Suddenly, these Zombies rushed over, startling Liu You'er. However, after they approached, they realized they were among their kind, and with a dissatisfied roar, they returned to their original positions, staring blankly ahead.
Liu You'er swallowed back the heart that almost jumped out of her chest. Watching these Zombies retreat, she silently breathed a sigh of relief and put down the kitchen knife in her hand. "After all, they still have human thoughts. If they attacked me, I would be in big trouble!" Once she calmed down, she carefully observed the tragic state of these Zombies, feeling a wave of nausea. One of them seemed to have been a female office worker, sporting a low bun with a few stray hairs framing her face. She had drawn elegant eyebrows and delicate eyeliner on her peach blossom eyes, making her look charming. With a high nose and thin lips, she appeared somewhat alluring. Her light green professional outfit accentuated her impressive figure, and her legs in high heels looked straight, slender, and long. She was once a beautiful woman, but unfortunately, half of her face had been torn off; the skin hung loosely from her chin, revealing the muscle tissue on one side of her face. A bit of white bone was even visible on her forehead, and her foot was twisted, causing her to walk with a limp. This combination of angelic beauty and demonic horror was quite shocking. Another Zombie squatted there with half of its intestines exposed, completely unfazed as it feasted on the lifeless body beneath it. The person below had lost their chance to become a Zombie due to a broken neck. Liu You'er shook her head helplessly and quickly walked away. She had no strength and was struggling to survive herself; she couldn't help anyone else. All she wanted was to hurry to the supermarket to find something to eat and avoid being the first Zombie to starve on the street. Earlier at home, she had tried everything edible and found that aside from pure meat ham that was barely palatable, everything else smelled like rotten garbage—let alone putting it in her mouth. It seemed she could only eat meat; however, no matter what happened, she wouldn't eat humans and could only hope for frozen meat at the supermarket.
After about ten minutes of walking, Liu You'er finally spotted her target after half an hour. She felt so happy that she could almost jump up when suddenly she sensed something watching her from behind. Turning around, she found nothing unusual and quietly turned back, thinking: "These Zombies are too weak; they can't even turn their heads or move quickly. If I encounter Survivors in the future without a large group for protection, I should just lie down and play dead." Also, why did those Zombies look just like they did when they were alive except for their white eyes and black nails? Why did she look like this? It was so unfair! Yes, Liu You'er's adaptability was remarkable; after realizing that no Zombies attacked her after coming out, she happily accepted this fact and considered them part of her large group. Although she looked quite ugly now (incredibly hideous), the entire city essentially belonged to her. Moreover, all the clothes, lipsticks, shoes, and bags in the mall were certainly not worth anything to those Survivors who had gone mad trying to grab useless items—so didn't that all belong to her? How could she not be excited!
In a residential building 500 meters away, a handsome man sat in a corner with binoculars in his left hand while his right hand supported his forehead. His eyes sparkled with disbelief as he muttered repeatedly: "Impossible... impossible... impossible..." as if he had seen something more terrifying than Zombies.
Meanwhile, after an arduous 45-minute journey, Liu You'er finally reached the fresh produce section. Her confused white pupils finally flickered with a glimmer of light as she pushed other Zombies aside and looked around. Those pushed Zombies seemed puzzled about why their kind was crowding them but lost interest since they didn't smell any living humans; they began wandering aimlessly instead. Liu You'er nodded in satisfaction and thought: "Oh great! Time to eat!" The meat in the freezer was red and white marbled, emitting a stream of cold air that seemed like a feast comparable to a grand banquet in Liu You'er's eyes. However, human rationality made her hesitate for a moment as she thought: "These things are still raw; eating them should be fine! Yes, it should be." She tore off a small strip of meat and slowly put it into her mouth for a tentative chew—she was utterly astonished!
"Is raw meat really this delicious? It's simply unbelievable! The things I used to eat were practically garbage!" Before she could finish this thought, she found herself buried in the freezer. After that moment became hazy in her memory; all she knew was that she kept eating and eating until she ran over to the cold storage room for more food. When she regained consciousness again, there wasn't even a piece of meat left beside her. A warm current flowed through her body comfortably as if it had cleared every part of her being. Once that sensation began to fade away slowly, Liu You'er stood up gradually and discovered that her body felt just like when she was alive—if not even lighter! She quickly walked toward the door to check herself out in the mirror when suddenly an intense headache struck as if it were shattering her brain into pieces. Unable to contain herself, she screamed "Ahhhh!" This sound carried an overwhelming force that made even the mindless Zombies in the mall retreat into corners out of fear. Outside, those who heard this sound paused for a second as if startled cats before hastily avoiding the supermarket altogether—leaving about five meters of empty space around it...
