Li Nan was already surprised to see Han Guang outside the hospital, but he didn't expect dozens of dark green trucks to arrive at midnight. The strangeness of the atmosphere was something only those involved could truly understand.
When Mo Xiaohui saw a strong beam of headlights approaching, she immediately pressed herself against Li Nan's back, quiet as a hiding kitten.
Suddenly, two warm bodies pressed against his back, which startled Li Nan. However, given the situation, it was clearly not the time for daydreaming, as right before him, countless figures jumped down from the dozens of dark green trucks.
In contrast to Li Nan and Mo Xiaohui's confusion, Han Guang remained calm.

Although the night was dark, the dazzling flashes of the headlights allowed Li Nan to observe several figures jumping from the trucks; they were all dressed in green camouflage uniforms.

At that moment, Li Nan set Mo Xiaohui down on the ground. She balanced on one foot while using her left hand to support Li Nan's arm until she steadied herself.
"Did you come out from Jiangbei Hospital?" the inspecting soldier asked.
Li Nan had never experienced being searched by the People's Liberation Army before and could only respond seriously, "We just came out of the hospital and were about to head home!"
The soldier had a serious expression: "Since you're just out, it won't be a hassle to go back again!"

In the night shift system, there were clearly no titles like director; at this moment, the highest-ranking person in Jiangbei Hospital was a Deputy Director in charge of outpatient services.
Deputy Director Liu stepped out from the crowd and asked the military leader among them, "Is it inappropriate for our Jiangbei First Hospital, which is under the Provincial Health Department, to have such arrangements tonight?"
The military man replied politely, "May I ask who this is?"
Deputy Director Liu responded, "I am the Outpatient Department Deputy Director, Liu Heping!"
The officer laughed heartily and said, "To be honest, the military order to seal off your Jiangbei Hospital did not come from our Jiangbei Military District. If you have any objections, go to Central Command. We are just following orders. All operations at Jiangbei Hospital will proceed normally until the relevant epidemic prevention personnel arrive, but no one is allowed to leave—doctors and patients alike!"
Deputy Director Liu was left embarrassed and frustrated. However, the other party had made their stance clear. What could he do? The military was not easy to deal with, especially when it involved Central Command. Had Jiangbei Hospital committed some political error? That shouldn't be the case! Deputy Director Liu's mind was in turmoil, unable to grasp the key point of the situation, and he could only retreat in defeat.
The military's large-scale actions had already frightened everyone in the hospital. Now, nearly a hundred people had gathered in the hospital lobby, most of them wearing white coats or nurse uniforms.

"Are you saying that the people from Jiangbei Military District are here because of that criminal from tonight? But wasn't he already killed? Why are they imposing martial law on Jiangbei Hospital?" Mo Xiaohui bombarded Li Nan with questions, leaving him stunned.
Han Guang stopped smiling and said, "Regarding the Beiyuan case, that suspect was not killed; he was captured by people from Jiangbei Military District!"
Upon hearing this, Li Nan's eyes widened as he suddenly realized and exclaimed, "That red-eyed person wasn't killed! You guys at Jiangbei Police Station were just acting on the orders of Jiangbei Military District to calm public sentiment. Involving the military in a simple face-eating case and telling such a huge lie to the public must mean there’s more to this case—something much more significant!"
Han Guang said quietly, "This case is indeed unusual. That red-eyed criminal is unafraid of gunshot wounds, which defies human capabilities and is truly baffling. That's why it has attracted the attention of the Jiangbei Military District. They dispatched an elite unit, along with aerial control, to finally capture that criminal with rebar. However, what happened afterward is no longer under the police's control!"
Mo Xiaohui exclaimed in disbelief, "That person is clearly a Zombie! Clearly a Zombie!"
Han Guang couldn't define what that person truly was, but he was certain they were not normal. The current situation was evidently beyond anyone's control.
Li Nan gathered all the information and couldn't help but feel overwhelmed. Perhaps Mo Xiaohui was right; that kind of thing could only be called a Zombie. After the military captured that so-called Zombie, they realized the severity of the situation and decided to control all locations and individuals that had come into contact with it. Jiangbei Hospital was precisely where patients from Beiyuan Square were being treated.
If that Red-Eyed Man was a Zombie, what would happen to those bitten by the Zombie?
With this thought, cold sweat drenched Li Nan's back. He sprang into action like a tightly wound spring.
At the entrance of the hospital lobby, a group of soldiers in green camouflage surrounded the area, guns in hand, not allowing anyone to pass. These well-trained soldiers were cultivated as war machines, so their combat skills and marksmanship were not comparable to ordinary police officers. When they suddenly saw a shadow rush out from the crowd in the lobby, their first reaction was not to stop it but to open fire; their fingers were ready to pull the trigger at any moment.
"Company Commander, I have important information to share!" As Li Nan entered, he noticed an officer with a bar and three stars on his shoulder and deduced that the officer held the rank of Captain, which corresponded to Company Commander.
The person who had just spoken paused for a moment. "Are you talking to me?"
Although Li Nan ran fast, he stopped about ten meters away from the Company Commander. At that moment, the Company Commander waved his hand, preventing several soldiers behind him from turning Li Nan into a target; however, they still maintained their aiming positions.
Li Nan gasped for breath and said, "I have something to say; can we talk privately?"
The Company Commander hesitated slightly. "My last name is Zhang. You are one of those who were just interrogated, right?"
Seeing that his words did not earn Captain Zhang Li's trust, Li Nan replied, "My name is Li Nan. I am a firsthand witness of the Beiyuan Square Incident. I have some important things to tell you!"
Zhang Li looked at the person in front of him and smiled at the one behind, saying, "You go and hand over with Deputy Director Liu, confirm if there are any medical staff or patients on duty tonight who might have escaped. Li Nan, come with me!"
Under everyone's gaze, Li Nan stepped out of the Jiangbei Hospital's main entrance. He felt the natural breeze blowing outside, and his nerves suddenly relaxed, causing him to stop in his tracks.
Zhang Li took out a pack of cigarettes from his pocket and lit one up, shielding it with his palm.

Li Nan replied with a single sentence: "If what’s out there tonight is a Zombie, then it definitely won’t be peaceful in the Morgue beneath Jiangbei Hospital!"
Zhang Li's expression tightened suddenly. "What Zombies? You must have watched too many movies!"
Seeing the change in Zhang Li's expression, Li Nan asserted, "Do you really know nothing about what happened at Beiyuan Square tonight? If that thing isn't a Zombie, then what is it?"
Zhang Li's face was devoid of any fat, marked only by cold lines. He simply said, "I don’t know what that thing is. The order I received is to control Jiangbei Hospital; no person or item is allowed to leave. Your information has nothing to do with me!"
Li Nan suddenly reached out his right hand and pulled a burning cigarette butt from Zhang Li's mouth, tossing it to the ground. He exclaimed, "If a Zombie outbreak occurs, neither you nor your brothers will escape. Everyone in Jiangbei City will be doomed as well. I have already confirmed that thing is a Zombie; do you still have doubts? A single infected criminal can infect three corpses, and those three corpses can infect the entire Jiangbei Hospital. The spread effect is severe; how could you not know?"
Zhang Li's face turned extremely grim: "I am a soldier; I only obey orders!"
