this peak. Normally speaking, every mountain top has wind without question; however even if there is wind it shouldn’t be this fierce because wind is caused by rapid air movement which splits into three directions when obstructed by mountains—two directions go around either side while another moves upward over the peak itself—but generally mountain surfaces are covered with trees which mitigate wind strength so winds passing over peaks aren’t usually very strong. 0

Yet how could such strong winds exist at this not-so-high Yin-Yang Mountain? It seemed something wasn’t right; Xin Yi had an ominous premonition that perhaps Yin-Yang Mountain’s geological structure was somewhat special—he just didn’t know how special it actually was. 0

Supporting each other forward for some distance felt like wind speeds were increasing further; judging by how it felt against their bodies not only did it blow backward but also upward—their hair was being pulled straight up into the air! Why was this happening? Xin Yi couldn’t figure it out; everything around them was pitch black so they couldn’t see anything otherwise they might have deduced why such strange winds occurred based on terrain. 0

Meanwhile among the pursuing team behind them led by hounds a small squad had also reached the summit—this squad consisted of over ten men who followed blood trails dripping from Xin Yi’s wound while their main force remained over one hundred meters below searching carefully. As soon as this small squad crested over the peak they too were startled by that fierce wind; surprised that such strong winds existed atop Yin-Yang Mountain despite its low altitude—a soldier turned around against the wind shouting loudly: “Squad leader! Why is there such strong wind on this damn mountain? Is a typhoon coming? I didn’t see anything about it on weather reports!” 0

Another person was probably the sergeant that the soldier had just mentioned. He called everyone to retreat to the other side of the ridge, and soon the wind calmed down. This sergeant-like figure gathered everyone together and said loudly, "Brothers, we have definitely done the right thing by following the blood trail left by the hounds. So, this is our chance to make a contribution. Before the main force arrives, we need to catch the assassin. When it comes time for rewards, we'll surely be recognized for our efforts!" 0

"That's true," a soldier replied. "We followed the blood trail, but we can only confirm that the assassin made it to the top of the mountain. Who knows when they escaped down? I think we should wait here for the main force to arrive. Who knows how long it will take to catch up? Maybe the Leader will order us back to rest. After such a long night, I don't want to keep running around!" 0

"Damn you!" the sergeant cursed through gritted teeth. "It's you who keeps dragging our team back! If you want to go back and lie down, feel free! If you don't want to make a contribution, that's your choice too! Since that's how it is, you can wait here for the main force while we go after the assassin! Don't say I didn't take care of you when I achieve merit!" 0

"Go ahead if you want!" Ergouzi said as he plopped down on the ground, speaking sarcastically. "Always thinking about making contributions—what merit are you going to achieve? Do you know how far they’ve run? They might already be down at some tavern enjoying drinks and pig's head meat while living a good life. Only an idiot like you would think about catching an assassin. Whoever wants to go can go; I'm not moving anymore!" 0
