A window on the third floor of Lingxiao Pavilion was pushed open by a disheveled young woman. After struggling to climb through, she fell headfirst out of the window, landing first on the awning of the first floor, then rolling a few times before hitting the concrete ground at the entrance of Lingxiao Pavilion.
After throwing Shen Shanshan onto the bed, Josen turned to close the door. He approached a cabinet, pulled open a drawer, and took out a DV camera and a tripod. After setting up the tripod on the ground and securing the DV on top, he turned it on and adjusted the angle. Suddenly sensing something was off, he looked up to find that Shen Shanshan was missing from the bed! With the door still closed, where could she have gone?
A gust of wind lifted the curtains, and Josen dashed to the window. Peering down, he saw Shen Shanshan lying on the concrete below, her face covered in blood, surrounded by a large crowd of people. "Damn it! This stinking b*tch! Is she trying to kill me?" Josen cursed angrily.
It was Josen's last insane remark that awakened the last flicker of consciousness in Shen Shanshan's mind. With her final bit of clarity, she defended her innocence.
...
Xin Yi was at a tailor shop helping Big Bull get fitted for clothes. Big Bull had lost his luggage while being chased at the train station. Due to his massive size, he couldn't find suitable clothes in stores, so he had to go to a tailor shop. The old tailor was startled when he saw Big Bull bending down to enter. What kind of food did this person eat? Or is he a product of genetic mutation? Despite his surprise, he welcomed customers and eventually brought over a tall stool just to measure Big Bull's dimensions. As he measured, he muttered, "The fabric for your outfit could make three suits for someone else..."
At that moment, Xin Yi's phone suddenly rang. Since Shu Rui had bought him this phone, only Shu Rui and a few high-ranking members of the Three Tiger Group knew his number. Xin Yi glanced at the caller ID and answered, "Zhong Kai, what's going on?"
"Uh? ... A woman? ... Jumped off a building? Are you sure it's from Josen's room? ... Wait, what does she look like? Also, where did they come from? ... Alright Zhong Kai, you two immediately secure that room and don't let anyone touch anything inside! I'm nearby and will be there shortly!" After understanding the situation clearly, Xin Yi instructed over the phone. When Zhong Kai described the appearance of the girl who jumped and mentioned they had come from the Military District Command's family compound, Xin Yi's heart skipped a beat—could it be Shen Shanshan?
Xin Yi put away his phone and called out to Big Bull: "Big Bull, we have to go!" Although Big Bull was large, he moved with remarkable agility; without hesitation, he turned and followed Xin Yi out of the tailor shop, leaving behind the old tailor who stood on his stool holding a measuring tape in shock as they jumped into a car that sped away like an arrow. "Are these two extraordinary beings?" the old tailor muttered to himself.
Two figures burst out from a café across from Lingxiao Pavilion, skillfully dodging through heavy traffic before rushing into Lingxiao Pavilion's entrance. The screeching brakes caused several rear-end collisions on the road as they dashed directly into a private room on the third floor. Inside, Josen was still trying to tidy up his DV when Zhong Kai seized him by both arms and dragged him toward the door. Su Chaohui followed with several security personnel; upon seeing Josen restrained by Zhong Kai, they pulled out rubber clubs and charged at them. However, Su Chaohui and his men were no match for these two skilled fighters; within three minutes, they were all sprawled on the ground groaning in pain while Josen took advantage of the chaos to escape.
In an SUV, Xin Yi maneuvered swiftly through traffic while pulling out his phone to dial a number: "Hello, Director Lu? This is Xin Yi. A girl at Lingxiao Pavilion has been forced to jump off a building; the suspect has significant connections. I would like your Criminal Police Team to mobilize... Thank you! I'm also heading to the scene... Okay, I'll wait."
Lingxiao Pavilion was now in sight; however, due to multiple rear-end collisions blocking the road ahead, impatient drivers honked incessantly amidst chaos. Xin Yi sharply turned the steering wheel and drove onto the roadside greenery after knocking over several trash bins before finally stopping in front of Lingxiao Pavilion.
Xin Yi jumped out of the car before it had even come to a complete stop. Big Bull followed closely behind from the back seat. As Xin Yi was running, he suddenly caught sight of a running Audi nearby and turned to shout at Big Bull: "Stop that car! Capture the people inside!" Big Bull paused for a moment before turning and lunging towards the Audi.
Josen had just started the car when he suddenly saw a giant charging towards him. Realizing the danger, he quickly pressed down on the accelerator, trying to speed away. However, despite pressing the gas pedal hard, the car did not move forward. Josen leaned out to look, only to find that the giant had both hands gripping the front of his car, lifting it off the ground. With the car suspended in mid-air, there was no way it could move. Panic set in for Josen. He had initially planned to escape amidst the chaos and later arrange for a scapegoat to take the blame, thinking he could manage it with some money. But now, with the giant lifting his car, escape was impossible. "Let go! If you don't let go, I'll run you over!" Josen shouted angrily at the giant, foolishly threatening someone who had rendered his vehicle immobile.
