Lijie's hospital room is on the highest floor of the inpatient department, which is usually unoccupied unless a high-ranking official is admitted. At this moment, the lights in Lijie's room are off. Through the dim light filtering in from the corridor through the glass door, two beds can be seen, both occupied by sleeping figures, with only the shapes of their blankets indicating any movement.
Just then, two people approached from the corridor: a man who appeared to be a doctor and a woman who was a nurse. They reached the door of the room, glanced inside through the glass, looked around, and then pushed the door open to enter. However, they did not turn on the lights. Once inside, they suddenly drew handguns from beneath their white coats and aimed at the people in the beds, pulling the triggers. After several gunshots rang out, the occupants of the beds remained silent and motionless.
At that moment, the man who looked like a doctor turned on the lights in the room. The two of them rushed to the beds and pulled back the blankets. "Oh no! We've been tricked! Let's go!" The male doctor exclaimed as he realized that there was no one under the blankets—only a blanket shaped like a person. Understanding they had been deceived, he quickly urged his companion to flee.
The two of them scrambled out of the room in panic and hurried toward the elevator. However, the female nurse grabbed his arm just as he was about to step into the elevator and said, "Take the stairs!" The man nodded, and they dashed into the stairwell, racing downwards.
To their surprise, they encountered no obstacles or pursuers as they ran down. They descended more than ten flights of stairs before finally reaching the Outpatient Hall, panting heavily. The hall was bustling as usual, with no one paying attention to their arrival. They instinctively pulled their masks over their faces and walked toward the main entrance. Just as they were about to step outside, the male doctor suddenly felt someone grab his arm, startling him so much that he instinctively reached for his coat pocket. He heard a panicked female voice beside him say, "Doctor! Something's wrong in Obstetrics and Gynecology! You need to check it out!"
Turning around, he saw a terrified young nurse clutching his arm. The hand that had reached for his pocket quickly retreated as he asked in a low voice, "What happened?"
"I don't know! I don't know if she fainted or died!" The young nurse replied hurriedly. "The doctor and nurses are lying in the operating room; the patient is missing!" Clearly shaken, she struggled to articulate what had happened but held onto his arm tightly.
"What kind of nonsense is this? If something's wrong, you should report it to your supervisor or the hospital director! Why are you grabbing me? Let go!" The male doctor replied impatiently.
"No! I don't know... I just saw you and got scared. Can you help me?" The young nurse was nearly in tears, gripping his arm tightly as she continued. "It was a couple having a baby; after we brought her to the operating room, the doctor went to check on her. There was one doctor and three nurses in there—I was there too—but then one doctor asked me to go downstairs for some Oxytocin. When I returned, I saw that all three nurses were lying in blood in the operating room; both the mother and her husband were gone! I got scared and ran down..."
"Oh," said the male doctor thoughtfully. "Do you remember what that mother's husband looked like?"
"I remember... He was following us closely when we brought her into the operating room; he even tried to come inside but I stopped him," she said. "I saw him standing at the door when I went downstairs for medicine, but when I returned he was gone... Doctor, do you think that doctor and those two nurses are dead?"
"Yes, they are dead," replied the male doctor slowly. "They were killed by that couple—who told them to wear Angel in White uniforms but not act like Angels in White? Hehehe..." At this point, he let out a sinister laugh that made the young nurse's scalp tingle with fear; she instinctively released his arm and took a step back.
The Male Doctor no longer paid attention to her and walked out the door with the nurse. They got into a taxi parked outside. The young nurse felt something was off but couldn't quite put her finger on it. She just stared blankly as they climbed into the taxi. At that moment, the taxi window slid down, and a face without a hat or mask appeared, grinning at her. The young nurse screamed in fright and collapsed onto the floor. It wasn't until the taxi had left the hospital that she mumbled, "It's him, he's the husband of that patient, he's the murderer..."
It turned out that the two disguised as a doctor and nurse were Leixu and Jiang Lian. Not only did they impersonate the doctor and nurse, but they had also disguised themselves as the couple expecting a baby earlier. This was Jiang Lian's idea; she feared that entering like this would raise suspicions, so she stuffed a sofa cushion under her clothes to pretend to be pregnant, allowing Leixu to carry her into the hospital. Once inside, while the doctor and nurse were examining her, she suddenly pulled out a gun and forced the doctor to call and ask for the room numbers of the two individuals who had been shot today. After knocking out the doctor and nurse one by one, she and Leixu, who was dressed as her husband, changed into the doctor and nurse's uniforms and made their way to Lijie and Xin Yi's hospital room.
