The penetration of the Wolf Eye Water Electric Light is extremely strong, so even in the endless rain, Li Nan can still see the situation downstairs clearly!
Li Dapeng leaned in, following the beam of the flashlight, and saw that a dense swarm of Zombies had already surged under the Small Buildings. He couldn't help but exclaim, "What’s going on?"
Li Nan's mind also momentarily short-circuited, but after ten seconds, he finally reacted completely. "Not good, we are being besieged by Zombies. We need to get out of here quickly!"
Li Nan turned around and ran back into the room, waking the still-sleeping Mo Xiaohui. "Quickly grab your Climbing Pick; the situation here is not optimistic!"
Mo Xiaohui, with sleepy eyes, saw Li Nan beside him and was unconcerned. "It’s not even dawn yet; why are you waking me up?"
At that moment, Li Dapeng rushed in as well, shouting loudly, "Zombies are already charging in! What should we do?"
Hearing Li Dapeng's words, Li Nan immediately furrowed his brows. "We charge out; I'll cover you!"
Mo Xiaohui didn't understand what these two men were talking about. After a moment of gathering her thoughts, she finally said in disbelief, "There can't be Zombies breaking in!"
Before Mo Xiaohui could close her mouth, Li Nan sighed and said, "It's a horde of Zombies breaking in. Whether we can escape with our lives this time depends on our luck!"
As they spoke, Mo Xiaohui had already crawled out from under the blanket and grabbed her Climbing Pick from beside her pillow, holding it firmly.
Li Nan gritted his teeth and said to the two beside him, "Grab your weapons; we need to rush out quickly. We can't delay!"
Mo Xiaohui slung her Backpack over her shoulder and wanted to grab other things, but Li Nan shouted, "Our lives are at stake; what good will bringing so much stuff do? Are you trying to bury yourself with it?"
Just as Mo Xiaohui hesitated, two Zombies had already burst into the room. Upon smelling several living humans, they lunged forward frantically.
Li Dapeng held a Wooden Stick and feinted with his body. He seized the opportunity to swing directly at one of them. Unfortunately, his strength was insufficient; despite having a Wooden Stick, he inflicted no substantial damage on the Zombie.
Li Nan suddenly stepped forward, swinging the Fire Axe in his hand, which immediately cleaved the Zombie in half at the mouth, creating a gruesome scene.
Another Zombie paid no attention to its companion being cut in two and, driven by an insatiable hunger for flesh, lunged directly at Li Dapeng.
Li Dapeng's Wooden Stick was as tall as he was, making it cumbersome to maneuver. When the Zombie lunged at him, his stick got stuck in a groove on the ground.
Li Dapeng felt an ugly face approaching him, and the owner of that face had dark saliva dripping greedily from the corners of its mouth.
"Am I really going to die?" Li Dapeng thought to himself. Just as despair set in, the Zombie that was inches away from him suddenly paused. A pair of hands pressed down on the Zombie's head, and a voice said, "What are you waiting for? Hurry up and go!"
The speaker was Mo Xiaohui. She no longer lingered over supplies, simply slinging a Backpack onto her back and then plunging a shovel into the back of the Zombie attacking Li Dapeng, causing it to fall straight to the ground.
Mo Xiaohui grabbed Li Dapeng's hand. "Run! Stay behind Li Nan!"
Li Nan led the way with his axe in hand. After taking down two Zombies, more than ten more surged forward continuously!
Li Nan fought like a warrior possessed, swinging his axe horizontally and vertically. Whenever a Zombie approached, he delivered a flying kick, finally carving out a path through the tide of corpses.
Once they exited the room, they found themselves surrounded by Zombies on all sides. Li Nan, Mo Xiaohui, and Li Dapeng were forced to stand back-to-back, keeping watch over their surroundings.
Li Nan pulled a Screwdriver from his waist and tossed it to Li Dapeng. "This is more suitable for you. Remember, aim for the Zombie's head and don't hold back!"
Unfortunately, Zombies were not human; they lacked thought and did not understand fear. They only knew how to kill and revel in bloodshed. The trio standing together offered little protection.
Sweat poured down Li Nan's forehead as his Fire Axe became stained with Black Blood. Yet the Zombies inside the Small Buildings showed no signs of diminishing; they seemed endless.
Mo Xiaohui let her hair fall messily, obscuring most of her vision, while the Climbing Pick in her hand swung continuously, knocking out the eyes of one Zombie and hooking off the nose of another. Yet those Zombies still surged forward like frenzied wild dogs.
"This isn't a solution; we can't break through!" Mo Xiaohui shouted, her voice already hoarse.
Li Nan understood the situation as well; there was no chance of escape. However, he couldn't give up. He wasn't fighting alone; he had a woman and a child to protect.
