"Xinran, I can't believe how delicious your cooking is. It looks like I'll have to come over for meals more often," Shinohara Ryo said, enjoying the dinner prepared by Xinran. She picked up a piece of steamed fish and waved her chopsticks teasingly at Takahashi Ryu.
She knew that Godfather had deliberately instructed Huang Ma to tell Xinran that he never liked fish, but in reality, his love for fish was far from ordinary. Godfather was truly adorable; he would rather endure the suffering of not eating what he liked just to make things difficult for Xinran.
"As long as Miss Shinohara enjoys it," Xinran replied lightly, taking small bites of her rice. The large dining table only had three people: her, Shinohara Ryo, and Old Master. As for Takeuchi Yasuko, she was naturally busy showcasing her virtues and tenderness as the future Dongshan Family Future Lady by serving the already prepared dishes.
"Hmph!" Takahashi Ryu snorted coldly. "How good can it be? You know I don't eat fish, yet you made it on purpose. I wonder if you're holding a grudge against me!"
He had to admit that this girl had excellent culinary skills; the food she made suited his taste perfectly. However, he certainly couldn't praise her openly, so he decided to use this steamed fish to tease her instead.
"Old Master, please don't overthink it. I know you don't eat fish, but it's good for your health to have some. I hope you can try it before refusing. If it makes you uncomfortable, just say so, and I won't serve fish at the table again next time!" Xinran explained cheerfully, ignoring Takahashi Ryu's provocation.
She had coincidentally caught a whiff of the fresh fish flavor in the soup served to Old Master during his afternoon meal, so she guessed that Old Master was just trying to make things difficult for her by claiming he never ate fish. He must dislike her and was finding ways to bully her; there was no reason for her to stoop to his level! Moreover, she had promised Mu Shaosi that she would not argue with his grandfather; she just wanted to get through this last month peacefully without causing any waves.
"Godfather, would you like to try some? Xinran means well!" Shinohara Ryo smiled at Takahashi Ryu.
"No need, and I don't want to see any dishes with fish in the future!" Takahashi Ryu slammed his chopsticks down and stood up from the table. "Xiao Lang, come to my study after you're done."
Xinran merely nodded calmly and continued eating. She showed no signs of fear or anxiety towards Takahashi Ryu's anger; she simply remained silent.
Shinohara Ryo leaned over and said to Xinran, "Don't take what Godfather says too seriously; otherwise..."
"That's okay, I don't mind. But still, thank you, Miss Shinohara!" Xinran interrupted Shinohara Ryo's words and replied.
"Yeah! As long as you don't mind!" Shinohara Ryo shrugged, put down her utensils, and got up to leave. This was one of the reasons she liked Summer; this woman, unlike her who had always survived in the Underworld, possessed a calm demeanor very similar to her own. She didn't act like other women, seeking attention with pouting or causing trouble. Moreover, she had even put herself in harm's way for Young Master Si, which was another reason Ryo admired her. There were very few women with such courage.
She had also mentioned to Godfather that it was obvious Summer had already passed Godfather's test. Now he was merely toying with Young Master Si and Summer, enjoying himself thoroughly. As for her, she was just there to watch the fun; after all, she wasn't an important figure!
"Godfather, what do you need me for?" Shinohara Ryo stepped into Takahashi Ryu's study and saw him wearing glasses, seemingly engrossed in something.
"My good daughter, Godfather is pondering how to give that brat and the girl a solid blow. Look, I've had someone bring me this. With this, that brat is definitely going to suffer!"
"What is this..." Shinohara Ryo stepped forward and took the vial from Takahashi Ryu's hand, hesitating as she asked, "A drug? Is Godfather planning to use it on Young Master Si or Xinran?"