The giant, instead of being intimidated by Josen's shout, chuckled and exerted his strength… With a loud crash, he flipped the entire car over onto its side. The windshield shattered into countless tiny pieces but remained attached to the frame. Inside, Josen was thrown upside down along with the vehicle. After flipping the car, the giant walked over to the driver's side and smashed the window with a punch. He reached in and grabbed Josen's legs, pulling him out through the window. The giant held Josen by one leg and lifted him up for a better look, grinning as he said, "Now let's see where you think you're going." With that, he began walking towards where Xin Yi was.
Meanwhile, Xin Yi had reached the entrance of Lingxiao Pavilion, shouting loudly: "Make way! Make way!" As he pushed through the crowd, he saw Shen Shanshan lying on the concrete ground, covered in blood with several tears in her clothing revealing her pale skin underneath. "Shen Shanshan, how are you?" Xin Yi called out as he quickly crouched down and took off his outer jacket to cover her.
Lying on the ground, Shen Shanshan showed no signs of life; she appeared unconscious. In a hurry, Xin Yi placed two fingers on her carotid artery and sighed in relief when he felt a pulse—she seemed to have just fainted from her fall. Looking up with icy determination, he scanned the crowd surrounding them; many people stepped back in fear from his gaze. "Has anyone called an ambulance?" he asked.
"Yes, yes! Someone has already called; it should be here soon," an older man replied.
"Everyone step back! Crowding like this isn't good for air circulation! Don't you have any common sense? Quickly disperse! You! Go find an umbrella and a fan!" Xin Yi shouted at a young man in the crowd. Although some people moved back slightly, many were reluctant to leave; their morbid curiosity kept them glued to the scene under the scorching sun—how pathetic! It was truly tragic that people would only watch without helping.
Only that young man hurried off to find an umbrella and fan. After a while, he actually returned with both items. Not knowing how serious Shen Shanshan's condition was and afraid to move her too much, Xin Yi held up the umbrella with one hand while using the fan with the other to gently cool her down. "Shen Shanshan, wake up…" he called out repeatedly, hoping to rouse her consciousness. Whether it was due to the shade or gentle breeze or perhaps his calls that worked, Shen Shanshan's eyelashes fluttered before she opened her eyes. Seeing Xin Yi's anxious expression made her smile suddenly; tears streamed down her cheeks and dripped onto the ground.
"Xin Yi, you finally came… I… I didn’t let him succeed…" she said weakly as she struggled to lift one hand. Quickly dropping the fan, Xin Yi reached out his hand toward her. She grasped his hand tightly and smiled again: "Don’t leave me again… I’m scared…" With that, her head tilted and she fainted once more.
"I won’t leave you; never!" Xin Yi replied through gritted teeth while feeling something wet welling up in his eyes.
"Brother Xin, what should we do with this person?" It was then that Big Bull arrived carrying Josen. The crowd quickly dispersed again at the sight of him; no one wanted to be too close to such a massive figure—who knew what might happen if he were in a bad mood? No one wanted to experience being carried like that; just look at how red-faced Josen was from being held upside down—he must have been struggling for air—but still continued thrashing about with his arms and one free leg trying to hit Big Bull. However, this was utterly futile; with such long arms holding him straight up like that, he posed no threat whatsoever to Big Bull. Instead, his struggles only made him swing around like a clown performing tricks in a circus.
"Just keep holding him like that until the police arrive; we’ll hand him over then," Xin Yi said coldly as he shot a deadly glare at Josen.
The ambulance could not get through due to traffic congestion, and only a few paramedics rushed over with a stretcher. After quickly checking Shen Shanshan, the paramedics simultaneously moved her onto the stretcher and lifted it to carry her out. However, the unconscious Shen Shanshan tightly held onto Xin Yi's hand, making it impossible to separate them. Xin Yi had no choice but to follow the stretcher, while taking out the car keys and tossing them to Big Bull, saying, "Take this person up to the third floor to find someone named Zhong Kai. Follow his instructions, and when Zhong Kai returns, have him drive my car back. I'm heading to the hospital now."
The paramedics assumed that Xin Yi was the injured person's spouse or relative, so they allowed Xin Yi to accompany them in the ambulance. The ambulance sped towards the hospital with its sirens wailing, while the medical staff provided routine emergency treatment for Shen Shanshan. After about ten minutes, the ambulance arrived at Longchuan City First People's Hospital. Outside the operating room, Xin Yi finally pried open Shen Shanshan's fingers to free her hand.
Xin Yi's hand had turned white from being squeezed by Shen Shanshan, a result of restricted blood flow. How could such a fragile woman exert so much strength? Unless she truly did not want Xin Yi to leave her...
