Xinran and Wujie walked out of the airport with their suitcases and immediately spotted Jerry's car parked by the roadside. Initially, Jerry had been delayed and couldn't join them on their trip to Japan. Xinran had thought that once she started working, Jerry would come to meet them, but unexpectedly, before Jerry could make it to Japan, she had already returned.
Seeing the two women approach, Jerry got out of the car, walked over to take their suitcases, and placed them in the trunk. He then opened the car door for Xinran and waited until she was seated before getting in himself. He held the steering wheel but did not start the car; instead, he turned around to look at Xinran, who was leaning against the seat back and appeared tired, hesitating as if he wanted to say something.
After a minute or two, Xinran slowly opened her eyes and looked at Jerry with a hint of confusion. She asked, "Fan Jierui, why aren't you driving? You look like you have something to say but aren't saying it. What do you want? Are you trying to explain why you didn't go with us to Japan? Just drive first; we can talk about what you want to say after I get some rest."
"Wujie, you're tired too; you should sleep for a bit. You didn't rest well on the plane!" After speaking to Jerry, Xinran turned her head to Wujie beside her.
"Xinran, I really have something I want to tell you, but I'm not sure if I should say it. However, this matter doesn't concern me!" Jerry cleared his throat and hesitantly began.
"Then who does it concern? Me?" Xinran straightened up and scrutinized Jerry's face, waiting for him to continue.
"Yes!" Jerry nodded and continued, "You wouldn't know since you've been in Japan these past few days, but the media has gone wild. Xia Sheng Group is under investigation due to internal asset issues, and the person in charge, Xia Wenjun, has been temporarily detained. It seems that Xia Sheng Group has become a mess; I've even seen magazines reporting that the major shareholders have changed hands and are no longer your family."
"Aside from my dad, they were never my family!" Xinran scoffed. "Fortunately, I didn't accept that 10% stake back then; otherwise, I would have been dragged into this mess as well. So who is this new major shareholder? Is my dad going to be okay with Xia Wenjun being implicated?"
"I think your father should be fine; at least the media hasn't reported anything about him. This morning, all the shareholders gathered in Xia Sheng's conference room for a meeting to elect a new president. I believe there should be results by now..."
"I need to see my dad; even if the media hasn't said anything, I'm still worried! But I'm more curious about who this mysterious person with the most shares is. My aunts have always kept a tight grip on my dad's shares; how could someone manage to acquire them all?"
"The identity of this person won't be a secret for long; I expect the media will reveal it soon!" Seeing that Xinran seemed unaffected by the situation with Xia Sheng Group, Jerry finally started the car and drove off.
"Sister Xinran, why didn't you want that 10% share back then?" Along the way, Wujie suddenly asked curiously.
"Because you, Sister Xinran, looked down on it. I thought Xia Sheng's incident would affect your mood to some extent, but it seems I was overthinking!" Jerry skillfully turned the steering wheel and turned back to tease with a smile.
"I'm not that dramatic. I just prefer peace. If I took that 10% share, I would lose my original tranquility, and it would be hard to regain it!" Xinran truly understood the personalities of that troublesome mother-daughter duo, which is why she made such a decision. She didn't want to put her dad in a difficult position, nor did she want to make things hard for herself. If she had to see the nauseating sisters Xia Wenyiyi and Xia Wenjing frequently, she would go crazy. Although they couldn't hurt her in any way, her mood would definitely be affected, wouldn't it?