However, they never expected that there would be no one in that hospital room. After some searching, they only found a few holes in the blankets and sheets. Initially, they thought they had fallen into a trap set by Heavenly Pride Nation spies, but surprisingly, they faced no pursuit while escaping. This left them utterly perplexed. After getting into the taxi and leaving the hospital, Leixu asked Jiang Lian, "What do you think happened tonight? Could it have been that doctor playing tricks on us? Did he deliberately give us a wrong room number?"
Jiang Lian glanced at the Taxi Driver in front of them and noticed he wasn't paying attention to their conversation; he was focused on driving. She then quietly replied, "No, it shouldn't be that doctor playing tricks on us. Didn't you notice how the blanket on that bed was deliberately arranged to lure us in for an ambush? If it were that doctor scheming against us, there should have been nothing in that room."
"Yeah, I found it strange too," Leixu frowned and said. "Based on how that room was set up, they must have anticipated our return and staged it to lure us in. But if they expected us to come, why didn't they seize that opportunity to take us down? Could it be that they ran out of people? Is avoiding our pursuit their only option?"
Jiang Lian shook her head and said, "That can't be it. Given their connections with Guogan Military, even if they were short-handed, they could borrow personnel from Guogan Military. Don't you remember how Cao Borin's group did just that when they were captured last time? So it definitely isn't because of this."
"Then what could be the reason? Is all of this just coincidence?" Leixu asked with confusion written all over his face.
"It’s not coincidence; it’s been deliberately arranged." Suddenly a cold male voice interrupted them—it was the Taxi Driver. Leixu was taken aback and was about to ask why the Taxi Driver said that when he felt the car slowing down. Turning to look out the window, he realized they had unknowingly driven into an abandoned warehouse-like building. Startled, Leixu reached for his handgun concealed beneath his lab coat to aim at the Taxi Driver's head. However, before he could lift his hand, he suddenly felt a violent impact against the car window; with a loud crash, it shattered into pieces, showering him with glass shards and leaving cuts on his face and hands. In the next moment, he felt a cold gun barrel pressed against his temple. Jiang Lian received similar treatment on her side as well. The Taxi Driver then turned back with a smile and said, "We've arrived; get out now. I've saved you some fare—oh right, hand over your guns for safekeeping; I’m afraid you might accidentally shoot yourselves while trembling."
Realizing there was no escape now, Leixu and Jiang Lian understood that even if they didn’t take this taxi after leaving the hospital, others would likely be waiting for them to deliver themselves right into their hands. With no other options left at this point, they reluctantly surrendered their sidearms under threat of death and opened the car door to step out.
In front of them sat a muscular man dressed in black atop a wooden crate while five or six other black-clad individuals stood nearby with submachine guns at the ready. The man's muscles were taut under his clothing; his face bore an icy demeanor radiating an intimidating aura—clearly someone who had experienced real combat. After exiting the vehicle, the Taxi Driver addressed the Muscular Man in Black sitting in the middle: "Camp Commander, we've brought them here; these two were still discussing why no one pursued them in the hospital—hahaha... They probably think they're quite lucky."
"Well, their luck is indeed remarkable," replied the Black-Clad Man sitting in the center. "Dying at our hands isn't exactly unjust for them. By the way, where's Big Bull? He said he wanted to tear apart that bastard who injured his sister-in-law; let him handle execution so we can see how he rips people apart alive."
"I've already notified Instructor Niu; he said he'd arrive shortly," one of the black-clad men responded. "He should be here soon; there's no doubt Instructor Niu can rip someone apart alive with his strength—he could probably tear this little fatso and woman apart together in one go."
Leixu and Jiang Lian noticed that several men in black completely disregarded them, instead discussing how they would tear themselves apart. Leixu thought to himself, "What are they bragging about? This is just a scare tactic. I've never seen anyone who can actually tear a person apart. They must think they can intimidate me with these words, but they underestimate me. I've encountered real fighters before; how could I be frightened by a few ghostly words?"