Suddenly, an endless surge of power erupted from Li Nan. As he approached the balcony, he kicked out with one foot, directly toppling over a dozen Zombies. Then he stood on the balcony railing and looked down; the Zombies below were like a tide.
Li Nan let out a loud roar, his arms bulging with veins as he gathered all his strength. He slammed both palms against the balcony railing, causing it to tilt under the force and ultimately break free from the wall.
With the iron railing in hand, Li Nan swept it horizontally, creating a clear space with a diameter of about three meters that kept the Zombies at bay.
Li Nan felt his strength waning but couldn't stop; he had to leave a way out for the two behind him.
Summoning his last ounce of energy, Li Nan stomped hard on the balcony. Mo Xiaohui was puzzled by Li Nan's intentions. "What are you doing? Even if we have no chance of survival, we don't need to..."
Suddenly, Mo Xiaohui heard the floor beneath her feet crack with a "snap." Looking at Li Nan, she realized that the balcony he was standing on had already split open.
Li Nan sensed that the moment was right. With one final stomp, a two-meter square concrete slab fell straight down.
Mo Xiaohui stared in shock, astonished, while Li Nan shouted loudly, "You two jump down quickly! There's no time left!"
The concrete slab below the balcony wasn't large in area but weighed several tons. When it crashed down, it smashed dozens of Zombies into pulp.
Li Nan yelled, "Jump down! After you jump, run quickly..." His voice was hoarse from shouting. Without a moment's hesitation, Mo Xiaohui and Li Dapeng jumped directly down from the second-floor gap.
The two people swayed, their feet tingling, and they jumped onto the floor, while the severed hands and feet below continued to claw at the air.
Mo Xiaohui turned back to glance at Li Nan, who was still on the upper floor, and a sense of sorrow suddenly welled up in her heart.
Li Dapeng, beside Mo Xiaohui, after stepping on several severed limbs, shouted to her, "Hurry up and go! The zombies behind are already catching up!"
Mo Xiaohui hesitated, "He hasn't come down yet?"
Li Dapeng's eyes glistened with tears as he unleashed a strength that didn't seem typical for a child. He grabbed Mo Xiaohui's arm and ran outside. "He told me when he gave me the screwdriver that I must ensure your safety. I can't go back on my word!"
In the pouring rain, the faces of the two who had already escaped the Small Buildings were completely soaked.
Inside the Small Buildings, Li Nan tossed aside his axe and tightly gripped a two-meter-long iron rod, sweeping it horizontally and vertically. However, he ultimately could not withstand the tide of zombies!
Li Nan cursed inwardly, "Damn it! If you push me to this point today, don't let me find a way to get back at you later; otherwise, I'll turn you all into a can of meat sauce!"
He turned to look at Mo Xiaohui and Li Dapeng. Seeing their shadows had completely shaken off the pursuit of the zombies, he felt slightly relieved. Just then, a dozen zombies surged forward and knocked Li Nan down to the floor below.
With a loud crash, Li Nan felt as if his spine might break.
He landed hard on the precast floor and immediately spat out a mouthful of blood. The strength drained from his body, and he felt like a deflated balloon with no power left to support him.
Gritting his teeth, Li Nan watched as the zombies on the second floor saw their companion fall and without hesitation followed suit. It was as if someone was dropping dumplings; each one rushed forward in succession, fearing they would be too late to grab even a bone fragment.
A wave of Zombies jumped down from the second floor, while those already lurking on the ground sensed the commotion and rushed over. In an instant, it felt like a chaotic scene of demons dancing around, ready to feast on Tang Seng Meat.
Li Nan grinned, his eyelids swollen from debris falling from above, forcing him to squint as he looked at the final moments before his execution.
At that moment, one Zombie was caught among the many others, and surprisingly, it was wearing a raincoat draped over its body.
Li Nan's heart sank in shock. "That raincoat... isn't it the one I threw away in the warehouse? Could these Zombies be the same ones from earlier today?"
A chilling sweat soaked through him. Li Nan had already become numb to death; he simply felt it was very strange that the sturdy warehouse could be breached by Zombies.
As death approached, the best way to face it was with calmness. Although a huge question loomed in Li Nan's mind, it no longer mattered; he was about to be torn to shreds by the relentless tide of corpses!
Li Nan closed his already swollen eyes and thought, "So this is how it ends. What a damn tragedy!"
Just when Li Nan felt powerless and believed he was doomed, a bright light from a large vehicle suddenly flashed by, followed immediately by the roaring sound of an engine.
A speeding truck came barreling through, completely disregarding the Zombies in its path. After knocking over several of them, it finally came to a stop right in front of Li Nan. A boy jumped out and shouted, "Get in the car!"
