When I was pushed out of the operating room, several people were standing outside. Dong Yan stood there with her back to me, blocking Fang Jian and Yu Fengshu.
Yu Fengshu saw me and his eyes were filled with panic. He forced a smile, "Jiajia, let's go home." He reached out to take me, but was stopped by Dong Yan.
"Yu Fengshu, have some self-respect," she said.
"Dong Yan, this is between Jiajia and me, step aside."
"Yu Fengshu, I'll say it again, Jiajia doesn't want to see you. You can either leave on your own or I will have someone escort you out."
Yu Fengshu looked at Fang Jian, who shrugged helplessly. "Don't look at me; I can't take her on."
Yu Fengshu turned back to me, and in the end, he was pulled away by Fang Jian. Before leaving, he stared at me intensely and said, "Jiajia, you decide about the divorce, but you don't have the right to make decisions for me."
I closed my eyes and avoided looking at him. Dong Yan held me protectively in her arms and said coldly, "Then we'll see each other in court."
In the hospital room, I touched my abdomen; it felt empty and somewhat cold, accompanied by waves of aching pain. I curled up under the blanket, repeatedly telling myself that I hadn't done anything wrong and that removing the child was the best choice. Yet I still felt sad and lost; after all, it was a piece of flesh that had come from me. But I had no way out; I had no choice.
Dong Yan took me back to her home to care for me. I said, "Xiaoyan, I'll handle the divorce issue, but first I need to clarify one thing."
"What is it?"
"I want to know how Zhou Na got pregnant."
Dong Yan looked confused. "What do you want to know?"
"Zhou Na was artificially inseminated." I was certain.
"I asked Yu Fengshu, and he said so. So I want to find out whether Yu Fengshu is lying or if Zhou Na is lying."
Dong Yan comforted me, "Jiajia, it doesn't matter whether it's true or not. The result has already happened, and you've made your decision. There's no point in investigating this further."
"There is," I insisted. "If Zhou Na got pregnant naturally, then Yu Fengshu is lying to me. If he's lying, then this child won't be the last; there will be a second, a third, or even a fourth, unless I give up on having children. Otherwise, I'll always be kept in the dark."
"But..."
"Xiaoyan, I have to find out."
Dong Yan sighed and nodded. "Okay, I'll help you investigate."
Three days later, the results came back: Zhou Na indeed got pregnant naturally.
This result was what I expected; I had mentally prepared myself for it. But when Dong Yan told me, I got out of bed to get some water, and my legs gave way, causing me to fall to the ground.
Dong Yan panicked. "Jiajia, what's wrong with you?"
"I'm fine." I grasped her hand and choked back tears. "I'm just sad. Why do I have to endure this? Why does he have to treat me this way?"
"Jiajia, cry if you need to; it will help."
"I won't cry. Why should I cry? He isn't worth it; he doesn't deserve my tears."

"Xiaoyan, he promised he would treat me well for a lifetime. He said so..."

"He said he would never lie to me..."

"Yu Fengshu, you are a liar..."
"Jiajia..."
I cried out loud, and I don't know how long I cried.
I only remember that in the end, I fell into a deep sleep.
I decided to wait, to wait for Zhou Na's child to be born.
I must wait because only after the child is born can I win my divorce case.
