"Ranran, what are you talking about?" Xia Mingda was somewhat surprised, his hand holding the document frozen in mid-air.
"Dad, I can't take this 10% of the shares; they don't belong to me. I think if I took them, I would feel uneasy," Xinran said lightly, a smile curving her lips.
"Silly child, what do you mean they don't belong to you? They belong to your father, and it's only right for me to transfer them to you!"
"Summer, stop pretending to be kind while crying like a cat. You wouldn't want those shares; you're really good at acting! Hmph!" At that moment, Xia Wenjing's voice suddenly interrupted, reigniting the already dimmed flames of conflict.
"Wen Jing, you seem to have forgotten that she is an actress; acting is her forte..." On the other side, Xia Wenyiyi coldly interjected, crossing her arms. She glared at Xinran with a complex gaze filled with hatred and anger.
Xinran turned her gaze towards Xia Wenjing and Xia Wenyiyi, her smile still intact. She released her hold on Xia Mingda's arm and maintained the elegance she had when she first entered Tian Lai, slightly raising her head as she walked towards them.
"Indeed, acting is my strongest skill. However, it’s really unnecessary to use my acting skills for just this mere 10% of shares. If my goal were to covet shares of Xiada Group, I would want more—40%, 50%, or even none left for you. If I asked for it, Dad would agree!" Xinran looked at them with piercing eyes. "What I say will not change; when I say no, it means no. Unlike you, who claim it's for your mother but dare to ask yourselves if you have any selfish desire for those shares? You are far worse than me!"
Just as Xinran finished speaking, a slap landed on her cheek with such force that her head nearly turned away. The impact was so heavy that she felt her face immediately go numb and swell up. For a moment, the room was so silent that one could hear a pin drop.
"Ranran!" Xia Mingda called out anxiously.
Xinran reached up to touch her cheek, hatred flashing in her eyes as she glared at Xia Wenjing—the one who had just struck her. Here, the person least qualified to hit her was Xia Wenjing because she owed her nothing!
"This slap is the second one you've given me! Auntie, this is the last time I'll call you that. That day over the shares issue, you slapped me once; today your daughter has slapped me again. Whatever my mother owed you in the past is now settled. If you're still unsatisfied, think back on how you've treated me all these years. After today, Summer will have nothing to do with you anymore. From tomorrow on, I will only have one father—Xia Mingda!"
After saying this, Xinran slowly turned around and walked towards Xia Mingda. She took the document from his hands, opened it, pulled out the notarized share transfer agreement in front of everyone, and tore it in half before throwing it on the ground!
"Dad, let's go downstairs. The guests must be waiting anxiously!"
Xia Mingda nodded and followed Xinran out of the room and into the hallway. He stopped, reached out to touch Xinran's cheek, and sighed, "Does it hurt? You silly girl, I can tell. You say you don't want any shares for my sake, but actually..."
"Dad, why do you have to be so smart?" Xinran pouted and continued, "I don't want you to have a restless home in the future. I already can't be with you often, and if I let you be bothered by Auntie's nagging all day, that would truly be my great unfilial act!"
"You! Now we'll see how you handle things in the future. You've torn apart your father's good intentions!" Xia Mingda pretended to be annoyed and poked Xinran's cute nose.
"At worst, if I really can't make it in the entertainment industry, I'll just borrow money from Dad. Just lend me cash; I hate all those paper documents. They're such a hassle!"
"You just know how to act cute with your dad. Hurry up and cover the injury on your face; it won't be good if the people downstairs see it!" Xia Mingda shook his head helplessly and went down the stairs first.
Xinran watched her dad's figure with a slight smile before turning around and walking into the nearby restroom.
