The intense exercise in the morning caused Xinran to fall asleep again. When she woke up, she realized it was already dark outside, and the culprit who had made her sleep all day had long since disappeared. 0

Stretching lazily, Xinran got out of bed and put on the robe that had been cast aside during their fierce battle last night, covering her figure. She opened the door and walked straight out; the entire second-floor corridor was somewhat dim, and a strange sense of unease began to linger around her. Dong Shan Zhong had left silently, without leaving any message or note, which left Xinran feeling somewhat at a loss. 0

In their interactions, it had never been her who held the upper hand. Every word he spoke and every action he took left no room for her to argue, so she had never been able to understand him. At first, it might not have mattered, but since last night, when she crossed that line of defense, everything seemed to have changed. 0

As she walked down to the first floor, she couldn't help but smile wryly. Even if Dong Shan Zhong was not there, there should be someone else around, right? Was she really the only one in this vast villa? If this was his residence, how much did he value his privacy? Or how much did he enjoy being alone? 0

“Dong Shan Zhong?” she called out. 0

“Dong Shan Zhong, are you even here?” Not willing to give up, she shouted again. 0

“Looking for me?” Suddenly someone embraced her from behind. Xinran shivered slightly but calmed down upon catching his familiar scent. 0

“Where did you go? I didn't see you when I woke up.” 0

“And then you got scared, afraid that I would leave you behind, right?” Dong Shan Zhong held Xinran tighter, resting his chin on the top of her head. 0

“Would you?” 0

“Hahaha, what do you want me to say? That I promise I will never leave you for a lifetime? Women seem to really want to hear that promise from men!” Dong Shan Zhong suddenly laughed, though the amusement didn’t reach his eyes. 0

“I don’t care about a lifetime; I only care about this moment. You should know that you are the master here; I’m just a guest. The host wouldn’t just leave a guest behind and walk away, right?” Xinran broke free from Dong Shan Zhong's embrace and turned to face him, teasing lightly. 0

When he spoke those words, she could hear the sarcasm in his tone. He was not wrong; women all hoped to hear a lifetime commitment from men. She was a woman too, but she was also sensible. Before he clarified their true relationship, she would not be foolish enough to expect any promises from a man like him. He was a man she could not control, and she always remembered that, constantly reminding herself. 0

After hearing Xinran's words, Dong Shan Zhong merely raised the corners of his mouth silently. She was indeed an incredibly intelligent woman, no wonder Shaoyang had chosen her; he must have guessed that she had enough fighting spirit! 0

"I didn't expect you to wake up so quickly. After all, I nearly exhausted you to tears, didn't I?" He raised an eyebrow and sighed as if concerned. 0

"It seems my stamina has been underestimated!" Xinran replied coldly, the wariness she had felt just moments ago still lingering. 0

"Alright, it's my fault. Come on, let's get something to eat. You must be hungry by now. After we eat, I'll take you to see the seaside at night. You insisted on getting drunk last night and wasted the beautiful scenery here!" Dong Shan Zhong leaned in and pulled Xinran closer, resting his arm on her shoulder as he coaxed her. 0

"Sure, it's rare to have the opportunity to visit such a castle; it would indeed be a pity not to explore it properly." Xinran nodded and followed Dong Shan Zhong toward the restaurant. 0

She never considered herself a clever woman, but she could tell when Dong Shan Zhong showed even a hint of weakness. She would no longer pretend to be indifferent or aloof because she knew she had no right to do so. To be honest, they were at most just enjoying a fleeting moment together; perhaps they would part ways tomorrow without a second thought! 0
