That night, Li Jiang came home with the paternity report, saying that the results for the child and my brother had come out.
I took the report, my hands trembling uncontrollably. The results were the same as what I had seen in my previous life.
Li Jiang looked at me with concern and asked, "What's wrong, Yin Yin?"
I looked at him, hesitating to speak. I didn't know how to explain this to him. I shook my head and forced a smile, saying, "It's nothing, maybe I just didn't sleep well."
Li Jiang held me tightly and whispered, "Yin Yin, if something is bothering you, you must tell me, okay?"
I nodded and buried my face in his chest. In that moment, my heart was in turmoil. The child wasn't my brother's; what would our mother do? What would my brother do when he found out?
I felt uneasy, my eyelids twitching incessantly. Unable to shake off my worries, I asked the nanny to look after Jingjing and took a taxi to my mother's place.
When I arrived at my mother's house, I found the door slightly ajar. Inside, I heard a series of anguished screams.
I hurried inside and discovered the house in disarray. My brother was gripping Wang Bing's hair and slamming her down on the floor, punching her repeatedly.
Wang Bing was powerless to fight back and could only plead for mercy.
When Li Jiang saw me, he looked somewhat angry. "Yin Yin, why did you come here too?"
Seeing me arrive, Wang Bing laughed maniacally. She pointed at me and shouted loudly, "Lu Tian, don't listen to Lu Yinyin's nonsense; she set me up to make me cheat!"
"Lu Yinyin, you bitch, you set me up to cheat just to put a green hat on your brother!"
"Lu Tian, your head is greener than a prairie, you coward, you've been played by Lu Yinyin!"
Hearing this, my brother became even angrier.
He grabbed Wang Bing by the hair and dragged her out of the room.
Wang Bing's child, Lu Haitian, was left on the floor.
He cried loudly, shouting, "Mommy, I want Mommy! Daddy is a bad guy! I want my godfather! I want my godfather!"
My brother, furious at this, threw the child out.
Lu Haitian's head hit the ground with a thud.
Wang Bing scrambled over, cradling her child in her arms.
"Haitian, Haitian, are you okay? Don't scare Mommy!"
Wang Bing cried out hoarsely, repeatedly calling her child's name.
My brother rushed over and kicked Wang Bing, shouting angrily, "Bitch, how dare you cheat on me!"
Wang Bing cried and begged for mercy, "I was wrong, I was wrong! I won't do it again, please let me go!"
"I beg you, don't hit me anymore! I can't take it!"
Li Jiang rushed in and hugged my brother to stop him from hitting her again.
I stood there in a daze, watching Wang Bing and the child.
Wang Bing had lost all her previous arrogance; she lay on the ground like a dead dog.
She kept begging for mercy and bowing her head.
Her child, Lu Haitian, had a pale face with blood at the corner of his mouth.
I quickly ran over and picked up the child.
"Wang Bing, your child is in critical condition! Hurry and take him to the hospital!"
Wang Bing paused for a moment before jumping up and rushing over to hold her child.
"Haitian, Haitian, are you okay? Don't scare Mommy!"
I held the child while Li Jiang held Jingjing, quickly heading downstairs to drive to the hospital. By the time we arrived at the hospital, the child was barely breathing. The doctor performed emergency resuscitation, and the child was temporarily out of danger but still needed to be monitored. As for my brother, the neighbors heard the fight and called the police, so he was taken away by the officers.
